Re: General UO - Computer Questions

There are two other ways to run dual instances of UO without two XP accts...

The first one may work... Going to the UOML program folder and simply running the client executeable, not the main exe file.

There is the main exe, the patch exe, and there are TWO client exe files. One for 2d and one for 3d. Running either twice should work.

The second method requires the use of a 3rd party program that is totally illegal. So don't do it.

Re: General UO - Computer Questions

The only drawback to the way DamageFactor said is the system resources that would draw. If you have a fairly newer pc (say 2gig CPU or better and at least 768Mb RAM) then it shouldnt be too bad, but I would do it for extended periods of time...might cause a bit of heat.

The way I uderstood "Fast User Switching" method, you could keep each logged in to UO so you wouldnt have to key in the pass's everytime...

Re: General UO - Computer Questions

Considering I cannot see the first post for some reason (I'm not entirely sure what the question was...) so I may not understand...

What I thought the goal is: To run two clients on one PC so you can play dual accts for training or something...

If this is the case you can be logged into both... The system resources for the 2d client isn't much... I overclock and run the easy bake oven AMD 754 socket CPU, and running dual 3d doesn't make too much heat...

The only limitation is your ISP speed, 3.0mbits cable and I have no lag unless it is the server's fault...

Re: General UO - Computer Questions

Mary, I'm wondering if your second account is setup to have it's own access to programs... think there's a setting where you're asked if you want all users to be able to run a program. Only thing I can think of is that your other account isn't set with access and when you go to load UO it's throwing a tantrum. But I could be talking rubbish there

If you go into the UO program folder, you can run the actual exe file for the client mode itself...

IE the main UO exe acts like a batch file, it runs the auto patch, then asks for what version of the client... It then runs an exe based on your choice...

There will be two client executeables, I'm not sure what they are named off hand ATM... I think 2dclient and the 3d is something similar...

You should not even need to switch XP accts, should all work on one.

That method is considered illegal by EA. The only legal method to run two client on the saem comp is to use XP and switch between users
