I'm sitting in my home office with the windows open. The weather outside is gorgeous. My home office faces my back yard. I live in a townhouse with neighbors on either side of me. We all have back yard decks, with some yard and then a pond, then a golf course. It's a nice view, and my neighbors spend a lot of time outside on the decks (as do I).

With the lack of distance between us (since our buildings are connected on the east and west sides), I can pretty much hear every conversation that my neighbors on either side have when on their decks.

And they talk REALLY loud.

Right now, the girl is bad-mouthing a female friend with some other girl.

It's like reality TV, but in my back yard.

I wish the birds would chirp louder. I'm not much of a reality TV fan....

My brother has been living in a town house but he got the end unit so it hasnt been too bad.

When I lived in an apartment, it wasnt that bad. My upstairs neighbor was my brother-in-law and the downstairs neighbor was a kid that wasnt home real often...

Other than hearing them talk outside in the summer, it's not bad at all. I hear absolutely nothing otherwise. We have very good sound-proofing here. I've not once heard thumping bass or loud tv's or stomping up stairs or slamming doors like I used to when I lived in various apartments.

Actually, this is my 2nd townhouse and I love it. (Then again, I hate lawn maintenance and snow removal, and the association takes care of those things in a townhouse, so that is part of my happiness!)

This is why I want a older single family home New homes are built cheap mot of the time and I don't want to hear anyone and I don't want anyone to hear me =^.^=


Kit your puppy, the white one on the beach, reminds me of our first dog princess, an American Eskimo. She was the best dog ever!

Awww! I've always wanted a big dog, like that or a husky - a nice, loyal, smart, big dog. I'm not home enough at this point in my life to have a dog, though.

This isn't her, but sure reminds me of her. She was the best dog ever,next to BW of course.

One thing I like about my house is that inside, I can't hear hardly anything. Also if I decide to blast my stereo or anything, no one complains.

I used to live next to neighbors who fought constantly. It was just nerve wracking.

That is why I live in the country and work in the city. I love privacy and the freedom of doing whatever my little heart desires. I feel for you Kit

Someday maybe I'll have a stand-alone house with some privacy. For now, I live alone and work too much to put the necessary time in to properly take care of a detached house. Alot of that responsibility is held by the association with townhouse ownership. (I do have to pressure wash and stain my deck one of these days. Ugh!)
