HP vs Resists vs Stats?
How would you rank the importance of hit points versus resists versus stats in a good pet?
Further, within the resists, how would you rank the importance of each? I'm thinking that the pet power calc needs to weight resists more heavily than HP and stats, and further that phys/fire/energy should probably be the most heavily weighted resists. But to what degree? Opinions?

I dun think that weighing individual resists is feasible. You would have to weigh those for the individual pet, not across the board.
For example, a CU can have max 45 fire, a Hiryu max 90. If you weighed fire resists as more important, then the CU would always have a lower value. One would be tempted to give more weight to the intensity of the lower resists of a pet than the higher resists, for more even balancing of the pet.

I always looked for HP first, then resists. stats can be worked up with training.
I had a Hiryu that had 533 HP, pretty nice in my book, but one day I took him out and he had eternally lowered to 477. That was 1 less hit he can take. I ended up getting a new one with over 500. It really sucked cause he was one of the first big pets I had tamed, right after SE came out and he was a cool blue color. and was almost 4xGM and great resists. The perfect Hiryu in my opinion.

If your pet has bad or poor resists, then hp's won't matter too much. You can have max hp's on your pet, but if your resists are bottom rung, then no amount of hp's are going to help.
As for resists. You want to separate each type of pet. You can't lump Cu's and rune beetles in to one category in terms of resists. They each have different highs and lows. Same with stats. Me personally, when I go out looking for a Rune Beetle (prob the hardest pet to find considering all the combinations you need to compare), first I look at resists, then I look at Eval and Poisoning (both have to be over 110 post tame), then I look to dex (over 140 is preferred) and then hp's. Personally, I like my resists to be within 5 of max resists. (Yea, its taken me a month to find a decent pet) Then again in my guild we have pet tournaments where we pit our pets against one another. Resists and training come into play very heavily and we have members who will spend months just to find the best pet they can. Now in terms of percentages....I would go resists 60%, stats 25%, hp 15%. |
