i using this also at the blackrock area, only at 90 tho, my mage only has 25 dex so swings pretty slow and I put fencing on him from the stone, so I would hit more often tho, hehe

I have also done a little work on this in the Blackrock Motherlode gaining area but used a mageweapon for my non melee charactors and that works great too. Still Dex based for swings and skill check for hits... but it is soo great to see gains again. Even GGS is a major gain if done in blackrock area.

While training sometimes my horse will go grey, does this mean anything? will I still gain even though my horse isn't blue?

That just means your horse is doing a criminal action by attacking you back. It means nothign as long as it still says [Tamed] If you notice it is not Grey, it is probubly cause you havn't moved sence it started attacking you, that is all.

I am having a hard time gaining at Black Rock. I am at 70.5 and using focus attack with my horse. I was there for hours and only gained like 1.5 pts :|

Ok,

so what do i do if my ninja doesnt have a fighting skill.

My ninja's stats are as follows
Gm Magery
Gm Eval
Gm Resist
Gm Medi
97.5 Hiding
85.0 stealth
85.4 Ninjitsu

I can't ninjitsu to raise anymore, i manage to squeeze out .4 using shadowjump, but haven't gotten anything since those points.

If you have a soulstone, stone like resist over and pick up a fighting skill so you raise it futher, not sure how else you are going to do it.
