Time flies so fast. I can't believe she is now 5 weeks old. It's been a great month though. Other than me not really getting any sleep. Hubby and I have gotten into a little routine so I can at least get some sleep. Of course I take care of her all week while he goes to work. And since I'm breastfeeding full-time, he gets to sleep through the night. On the weekends and holidays though, I get to sleep in. Hubby doesn't wake me up until baby absolutely needs to feed. He has been great too about doing more house chores. Cooking is still mine, but he's taken on grocery shopping and laundry Oh and I make sure he does a diaper change at least once a day. Until he can help with the feeding he can do the changing

It's great too that my parents are here and my dad is retired. All I need to do if I really need time away or if I feel that I'm about to fall dead with lack of sleep is call.

Our little baby is really an angel. She rarely cries, which kept me on my toes at first cause I get nervous when I don't hear from her for a while. We're co-sleeping now. Some say it's not really advisable to have her sleep beside me, but I think it's better than me bothering her everytime I go to check her in her crib.

She's grown a lot in a month, she's now 9.14lbs, she gained 3 lbs in 1 month. Good exercise for me when I have to carry her. She's just beginning to really smile. She likes her little rattles, and tickling. And me making a fool of myself.

Congratulations, Ally! The first month can be torturous, but it sounds like you made it through with flying colors. On the co-sleeping issue: lots of folks are afraid the parent will roll over on the sleeping child while in a deep slumber, so my wife and I came up with a solution. We wanted our children in bed with us for the first few months also, so we purchased a co-sleeper from Baby's R Us. If you haven't seen them, they are basically a three sided crib that joins against your existing bed. A special pad covers the gap between the matress and the co-sleeper, so there is no danger of slipping between the matresses. This way, we both got a good night of sleep, and our baby stayed right there next to us, always within arm's reach. Another bonus: my wife perfected the "breastfeed while asleep" routine, so our children would feed while she slept on her side, with no danger of any roll-over accidents. Just an option for you, though

We got our two used to be being in their own room after the first 3 months or so. It was heart breaking at first as they always wanted attention- we of course made sure they were fed,changed etc.

My daughter used to sleep 12 hours a day for the first few months but that soon changed She is now 10 and is usually up & dressed before anyone else

My son would never go to sleep-we sometimes drived for miles with him in the car hoping to get him off to sleep. We would just get home and he would wake up and the crying would start all over again

Now he is 12 and it is so hard to get him up for school in the mornings

Even with the lack of sleep and nappy changing and sleep problems, they are still the best thing to happen to me
