Today's Adventures in Taming

Well...

Today, I tried to tame bulls and had to stop when I found myself snoring and drooling on the keyboard... (ok, not literally, but you get my drift). Then I decided it would be fun to tame some Cu's looking for That Perfect Pet.

Wild Cu's bite. Hard.

The good news in that dept: I finally got my strength up to 100. I'm locking it there and will now try to get int up to 100 (it's at 70 I think now).

I died a few times throughout the afternoon while taming Cu's - mostly when their first bite sank a bleed attack. I can survive 2 bites, as long as there's no bleed attack involved. I've got near-max armor resists in cold and energy (the damage Cu's do) but still... they hurt.

Marlin came by and helped me out a bit with some well timed heals and invis's - thanks Marlin! Then we ran into Kellen, whose tale of a Chinese buffet reminded me that it might be a good idea to eat sometime today. I logged out and ordered a pizza

Logged back in and ran into Leonilla at Twisted Wield - finally! Thom has been telling me that I have to meet her, the Queen of Pups! She showed me a couple unicorn taming spots in Malas (which is nice, due to the ability to recall/gate out and in - making donations to the Zoo much easier! Thank you!!!)

After donating a few unicorns, I got a bit gutsy. I wanted to get me one of those fox things - the bake whatevers. Orange is my favorite color, and they are SO darned cute! Thom warned that they can be nasty when wild, particularly en masse, but I figured... what's the worst that could happen, right? Dirtnap! hehe. So I went to Tokuno and found a bake on the outskirts of the forest. His stats weren't great, but again... I really just wanted to see if I could do it. It took a little getting used to - trying to tame something that continued aggressive tendencies even after peaced (ie. it didn't stop chasing me!) but after a few tries, I got it

I went back to TW, but it was pretty busy with people. I ran into a guy that I've seen at Swoops a few times, and we got to chatting (he has a wicked blue Cu). There were 3 paragon Cu's walking around, which was preventing spawn of more normal Cu's, so he helped kill the one normal Cu that was around so that more could spawn. Sure enough, one did - and it was ALMOST my perfect pet! (ie. by Vepl's suggestion, within 10% of max of all stats and resists). I tamed it, and Son House and I took our new pups to kill some white wyrms. (w00t new source of leather!)

After that, I trained my new pup at swoops for a couple hours, and here I am...

I honestly can't believe I went all these years without trying taming - particularly since I'm an animal freak in real life. I just always heard what a pain it was. Without jewels it would be nightmarish, but this way I can put on jewels and have some fun, then take 'em off and train. Best of both worlds!

I'm thinking I might need to start a tamer on one of my other accounts just for the stable slots...

It was nice meeting you, Kit. I was more than happy to show you the 2 unicorn spots so you don't have to deal with the hassle getting out of Ilshenor after taming one.

Welcome to the taming addiction!! Hence the reason I have 4 tamers on different accounts.

Glad you two met!!!! I am off so much, it ain't fair to my mentees ( those that are mentored, my new fake word). I think all have now met Leonilla.

Thanks for helping her out. I really need to remark the umbra tame spawns, but been too busy.

Son House is a frequent customer at Paul Mart. Talked to hima few times, nice chappie.

I will have to show all tamers interested my own personal Barbed leather factory ( can be converted to horned as well). And how to get all that leather out with out using BOS charges up the wazoo.
