So I was getting ready to log out and go to bed tonight, when I got the crazy idea in my head that I wanted to try taming my own Cu pup. My strength is up to 95 now, and I was feeling pretty brave! I read about their anger cycles, and got myself mentally prepared to tame-n-run-n-peace. (I also mentally prepared for 2 more events on the end of that string - a -run-n-die).

I put together an armor suit that had 70 in cold and energy, the damage that Cu's do.

I went to Twisted Weald and followed around a Cu. He sucked, stat-wise, but I just wanted to see if I could do it. It took a little while to get up the gall, and when I finally did, my heart was going mach-2.

And then - some friggin message that only elves can tame Cu's!!

I knew that. Duh.

When I created this char, I made her human because I missed my original Kitiara (after turning her from human to elf a while back). But as a tamer, it is looking more and more like elven is the way to go.

So I was like... eff it... I'm turning elf. (All this at like quarter to 3am). So I ran and did the elf quest real quick (helps that I sell quest kits on my vendor, hehe). I picked the closest thing to pigtails that I could find (the flower haircut) and the closest thing to red I could find (a dark orange), and. voila. My tamer is now an elf.

So I went back to TW and sure enough, the cu was still wandering around. I tried to tame him and he bit me for 40 HP, and when I didn't run away fast enough he bit me for another 40. Yikes! Near dirtnap! RUN! That's when I saw that they're relatively slow. So I ran a few screens away and healed up.

Then I remembered - DUH, I'm a peacer.

So I went back to the Cu and peaced him, and it worked! Hmmm. Interesting.

I tried taming him 3 more times, and he got big-time pissed at me, but I was able to peace him immediately every time.

Then, on my 5th taming attempt...

I tamed my first Cu!!!

I'm pretty sure I'm not strong enough to kill them yet, so I just named him MyFirstCU and released him.

I must say, I totally want to go back and find good Cu's!! (Actually, I did try, but someone came and was already working the Cu population when I tried to go back).

Now, we're pushing 4am, and thank goodness I'm not going in to work!!!! Holy tired batman!

Thom suggested my guild title on my tamer be "Dances with Pups." Can I have it? Please please please?! It's the Kitiara that is still Ronin, the one most recently logged in.

I love the pups!!!!

And with that, I ** MUST ** go to sleep! I'm up so late that I'm starving for breakfast

Be sure to take your pups out of Ilshenar so that another will spawn in Twisted Weald.

To recycle the pups in search of better ones or rare colors, just have your pet Cu attack a wild cu, and release it while it is fighting.

Grats on your pup, by the way! My first attempts at taming them usually ended with me dead in one bite.
