It was an event that had blackrock, blackrock elementals, toxic ooze and nether vortexs. In the area that they spawned you could get accelerated gains and dig up large quanities of blackrock. They have since turned that off. Now a miner has a small chance of digging up blackrock and with it could spawn a blackrock elemental. Blackrock can be used to cast the armaggedon spell, at one time could be turned in and recieve a nice reward (this is what is getting credit for blowing up Old Haven) or kept on your person and turn random spawn into blackrock infected spawn (not positive that you have to have the blackrock or just to have cast the armaggedon spell for this). Infected spawn would then be aggressive to all who come near.

use the wand and whack away at a golem.BUT you have to be at 80 magery with wand equipped, which means you have to jewel up to make up for the skill reduction.

i agree magery above 102 is a pain to raise but not as bad as some of the skills like taming

Trying this out, but not sure where black rock is....right now I'm just hanging around yew casting when I have full mana, at 53.4 I unequipped my -25 wand and can still cast bless pretty steadily. Where is black rock? Is it still viable to skill up like this guide says in black rock? Also at 53.4 is it wise to keep my -25 wand unequipped, I'm a new player so I'm having to learn as I go.

The enhanced gain areas have been turned off. You can duplicate that type of gains if you can find scrolls of alcracity (sp?) in the skill you want. They only last 15 minutes.
