Spells Fizzle

Hi,

I'm really frustrated with my mage. Is there any way to cast a spell without a message saying that "concentration disturbed, spell fizzles" while you are being bombarded by spells of an air elemental, or an archers arrows?
I have 110 Mage, 110 Eval, 110 Med, 100 Res, 100 Inscription, working on fishing now, and can easly take care of ogre lords and such, but cannot fight with two simple magic casters or couple of archers.

Need urgent advice..

Ya need to cast protection, which prevents the disruption of spells.
But you take a hit in how fast you can cast.

Welcome to UO Forums antiochian

You can do what Adam suggest or learn to "time" your spell casting. Also running off screen so you can catch your breath and precast a spell will help also.

Welcome to the forums!!! Hopefully you find all you look for!

You have two options. Protect is a catch all (has penalties to FC and resists).
YOu can also get anatomy or wrestle. Or a mage wep-0 weapon. You fizzle in combat against melee types when they hit you. Having the above will help you resist that.

Yea though Wrestling or a Weapon Skill wont help being disturbed by other spells

Welcome to UOForums,antiochian, hope you fix your fizzing spells by trying the advice above.

Also, carry some cooked fish steaks in your backpack,to eat if you get hungry.

Thank you guys. I don't beleive I have missed protection spell until now...

As for fish steaks, they are still raw, I haven't decided on cooking yet..

Say what? I was pretty sure Protection actually DECREASES cast time, however you take a hit to your resists.

You can buy them cooked from various vendors

Also, everyone has whats called a Joat = Jack of all trades.

Each character you create comes with a skill of 20 in everything.
It doesnt show ,but it means you can do a little of everything,should you need to

Actually, each HUMAN charachter has the JOAT.
Elves have other bonuses.

From Five on Friday:
"Does casting Protection reduce your FC cap to 2?"
Yes and no - the Protection FC reduction is applied AFTER the cap takes effect. If your total FC is at the cap of 4 (for Ninjitsu, Bushido, Spellweaving, and, under certain circumstances, Chivalry,) then yes, it'll reduce it to 2. If you're at a cap of 2 (for Magery, Necromancy, and under other circumstances, Chivalry) casting Protection will reduce your FC to 0. (The above, of course, assumes that you have the gear to be at the cap in the first place - if not, Protection just reduces your current FC by 2.)
