First let me say i did research, but cant say one way or another my findings or factual..looking for you guys opinions...

Iam currently building a mage....not sure which way iam going to go with her yet.
My plan is to atleast gm magery before i touch another skill...
I have 400 skill pts total and 80 of which are magery.
With items I easily buff that to 100 and beyond if I used a scroll.

Is there an actual damage modifier when calculating magery skill.
Will I do more damage, if my magery is 120 as opposed to 100?
I researched and couldnt find much about it.
My reasoning is this, not to often do you cast 7-8th lvl spells in PVP and even in PVM the success or fail of getting off a 7th-8th lvl spell rarely means death...
If higher magery just gives you a higher success rate at casting, I think its totally useless to waste 20 skill pts and 30m on a 120 power scroll.
maybe even just 20 pts in poisoning or script would show some damage gains that you could actualy use?

Just an idea, as i dont know if any of this is factual please dont take this information and run with it.

The only effect Magery has for any damage output is for Mind Blast. (although the higher you have Magery, the better your effects from buffs/heals are)

Eval Int and actual Int stats (+items and GM Inscription) are where you get boosts for all other damage spells for Magery.

Thats what I was thinking....so how popular is it to run with 120 magery on a mage?

I think 120 magery is very useful. It often means the difference in getting off that spell or not. Maybe not life and death but very helpful. Also if you are using a scribe mage the difference in slayers is huge. Personally I would run it on everyone of my chars that have magery if I could afford the scrolls. Some templates just dont have room for it but with the scroll you can use jewelry to bump it as skill cap can be exceeded with jewels and items.

Aye magery skill gain is incredibly easy now, gm in 2 days or less what used to take months. Yes lrc made a huge difference as did allowing you to cast spells against your spellbook, taking out the 8x8 method, jewels, etc etc
