Re: Peacemaking Skill?

That is what I would do. Now if hunting and you want to use targeted peace. Wear the jewels then . No need to fail if you can avoid it.

Re: Peacemaking Skill?

I tried to type this in 3 times last night, but connection was acting up.

First, congrats on the gains. Expect things to slow down at 90 or so, but keep grinding it out.

Second, keep music at 100. Do NOT go over that. Not until you hit your target peace skill.

Third, Use only NPC bought instruments for skill gaining

Now, a thought on your proposed template. Provocation has it's greatest use for a tamer when you are in heavy spawn areas, to keep spawn from ganging your pet. Now, this takes out 2 spawn, with a delay of 12 seconds between skill use. You get the benefit though of the monsters damaging each other.
With peace, target peace will reset once every 5 seconds. So you get 2 monsters peaced in 10 seconds. In larger spawn situations, this often serves as a best recourse. Down side, you still gotta kill em.

So, the question becomes, do you anticipate being in heavy spawn situations ALOT? If this template is for champ spawns, I would keep the provo.

If you are not doing heavy spawns, have you considered discord instead? Discord will greatly reduce the kill time for each creature, and is very helpful on peerless.

Of course, you can have both, and just stone them off and on depending on what you are hunting.

Re: Peacemaking Skill?

My long term plan (yeah, we all have one) is to train discordance up too and place on SS frag until needed.

I already have item ID and Armslore SS'ed. Who knows, one day they will be useful.

Oh Snap! (LoL, who says that anymore?), I forgot why I revisited this thread. I am up to 70 real skill in Peacemaking. I took off the jewels.

Re: Peacemaking Skill?

I personally think that Provo is great for a Bard char with only Magery as a support skill. Tamers have alot less use for it...

Like Paul said, Discord would be much more useful unless you plan on doing alot of champ spawn or something...

That being said, you template is pretty close to mine:

115 Taming/Lore/Vet/Music/Peace
109 Magery
100 Carto or LP

With the help of some nice jewelry, the only non modded skill is Carto or LP.

I like at least 110 Lore for being able to Lore anymonster in the game. Its pretty handy to know what youre up against. Ithink at GM you can Lore anything you want to tame to check its stats/skills/resists before you waste to much time on something.

The 115 in each also offers more stable space than 120 Taming, GM Lore/Vet.

Im thinking about training up Disco to swap with Carto/LP when Im not going to be doing chests for a while. Once you see what someone with 120 Discord is capable of, youll want to train it up as soon as possible...its insane.

Re: Peacemaking Skill?

Discord is an awesome skill. Before you totally toss out provo though. Would like to point out. Once you get two mobs fighting. They will fight until one of them is dead. Target peace has a timer. It does not last forever and wears off faster if damage is being done.

You can kill them with any of your other skills. If your a mage summons/damaging spells. Fighter with your fighting skills. Tamer with your pets. Tailor with your sewing kits.....err strike the last idea .

Re: Peacemaking Skill?

A disco mage/bard w/ peace is very handy, as is full bard w/ magery. YOu would also be doing max damage with firehorn ( gret for small critters mobbing you).
You would use earth ele's or EV to take down critters. I like tamer better, but this is a mite better at champ spawns, as you do not have to worry about pets attacking things you do not wish them to, AND you have a fighting chance against reds.

120 music/peace/disco
120 mage
120 eval
120 med

Re: Peacemaking Skill?

I have been thinking about this template again.

This is my projected (a summary)
Mage 100
Tame 100
Music 100
A. Lore 100
Vet 100
Peace 100
Provo or Disco 100 (I am still on the fence with this one.)

Ok, going further with this girl (Daelan Dessarin), which of those skills would be the most beneficial for a PvM character to take to 115 or above? Is there really a need to take any skills to 120 for PvM?

Re: Peacemaking Skill?

First off. Congrats on the skill gain. It can/does get boring .

Provo:
If a mob has you agro'd target him first and then a second mob. If you succeed he will forget about fighting you (as long as you don't stand right next to him) and attack the second target.

Peace:
Area peace will stop all fighting/agro'd for a few seconds. Then the mobs will aquire a target.
Target peace will stop only the one mob but for a longer periond then area. If the mod doesn't take any damage it will last even a little bit longer.

Music:
At 100 music you will never fail the music check. Anything above that gives you an add boost to success of the other barding skill.

Re: Peacemaking Skill?

you shouldn't train music past 100 until you get other bard skills where you want them. it would be harder to train the other skills with 120 music already. i have several legendary bards scattered across 4 shards with just about every template combination. my favorite bard skill is provoke, like vepl said, "Provo'ing two AW's onto each other is still a great feeling". provo seems to be of greater use in doom. my atlantic bard almost never dies in doom with provo cause he can avoid being targeted pretty easily. on the other hand, my LA bard disco/archer is always good for a few deaths from dark father because he gets targeted all the time.

Re: Peacemaking Skill?

every 2 points in music over 100 is like 1 bonus point in the other bard skills. the higher your skill the slower the gains. it may not make that much difference but with music being one of the fastest skills to raise it will save you some time to complete the template.

Re: Peacemaking Skill?

at 100 you will never fail the music check. they had to have some reason for you to use music scrolls and that was really the only way.
