Anyone seen INU lately? And just for kicks anyone still playing with the ants? but they give such pretty seeds!
Dude, does anyone remember "Ultima" the series... Not Ultima online...

I played Ultima II in 1984 and up to Ascenssion, including Serpants Isle & Black Gate... I think the "Guardian" was introduced here... Along with Order/Chaos/Balance...

They already have a Rich story, but they would rather rethink the wheel everytime and come up with Inu or Richardo...

Who are they? and what part do they play? I agree with you Merth, wheres the story going and why did it just stop?

My solution:

-Problem with Ultima online, is there is NO end game, NO finish...

-There is also NO direction, NO common cause...

IMO, a radical re-thinking needs to happen, and the Story is where I will start...

-The Gardian is the computer Evil in the World, he's the guy behind the curtain... Only comes out on special occassions and is pretty much invulnerable... He backs Evil throughout the lands, all evil boughs to him... Monsters are his slaves... Dungeons his domain... When this guy appears look out, all you can do is try and "Best" him to make him retreat... But he always comes back...

-The Player... Needs a direction beyond skill gaining, Loot collecting & free for all PvP... and the on going Story can do this... by pointing them to a Goal... where usefull items are aquired for a small use now or a larger use as an ingredient to something else, later... such as turn ins for special abilities or items...

-I think the special events should be on going things, randomized and self starting... MG, we have like 16 cities, can't the software run semi automaticly... and the "Gardian" choose a Critter to invade with, Randomly in a city every 2 months and end after a month... Why does it have to be a special publish? Turned ON, then OFF... While the invassion is going on within a city, the guards are cancealled allowing Red/Blue raids on one anothers city invassions...

-The Whole Trammel/Fellucca Rules sets need to be universal, and I think, can fit into the Grand story nicely...

-The Factions... Who are realy players...

Trammel, under leadership of LordBritish who sits in his castle Throne room... He is under the shield of Order, which is Blue... Good.. and Blackthorns castle lays in Ruble...

Fellucca, under leadership of Lord Blackthorn who sits in his castle throne room also... He is under the shield of Chaos, which is Red... Evil... and Castle British lays in ruble...

and a 3rd Faction of Balance would be under a White shield and somewhat nuetral... Balancing on the edge, prevelant in both Trammel/Fellucca... and everyone starts as nuetral too...

-Basicly, Fel cities would have all Red guards and Tram cities would have all Blue guards... Nuetrals could enter anywhere and Guards would ignore them... and Guards would be killable too and NOT invulnerable...

-Every player is freely attackable, BUT... Nuetrals have a Duelling system and can turn down the offer to PvP... NO NvN/R/B, but once a Nuetral accepts a PvP offer (from R or B), they transform into the color of the Lands they occupy for 24hrs rl...

-Becoming Red or Blue is paramount to swearing an elegaince to a King for 7 days rl, which you need to go visit, and complete Quests for... to keep in Good standings with their good graces... or you revert back to nuetral...

-Lets see, Red v Red or Blue v Blue... Penalty time for the Victorious, Knocks 24 hour off your rl timer to become nuetral... Nuetrals can't attack anyone but monsters... If you are vanquished after foolishly attacking, you only loose 15min.... Doing your masters bidding (RvB, BvR) will add 24 hour to your timer... never going over 7 days rl...

-With the Ultima story we already have, I think it'd be interesting... Inu can be woven into the story of the Guardian as one of his minions... Differant drops at differant invassions... Ricardo was a Spy right? and we caught him right? and then what? Right? We could have like Book of Truth or Candle of Love or Bell of Courage invassions... Once you have all three, you can enter the Gardians realm....

I think I've flapped my jaw enough...

I have noticed that nystul is still wounded and lying on a bed at the Haven Healers...remember something about an expedition etc. The hole in blood dungeon 'this is as far as you can go...for now!' I suppose this was some kind of build up for stygian abyss cause someone thought KR would just kinda sail on out? Shakes head in confusion. Dungeon in ilshenar under ethereal warriors castle with the scroll that says masteropenthydoor? Monsters where you get teleported to that can't be targeted? Scratches brow. They did the book of truth for the lycaeum, then the candle of love for empath abbey, but serpents hold was...nothing...the large ogre lord quest for candle mentioned Astaroth, the shadowlord was involved. What the hell...there was a test center thing with that black cloak and the black moongate and shadowlords....AIEIEEEE i had forgotten!!! what the hell! Darn you for reminding me of how many days i spent waiting for them to finish these stories before I started figuring out how the game was run....

UOGuy has a great, awesome, thing. They should make a sort of UO2 or something using those "rules"

I still feel the pain from when it was canceled the first time.
It was like a million souls all screamed out at once, as if something terrible had happened!
No wait... that was when Origin sold out...

In any case, yeah, I miss the storylines.
So many great things have been started but never got finished.
So many events that still have an open end.
Screw Inu, kill off that Ricardo already and pick up the old events.

Heh, for example...
Anyone remember the pirate invasion in Minoc?
The ones that left the red platemail named "Antique Armour".
That was excellent and I'll admit, the Magincia event was done really well (to EA standards that is).
What saddens me though, is that after 10 years of UO these events still cannot be random and automated...

Some great ideas have been listed here and it "only" takes a crapload of programming to make the UO would dynamic (and in no need of updates to start new events) for the coming years.
It would save resources with EA, they just need someone to update the variables every now and then.

However, I think that town invasions have been done...
How about town rebuilding events?
Monsters attack while NPCs are rebuilding.
Keep the NPCs safe, donate resources, have the town rebuilt and earn rewards!
Perhaps even incorporate the Virtues here?
Honesty for bringing funds from one place to another (without keeping any yourself), Valor for protecting the civilians, Humility for those who help without requesting reward and Sacrifice for those who donate their own bones to make another evil altar for some random homeless necromancer.

Anyway, I am drifiting!
Bring back the story lines!
Not new ones, but continue the old ones!
