UO:KR interface guide

compiled from source here

KR guide

a basic guide to explain some features of KR..

Menu Hotbar

To save scrolling through the whole thread I have put links for each hot bar icon guide to take you directly to what you maybe looking for .

Quest Journal:

Skills:

Virtues :

Friends List

Guild

KR maps

Main Menu:
[Log Out, Exit Game, User Settings,Macros/Actions, Help,Bug Report, Close Menu]

Backpacks can now be used in one of three ways..

Desktop Features

Main Hotbar

Resizing and Customizing

Take a walk through The CHAT & SYSTEM Menus with Queen Mum, who took the time to compile this useful guide .

Talking in game may now be done in two ways:

Game Play Features

- Interaction with Non Player Characters
(NPC's)

Pets - Information on pets, commands, stables, sample macro's.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Character Sheet:
[Opens the Paperdoll and Character Status Window]
When selecting the Character Sheet Icon both the Character Status and Paperdoll windows are opened.
Left Double Clicking your avatar in game will also open your paperdoll (and close it by repeating the action).
  • [b]Character Status
  • Displays points allocated to Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence - with
    a toggle arrow to raise, lower or lock the various stats.
  • Shows your maximum Stat cap.
  • Luck - (totals the points of 'luck' you character has by wearing 'luck'
    items)
  • Weight - shows how much you are holding compared to how much you
    can carry, ie 335/442 (stones)
  • Gold - shows how much gold you are carrying.
  • Followers - shows how many mounts, pets, summons you have. 5 is the
    maxium amount of followers and it is displayed as eg 3/5
  • Displays how many points of resistance to Physical, Fire, Cold, Poison, &
    Energy attacks your character has on armor/items. The maximum
    amount of 'used' resistance is 70 (up to 75 on energy for elves)
    however you may have armor that gives higher than the 'useable'
    resistance eg armor pieces that total 87 physical resist. The extra
    physical only comes into play in calculating damage if your
    character is weakened or cursed, in that you will not drop lower
    than the 70 if you lose -10 points due to a curse.
  • Damage - shows the damage dealt by equipped weapons.
  • Weapon Special Ability Icons - displays the primary and secondary
    ability given by the equipped weapon. These Icons may be dragged
    off the character sheet when creating macros that require a
    'special' weapon attack.
Paperdoll
The new KR Paperdoll, unlike previous paperdolls, contains 'slots' for all worn or equipped items as well as the dressed Paperdoll graphic.
It also has divided items worn into 'Armor' and 'Clothing' tabs.
Dressing your character is the same as always by dragging and dropping the item onto your paperdoll.
Removing items is made easier by being able to drag the item from its slot to your backpack.
Holding your cursor over any of the slots will allow you to view the properties of that item, and makes it easy to see items that may be in need of repair, without disrobing clothes to view them
.
  • Hints
When creating macros that require the actions Equip and
Unequip it is easier to have the item on your paperdoll and just
drag and drop the item to the 'command' box in macro creation.
This is especially useful for full 'Dress and Undress' macros.
If you equip 'useable' items such as Spellbooks, Talismans,
Weapons (blades or axes also use for cutting/chopping etc) you
may wish to drag them from your paperdoll to a hotbar, then
replace on your pdoll, so that you do not have to have your
paperdoll 'open' on the screen to be able to access the property
or use they have.
Eg, If you have an ornate axe equipped for fighting, clicking on
it in a hotbar will give you a target cursor to chop wood or
destroy deeds etc.
Your spellbook will 'open' from a hotbar without the need to
open your paperdoll. etc
Re: KR guide to Menu hotbar [ basic guide ]
Skills:
The new KR skill gump is very easy and user friendly.
It is accessed by selecting on the Menu bar of your screen.
Skills are split into categories as you see above.
The blue/green icons are those which can be dragged into a hotbar to perform an action or added to a macro when creating macros, eg hiding, taming, evaluate intelligence etc.
As with the 2d gump all skills can be raised, lowered or locked by using the arrow toggle.
In that graphic I have asked it to show caps, so it reports as eg Anatomy 66.2/110% and 0/120% for Fencing with Parry and Sword skills at current cap level.
This is very handy for instantly seeing your cap and current skill level at a glance (not one or the other as in 2d).
As with 2d you can view your skills modified or unmodified by clicking the button.
It also shows your skill points used.
You may also create a 'custom' tab for your characters skills so they appear on the one tab.
To do this you right click on the icon and select 'add to custom tab'.
Re: KR guide to Menu hotbar [ basic guide ]
Virtues :
The Virtue menu in KR is very user friendly.
It is accessed by clicking on Virtues on the Menu bar of your main screen.
By clicking on a virtue in the list you are given a description of the virtue and can see the current level of your virtue displayed as a number out of 10 for each level until you have gained the maximum level (eg 6/10 or 10/10).
There are three levels to each virtue, Seeker, Follower and Knight.
At the time of writing not all the virtues are active.
At present, as in 2d, you may only study the virtues in: Sacrifice, Compassion, Valor, Honor and Justice.
The only difference to the display from 2d is there doesn't appear to be an easy 'view' by color as to your current level, and you must look at the virtue in the list to see where you are at.
  • Hints
  • The gold virtue button maybe dragged off to add to macro
