Lockpicking help!!

Hi all,

I have decided to raise lockpicking on my tailor but its a nono,i bought skill to 30.8 from the thief guildmaster in New Haven.I have skill of 90 tinkering so the boxes probably are too strong to lockpick gain,so I bought 30 tinker and carpenter to make a crappy lockable box,it wont gain off it either.I tried with GM boxes,lowest skill boxes,dungeon chests,the lvl 1 chests in vesper bank,it just wont move from 30.8.it either breaks the picks or opens it too easy,theres no middle place to gain it seems.What am I doing wrong???

Have you checked the obvious (but overlooked)? Are you at 700 skill points? Arrow pointed up to gain?

Hehe yes,im not at cap,and even have some old skills pointed down...

Hmm, maybe try a magically locked box?

Seems odd it didn't go with the level 1 chests, or low level tinkered chests.

hi Stukov...

u can try in vesper-bank, there are 3 little rooms behind with chests, after u open it few minutes later new one spawn... not steal from it just open all and go to next room...
worked nice for me until i was arround 80 lockpick.. than u need to go to dungeons.. arround 90 get u some paragon chest from ettins and cyclops...

to do the tinkering trick you need your tinker around 10 points higher than your picker. so at around 31 right now you need a tinker that make boxes at skill level of about 41 then repeat as necessary.

Don't know if those exist anymore after the skill gain changes.

my wife and i went to oger lords room in Despise last night for her to gain in lockpicking , she is at 98.5 , has skills going down , and hasnt gained in it since we re-upped our account , we circled the room like 4 times , she went through 40+ picks and didnt gain once , not even the GGS gain ...........

any sugestions ?

At 95.5+ lockpicking a 70 tinker skill box(or GM,but 70 better as you wont break any picks at all) will take you all way to GM in Twisted Weald if you get discorded by a satyr.Expect an average of 2 hours or so from 95.5.
