Re: New Necromancer

Ok I will try my best, this is a template that I tried but could not get the stats right was.....

110 Necro
110 SS
115 Swords
115 Parrying
100 Tactics
90 Poison
rest in med.

I don't know the pos or negs with necro/swords but I wanted to try. Since then I transfered the skills to mage.

Re: New Necromancer

My necro mage is primarily for PvM, not sure if that is your intent:

100 SS
105 Necro
110 Magery
100 SW
110 Meditation
110 Eval Int
115 resist

Frankly, it's a good damage producer but it fails a great deal on key high-level spells. I'd recommend dropping 10 points somewhere for 120 Magery and another 10-15 points for spellweaving 115. I'm trying to squeeze those in now...

Nice build, I would like to try something similar to this (you are missing 80 points though).
But I have a question though, what is the 90 poison for? Do you use a sword weapon with infecting move or is there any necro spell affected by poisoning?
And another question... my necro is now currently necro/mage/spellwheaver and I wanted to try a tank version of it to see if things like curse weapon(necro) immolating weapon(spellwheaving) are actually usefull, so I'd like too know what you think about the more warrior-like spells of necromancy and also the reason you decided to turn into mage.
Thanks for your contribution!

My necro is currently almost exactly like yours, the only difference is that I dont have resist, instead of it I have left over points in focus for extra mana regen.
I was considering to turn my necro mage into a more warrior type of build to see if the more warrior-like spells of necro and spellwheaving are actually usefull.
Thank for your contribution also.

QUESTIONS FOR BOTH OF YOU:
(and anyone else that wants to help me out)

What do you think about more warrior oriented spells like...?:
-attune weapon (absorb 50% enemy's weapon hit damage) SW
-immolating weapon (extra fire damage to weapon) SW
-curse weapon (weapon life drain effect) NECRO

And what do you think of the warrior oriented tranformations like...?:
-reaper form (ssi, +resists, -run_speed, -fire_resist) SW
-wraith form (hit mana leech, +phisical_resist, -other_resists) NECRO
-horrific beast (+melee_damage, +hp_regen) NECRO
-vampiric embrase (hit_life_drain, +stamina_regen, +mana_regen, -fire resistance, damage from garlic magery spells) NECRO

The reason I was thinking of dropping magery/eval for a more warrior-like necro/sw was because these look like nice bonuses that as a mage I am not taking advatange from... But since I am not a warrior I dont know if they are actually usefull, what do you guys think about these spells? Have you tried them out? Are they actually usefull or am I not missing out by not using them?

The is for swords. Poisoning has no affect on Necro Spells only Spirit Speak. As far as the 80 skill points, I put those in Meditation. I would take poisoning to 100. According to the new information from Chad you need 100 poisoning with weapon skil.

What spells would one cast?
Strangle, Corpseskin, Painspike, Poison Strike, Painspike, Poison Strike and so on..

Would one use Vampiric Embrace in pvper?
I would use it as Dexxer, but as Necro-Mage you really shouldnt use it because u get damage for every garlic spell u cast.

What is the highest skill points that one would need? (ex at 106 in margery you can cast all level 7 spells without fizzling)
With 105 u can cast Strangle without fizzling

If you want to hit harder go with concussions or crushing blows. Your tactics wont be that high and your up front weapon damage wont be that much.

The idea behind the necro/warrior is that you are going for spell disrupts. If you choose to go with poisoning, a cleaver with bleed/poison is hot. Poison/fire are strong for necros so once you corpse them your poison will do more damage...bleed is a back up to poison for fizzling and heal disrupts. Strange + painspike is just another DoT that adds to the severity of thier situation.

With this character 50-100 dex is probably key. While you will be using your weapons frequently, you wont be only using your weapons. Strangle/pain spike/poison strike/specials all take a significant amount of mana. So you would be better off with more int then dex.

Re: New Necromancer

My necro macer is:

120 Macing
120 Bushido
120 Spirit Speak
120 Resist
105 Necro
90 Tactics
45 Meditation

I'm really just starting to mess with this guy, and I like him a lot so far. I still see a tweaking of stats, mine are pretty balanced on him, but I need a tick more mana and I can live with a tick less dex, so we'll see. He's around 100/120/70 right now with items. Probably drop dex to 100 and take intel up on him.