    command boxes, or just placed in a hotbar (as shown
    above) for 'one click' access.
    If your character only uses a couple of them then that is
    all you need to use. eg, if your character uses the Honor
    virtue a lot then drag the Cup shaped one to your hotbar.
    Clicking on it once will give you a target cursor.
Re: KR guide to Menu hotbar [ basic guide ]
Friends List
The Friends List is accessed by using the Friends List Icon from the Menu bar. It opens the gump shown above and allows you to enter the names of your friends. This allows you to talk to any friend in the game irrespective of whether they are in your guild or alliance.
* To add a friend, click and target the player.
* To add a friend by ID Number, type their number in the text
box to the right of the button and click
(Note: they must be 'in game' or it will say no such player).
* To 'Tell' a friend something, highlight their name in the list,
click and type what you wish to say.
The text will appear at the bottom of your screen
and will appear in your chat window as:
Your name: (To Friend's ID number)Text spoken
* To delete a friend, highlight their name in the list and press
Your friend must also be in KR and online for it to work.
If your friend is off-line it will say "no such player (Friend's ID number)"
If your friend goes off-line you will receive the message: "Friend Id number_Name has gone off-line".
It does not tell you if your friend comes online.
Friends added to one of your characters will automatically appear in the Friends List of all your characters on the same account.
Hints
* If you add yourself to your own friends list it will put your
name and ID number in the list.
This allows you to see what your characters ID number is.
* You may also talk to a friend any time by typing /tell
ID_number (if you have it memorized) spoken text - without
having to open the Friends list.
Re: KR guide to Menu hotbar [ basic guide ]
*Guild
The Guild Roster is accessed by using the Guild Icon from the Menu bar.
Other than the new interface there is little change from the previous 2d or 3d clients.
As guild leader, to select a member for action, just click their name on the guild roster list instead of pressing the blue gem.
Re: KR guide to Menu hotbar [ basic guide ]
KR maps
Flutter's how-to guide to KR maps.
A few folks I have spoken to haven't realized the potential
of the in-game map system so I thought I would post a
few tips here for anyone who'd really like to learn.
First off you see here we have our new KR map.
Void of color at first I was asking that the devs add more
color and depth.
Then I realized how the map system works
and it's really a great tool as it is.
I am in my house in malas.
The green dot I have designated as me.
"How'd ya do THAT?" you might ask...
Well first you'll notice a scroll at the top of your radar map.
Clicky here.
I will show you how to make moongates,
and your characters, show up on your lil radar map.
Once you've clicked you can see that you have
many choices as to what you can choose to display.
"Players" is all the way down at the bottom but it's there.
"Shrines" is there too.
Good for reference.
Once you've checked out all of the things you can
display on your maps go ahead and click
"Map Options" Circled here:
This opens up your "what do you want displayed where" list.
This list is very important.
Notice here I circled players and moongates to
display in both the big map and the radar map:
If you mark them you will be displaying those specific
icons as moongates and your player character.
If you click the blue dot here a new gump will come
up that will let you change the size and color of the
"dots" that display
I left moongates as light blue and player characters as light green.
Each gives you the option so try and play with it a little till
you get what you like.
"What's that third column for?
The one marked 'In Game' you might ask...
Well, if you mark it with an x you will get a
display on all of your maps plus a column of light to
show you in game where these things are.
I marked them here so you can see what I am talking about:
Now hit "Return to Map" here:
And click on the "radar map" icon here:
Now here is an example of the finished product.
I have displayed on my radar map both my player character
and moongates. I have also chosen for this example to
show in-game moongate. (I prefer that one off myself but
I see it can be helpful)
Thanks to Flutter for taking the time to put itthis together,and allowing me to repost here to UOForums.....tabby
Re: KR guide to Menu hotbar [ basic guide ]
* Main Menu:[Log Out, Exit Game, User Settings,Macros/Actions, Help,Bug Report, Close Menu]
o KR Default Key Bindings: changing default key bindings
The default key bindings that are pre-set are located by clicking on the 'Main Menu' key on the Menu Bar, selecting 'User Settings' then the tab for 'Key Bindings'.
There is a description of the 'actions' available and the key/s to press to perform these actions. eg) to open your backpack the default is 'I' or to toggle for war mode it is 'W'.
You may change any of the default key settings to whatever keys you prefer by:
Highlight (line turns yellow) the key binding you wish to change by clicking on the Action part, then press the keys you wish that action to perform on. eg) if you wish to open your backpack with b rather than the the default key "I", then highlight that action line and press b and it will change the default. Once you have made any changes you want, click apply and OK to leave the menu.
Note: changing the key bindings on one character in an account changes them on ALL characters in that account so be mindful of this when changing them.
Hints
* If you prefer not to use any or all of the 'default' key bindings it is simple to put them on multiple key selections eg) use something that you are never likely to accidentally type, such as + or something similar.
