The Bushido FAQ

**********ROUGH DRAFT**************

The Samurai uses the Bushido skill to aid in the honorable combat of evil foes.

What are the Bushido abilities?

Honorable Execution: Min skill: 25 Mana Cost: 0

When your enemy is about to fall, you can use this ability to deliver the killing blow. If the enemy dies, you get a swing speed boost (Swing speed increased by 0.25 sec) for 10 seconds BUT if the you do not slay them, you will get a huge resistance penalty (you skill in Magic Resist will be reset to 0 and all resists drop by 40%) for about 6 seconds or until you successfully Parry an attack.

Confidence: Min skill: 25 Mana cost: 10

Using this ability puts you in a stance of confidence allowing you to regain health and stamina with each successful Parry. The amount regained is dependent on Bushido skill.

Stamina Regained= 1-24
Health Regained= 1-10

As an added bonus, when you first cast Confidence you will begin to regenerate HP. This regeneration will continue until you reach the max amount of HP to be regained (15-40hp, dependent on Bushido skill level) or until you are damaged by attack or spell. ***Will check on rate to add to post***

Evasion: Min skill: 60 Mana Cost: 10

The reason you put Bushido on your template. Using Evasion puts you in a defensive stance that increases your chance to Parry by XX% for X seconds and allows you to Parry magical attacks like Direct Damage spells. You canot Parry Curses or stat/skill reducing abilities (like the Satyrs Dicordance ability) but you can Parry damage over time like Poison.

With Pub 43, Evasion was changed to scale with Bushido skill ad take into account tactics and Anatomy. The only info I found on this was sketchy at best. Ill need to do a TC testing to see if how I think that it works is really how it works....

************Will finish later******************8

I have a question: When I get disarmed and cast confidence, I do notice a significant improvement in hpr. How is this if you only regain health and stamina with each successful parry?

There is an initial burst of HP regen (don't know how much, but probably 1000) that will regen HP up to a certain amount (Bushido Skill dependant) as long as you are untouched (anything "done" to you, either damage, cursed, poisoned, mana vamped/drained, etc. will stop the HP Regen).

Re: The Bushido FAQ

It's a good complimentary form of healing, but since it is interruptable you need to time it right.

Also, there seems to be a timer on it for the HP Regen, if you get interrupted you have to wait a few seconds before you can get the Regen again. (but you can still cast it again to stay in the stance)

Re: The Bushido FAQ

I just gm'd Bushido and havent used it at all really but i was wondering about honorable execution. Can you only use it on someone when there below a certain % health or what? and whats the chances of striking them?

Re: The Bushido FAQ

Hehe. This guide needs updating I see.

Honorable execution most importantly HEALS you - As well as the SSI bonus. It also is important to remember that it deals bonus damage when combined with the Honor system. This way the risk that you fail to kill him with the execution is lessened. 0 mana cost.

The parry stance or whatever its called returns all blows that are parried if I have understood it correctly - Seems to work best against humanoids for some wierd reason though oO (Such as Yamutsos etc) Dont remember if this costs mana.

Evasion is mainly used vs casters - Which it is nice for - Anything else it's not worth using it, since it has a short timer and costs 10 mana.

Confidence like you said starts a healing regenerator and also activates the "stance" that heals you every time you succesfully parry an attack. Learn how to "time" it vs the monsters you fight so that it wont get interrupted! Costs 10 mana.

Lightning Strike has a higher % chance to hit and seems to do more damage as well. Use vs single, tough monsters. Also nice in PVP. Costs 5 mana.

Momentum Strike is great! When facing multiple monsters, be sure to use it! GREAT when you have a slow, hardhitting weapon. Also gives a big damage bonus if you kill the first monster with the hit. Ofc use this vs large mobs of monsters... It works like a charm if you ask me Costs... 10 or 5 mana.

Also, what is MOST important with bushido is that it increases the chance for your parry with 2-handed weapons.
Further on, it symbiots with the Honor Virtue. Honor monsters when you fight them, and gain in perfection. This will in the end lead to a big damage bonus.

Re: The Bushido FAQ

To be more precise about lightning strike, first of all, it maxes out your Hit Chance Increase to 45%. So using any HCI items along with Lightning strike is pointless.

Secondly, it doesn't actually do any more damage than a regular swing - however it has a % chance to deal a critical hit (based on your bushido skill. I believe at 120 Bushido the chance to crit is 20% ?). The critical hit bypasses the target's resists entirely, thus causing more damage.

Combine critical hits with high Perfection through the Honor virtue and you can land some pretty devastating blows (hits in the range of 120-200 damage approx.). In PvP the damage cap for critical hits is 35, so you'll never go over that with lightning strikes.

I dont agree totally with you, Khan. I use evasion even against dexxers!! It is sweet to know it takes 5 to 10 swings before they can get a disarm off! Plus, with max lmc and 13 mr by the time the "short" timer is up all my mana has replensih

Re: The Bushido FAQ

Hmm, allright, that actually does sound true. I guess if you have the mana to afford it, it chops away a huge chunk of DPS from the Dex monkeys.
