![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Pet statistics basics Source : Pacific Rangers Guild (modified to reflect newer updates) All creatures spawn with random elemental resist, skill and stat values within a range set for their type. Elemental resistances are not trainable. It was confirmed by Designer Oaks that GGS does not apply to pets, but that their skills train up about twice as fast as those of a player. They have skill and stat caps. For any stat that starts out below 125, 125 is the maximum, any stats above that mark will not improve. This means you can train a chicken to 125/125/125, but if your nightmare starts out with 515 str, 97 dex and 123 int for example, the maximum you can train it up to is 515 str, 125 int and 125 dex. All creatures start with various levels of wrestling, tactics and resisting spells. Creatures with spell casting ability of course have magery skill as well, poisonous creatures have poisoning skill. Only some creatures spawn with developed anatomy, eval int and meditation skills. Pets can only be trained in their inherent skills - a frost spider will never learn poisoning or magery for example. Pets lose .1 skills upon death. They no longer lose stat points on death. Fire breathers are of an especially aggressive nature and even tame ones will often attack hostile creatures where pets without breath attack will wait patiently until ordered to attack, unless their opponent targets them first of course. A firebreather's preferred targets are poisonous creatures, which they will attack before anything else, so it is always a wise decision to pay special attention to your pet's health bar if you are in an environment with high-level poisonous creatures (best example: the higher levels of the arachnid champion spawn in Felucca and Ilshenar). A second trait of their aggressive nature is their "target switching" behavior when wild. They may be engaged in combat with another opponent, but every time the game screen is refreshed (by various actions: casting a spell, mounting/dismounting, resurrecting a player etc.) or you move within a certain radius of the firebreather, it will redirect its attack.