* Pressing will clear the current binding to a blank space, but the default will be returned on the next log in.
* If you have one of the action lines highlighted it will NOT let you click onto another until you have made a selection of key strokes. It is a little confusing as it appears your menu has 'locked up' as it will not highlight another until you have selected them nor can you click on cancel or the gem(x) to close the menu. So if you accidentally highlight the wrong line, see what the current default is and re-type that to make it 'white' again. Then you can move to the correct line. I am not sure if this is a bug or intended, but have reported it as a bug just in case.
Re: KR guide to Menu hotbar [ basic guide ]
Macros
To access the macro function, click on the 'main menu' on the menu bar and select 'Macros/Actions'.
Two boxes open up, click on and another box opens to create your macro in.
No Macro box = where the completed macros are stored.
Edit Macro box = where you create the macro and edit.
Action Box = for performing 'actions' in your macros.
Creating Macros
Most macros are relatively easy to create. Simple ones are created with three parts:
* The 'picture' part: is the 'visible' icon you use to drag to your hotbar or to identify the macro. This is the box (above) with text 'no icon set'. To set a 'picture' in this box LEFT click and a box of icons/ opens for you to select from. These have some 'custom' Icons and icons of all spells, actions, weapon specials etc. Scroll down in here (with scroll bar or mouse wheel) to select the 'picture' you wish to use to identify your macro. LEFT clicking will put the icon in the box.
The 'Picture' Icon box
* The 'command' part: is where you put the actual 'command' part of the macro. To add 'commands' to this box drag spells (from spellbooks), skills (from skill menu), weapon abilities (from equipped weapon on the status gump when paperdoll is opened, actions from the 'action box' or items into the box (items may be dragged from your pdoll or backpack).
* The macro 'name' part: where you name your macro. This is a must if you have not selected a 'picture' icon, (which may be made without a 'picture' if it is not intended to be placed in a hotbar but just assigned a hotkey). It is handy to name all macros in case the 'picture' you have selected is not 'obvious' to the command it performs.
For example a simple spell macro (eg greater heal) would look like this:
* Adding Actions The action box allows you to 'add actions' into your macro such as Equip, Last Object, Delay etc. Scroll down in this box with the bar or mouse wheel to view the actions available. Drag the action icon you wish to use to the 'command' box.
o Equip Items - gives you a box/s to drag items into, eg sword and shield
o Unequip Items - opens a box with the icons as they appear on your Paperdoll. Put a cross in the box of the item you wish to unequip and select ok. You may pick one or more items. To completely 'undress' click them all.
o War/Peace - allows you to create a macro to toggle for war and peace mode.
o Say (normal speak) - Emote (eg *smiles*) - Whisper (only players next to you will hear) - Yell (text speech travels further) - all open a dialog box to type what you wish to say in.
o Last Skill - Last Spell - Last Object - are self explanatory in they let you 'use' the last skill, spell or object you used.
o Use Targeted Object -
o Bow - Salute - to perform avatar actions on screen with your character.
o Open Door - assign this a hot key, you must be directly facing the door you wish to open.
o All Names - when triggered will show all names on your screen.
o Delay - opens a box with a scroll bar so you may set a delay between commands from 0-10 secs.
o Wait for Target - allows you to select a spell in command box, add the waitfortarget icon and when triggered the spell will action and give you a cursor to allow targeting.
o Cursor Target Last -
o Cursor Target Current -
o Cursor Target Self -
o Target Next Friendly -
o Target Next Enemy -
o Target Next Friendly
Assigning Hotkeys
Once made all macros appear in the Stored Macro box and you will see the 'picture' icon you selected, the macro name and 'no key binding' which means the macro has not been assigned a hotkey. RIGHT clicking on the picture will open a box where your macro may be cleared, edited or assigned a hotkey (used to trigger the command). Which key you select to assign a macro to is up to you and how you like to play. Once you select Assign Hotkey you will be prompted to type in the key/s you wish to use to trigger the macro and the 'no key binding' text will change to the key you have selected.
Hints
* It is worthwhile to log out after creating a few small macros or after creating one large macro to avoid losing the work if the client crashes.
* When using the Equip Item 'action', it is worthwhile to use the Unequip Item 'action' first. This ensures the part of the body you wish to equip the item to is empty. They can be done in the same macro. For example if you wish to drop a two handed weapon to equip a sword and shield you would : Drag the icon to command box 1, select both hands by putting a x against them in the pop up box to ensure both hands are free, click ok, drag the icon to the command box 2 which will open after the first command, and drag the sword and shield you wish to equip into the Equip Items box/s and select ok.
* It appears that assigned macro hotkeys were not saving on exit when leaving the game, although this bug may of berrn fixrd by now.
However ensure you re-assign the keys in your macros before heading out to fight until such time as the 'fix' is confirmed. This does not apply to those assigned macro's in Hotbar 1 visible when you first log in, but to those Hotbars created in addition to the preset Hotbars.
