Just wanted to extend my previous post a little and explain as the private messages are tallying up and might make it a little easier this way. And thank each of you for your best wishes and prayers.

As some of you already know and to those who don't my wife and I have a 7 month old son, Hunter. He suffered a brachial plexus injury during birth. Basically the nerves running from his neck into his shoulder were damaged during delivery. At birth he could wiggle his fingers but had no other movement in his left arm. After 7 months of therapy he has made remarkable progress to the point he is able to raise his arm over his head, to his mouth etc., however he still can not turn his arm over or curl his arm. The nerves controlling his bicep seem to be the most affected and without strong bicep activity he will never be able to be functional with that arm. At his last check-up my wife and I decided to go ahead and do nerve graft surgery to try to supplement what little functional nerve he has there. The surgeon put him on the schedule for the 30th of this month 9 days and counting from now. The idea of what we are about to undertake with surgery and recovery on a 7 month old is something we constantly think about and wonder if this is the right decision and our hopes for a successful outcome has made this a period of second guessing, wonder, confusion and all the other emotions we could possible have. I feel in my heart it is the right decision and expect the best from the surgery. I just wanted to thank each of you for keeping us in your thoughts and especially in your prayers as we go through this trial.

Wow, that's great the movement has improved and hope it only gets better Merth. I have been fortunate and haven't had to make tough decisions, but I would always do what I think would be best for my daughter and it is glaringly obvious you have only the best intentions.

Feeling in your heart is exactly what it takes to know you've made the right decision. Prayers for you Merth, your wife and Hunter as this will be a tough time for you all. Surgery for a youngster is not the easiest thing to go through, especially when they can't tell you what hurts. My heart goes out to you all and best wishes for a speedy recovery. **BIG HUGS**
