Never be sorry for the questions. Or there's a Dutch saying that should be used more elsewhere: "Questions are free."
To ressurect others with bandages, you need a minimum of 81 healing and 81 anatomy. More healing increases your chance of ressurection. More anatomy does not. Many people choose to have at least 90 healing, but I like having grandmaster (GM or 100) healing.

Next time you want to adjust your stats, it's far FAR easier to just set one of your skills that are capped to the up position for a while (choose the skill based on what stat you want to raise). I accidentally discovered that one day when I was fighting cyclopses and my focus hit 100 when I wasn't paying attention. I lost 65 points of strength in about 15 minutes that day. It wasn't a happy day.

And it could be a good thing to drop resisting spells a lot more. On the other hand, being cursed does suck. The template is where the tough questions start. resist spells is really an all or nothing skill. You should have as much of it as possible, or just drop it entirely. I dropped mine and put the extra skills into higher than 100 swords/tactics/anatomy as well as chivalry.

Farsight, may I ask how you start an encounter with a single mob (that is a challenege to you) and your techniques. - I'm just looking for a good base knowledge of how to use the Sammie skills along with the Chivalry skills.

To show how new I am I thought a lower weapon speed meant it was faster.... Man did I have my nuts handed to me using that weapon and lost some good armor. - Plus all the kids that just got home from school and logged in to watch it made fun of me. =(

Fun times tho!

Farsight... what's an inexpensive weapon with good stats for swords. I do better with a large sword that requires 2 hands rather than some of those 2-handed (a weapon in each hand) it seems. Is this true or not?

Again sorry for the noob questions but try asking these questions on EAs UO forums and I get a half dozen replies calling me a newb or a tit.... =/

also my stats now are: (From gear buffs. rings and bracelets)
96 str
103 dex
39 int

Silverleak you really need to get your str to atleast 100. Right now being a "noobie" it is really hard to get the items that you need. But keeping looking aroud. Also try to always used enhanced aids. They kinda act like +5 healing skill points. Also if you get attack by more then mob use MS.

Bushido skils
LS=lighting strike
Lightning Strike An attack with a 50% bonus to your chance to hit. Hit Chance Increase cap of 45% applies, however, if the Samurai is hit with Hit Lower Attack by an opponent, the full 50% applies to his Hit Chance.

MS=momentum strike
Momentum Strike 1070If you strike an opponent with this ability, you will automatically strike another nearby opponent. You receive a damage bonus if you kill the first opponent.

Chiv
CW= Consecrate Weapon
Consecrate Weapon Temporarily enchants the weapon the caster is currently wielding. The type of damage the weapon inflicts when hitting a target will be converted to the target's worst Resistance type. Duration of the effect is affected by the caster's Karma and lasts for 3 to 11 seconds.

DF=Divine Fury
Divine Fury Temporarily increases the Paladin's swing speed, chance to hit, and damage dealt, while lowering the Paladin's defenses. Upon casting, the Paladin's Stamina is also refreshed. Duration of the spell is affected by caster's Karma. The effect lasts for 7 to 24 seconds.

EofO= Enemy of One
Enemy of One The next target hit becomes the Paladin's Mortal Enemy. All melee damage dealt to that exact creature type is increased, but the Paladin takes extra damage from all other creature types. Mortal Enemy creature types will highlight Orange to the Paladin. Duration of the spell is affected by the Caster's Karma and lasts for 1.5 to 3.5 minutes.

Man don't go back, you just need some help. Don't worry about what people call you in the game. Just remember they were once. If you can come to the Atlantic I will help you anyway that I can. I will show you around and help you get the right equipment that you need.

A typical encounter with my samurai goes something like this.
1. I honor my opponent. This has many good effects such as adding to my perfection and giving me damage bonuses against that opponent and adding to my honor virtue. As well, when I kill my opponent, I regenerate some hit points and mana. Very very useful against thick spawns.

2. I kill my opponent. I typically heal with the bushido skill confidence and cast a lot of lightning strikes to keep up perfection.

3. Repeat.

I think of your weapon and armor as a part of your template. It's always there and a good weapon is as good at 100 skill points. For example, if you could find a repond slayer weapon (soul seeker costs only 200,000 gold or less if you shop around) and run off to Despise, you could kill Ettin in 2-3 swings depending on your other skills. With a normal weapon, it would take 5-6 swings. So you could easily double your damage output. My swordsman on Europa trained in shame fighting Earth elementals with an earth elemental slayer weapon he bought for 500 gold. Considering that I made the gold back in two elementals, I would say that's a good investment.

Anyhow, the properties that make a weapon good are these:
Swing speed increase: a little bit is good, a lot is great.
Hit mana leech: Every hit leeches a portion of the damage back to your character in the form of mana. Without it, I wouldn't last a minute.
Hit stamina leech: Keeping stamina up keeps your swing speed up. This may be more important than hit mana leech in the long run
Hit life leech: It isn't as important to have. You still have to heal even if you're leeching a lot of life.
Hit lower defense/attack: These are very underrated in a lot of pricing schemes. The first time I killed Rend(big BIG baddy) solo, I used a mace with only swing speed and hit lower attack as properties. It shocked me to death that it was even possible to kill Rend, let alone to kill him without mana and stamina leech.

Most other attributes are pretty overrated in my opinion. Damage increase could save you a lot of gold in putting damage increase on other items in your suit and is great to have as a new player.

Now you won't find any weapon with all of those attributes on it (and if you do, I want it!), but it would be good for you to find cheap weapons (shop around, you'll find them) and experiment with what kinds of benifits best suit your play style.

As for your armor. In the beginning, you will be best served by physical resist, at least 10 points per piece of armor you have. More is better. Later, you'll move to increasing your fire and energy resist to aid in hunting magic using creatures and then poison and cold resists. Later, you'll look for other benifits such as defense chance increase, which is the most important thing to have on any suit or luck or mana regeneration (Defense chance increase = DCI, mana regeneration = MR)

And give us a shot. Most people I've met can be quite helpful.
