Next Expansion is Stygian Abyss

*Update*

On the Stratics forum athos_uo has translated the announcement message to the best of his ability. Apparently Stygian Abyss is a seperate expansion to come a couple months after Kingdom Reborn, most likely late summer or early fall of 2007. It will feature Gargoyles as a playable race and the largest dungeon in UO to date. A new UOGuide page has been setup for this expansion:

Makes for a lot of speculation. Is the Garg City in Ilshenar going to be the starting city for player gargs? The desert outside the city is a difficult environment for a new player. Are there still going to be hostile "monster" gargs in game? Lots of questions.

Nah, you wont need another slot. It will make sense to change one (or more) or your chars over.

If they make it so that you cant change chars over like you can with Elf and Human, thn we might have an argument for another slot....

its looking like gargoyles will not be the next race and will not be available until the next expansion "stygian abyss" (which is the next expansion which is for uo:kr in specific from what i have read if you don't have the uo:kr the expansion will not wok for you) the next race may be dwarves but the gargoyles are not out until the expansion for kr comes out i was all excited too until i saw that but the expansion will have the gargoyles as a choice from everything i was able to read up on it sorry to kill some hopes lol

This will obviously be clarified on Saturday. For now we just know there is something called Stygian Abyss, which can be assumed to be a new area or dungeon. We also know the next race is Gargoyles or there might be a second race coming before. Either way, we know those two things from the early announcement.

This isn't in-game event information, it is details on the next expansion. Why would someone spoiler that?

i think orcs would be a better choice for the next race... it might bring back alittle of the old uo that the older players remember. Dwarfs would be a cool race but i think they should be major crafters and with all the crafting that elfs do the dwarf race would feel just like elfs all over again with a different look.
