Runic disapointment....

So, I have a few Runic Hammers laying around and I dont have alot of good weps for my Fencer so I burnt a Copper and a Bronze hammer today.

I actually had decent results with the Copper. Best of the lot being a Reptile Slayer, 35 DI, 25 Mana Leech.

Then, feeling lucky, I ran through the Bronze hammer...frustration and disappointment ensued. Out of the 35 uses I received:

7 Mage Weapons
7 SC weps (2 with no FC -1)
5 UBWS
6 had resists on them

Also, I only got 2 with Hit Spells on them and they were both Magic Arrow. The best of that bunch was Life Leech 27, Mana Leech 37, Stam Leech 20, DI 35.

Now, I can understand the frequency of Elemental damage, but the other results seem a little silly to me. 20% chance of the weapon being a Mage Weapon? 15% chance for the weapon to get an FC-1 on it?

UBWS and resists are just wasted slots to me as well...

What does everyone think of these results? On par with what they should be? Better? Worse?

Re: Runic disapointment....

Yes, most smiths will tell you that anything made with a hammer below Agapite won't be all that great. You might luck out occasionally, but you won't have any sort of consistent good results with low level runics.

Re: Runic disapointment....

I almost agree with Rhus. Bronze and lower you use hoping for a super slayer. If you get anything else it is an add benefit. I have been told gold and up are pretty good ones. Haven't used my gold one yet to prove it

Re: Runic disapointment....

Vepl is correct. You can make some decent weapons with a gold hammer, but probably only 1 or 2 per gold hammer. Agapite doesn't do that well either. Verite and Valorite obviously give the best, but I burned through a valorite hammer a few days ago and got nothing good, but the one before that I made that kryss I posted in the pvp forum so that kinda makes up for it. It is literally a crap shoot, and the odds are not in your favor to make something good, but if you keep trying, you'll get that one weapon that'll make all the work worth it.

What Vepl said...

Slightly OT, but do you craft your weps with iron ingots or with a color?

Re: Runic disapointment....

I always use Dull Copper for the added durability. My paladin is always casting Consecrate Weapon so elemental damages on a wep arent a big deal to me...

I may use Shadow sometimes too if it has the durability bump too...have to check what the difference is...

Re: Runic disapointment....

The ingot type you use doesn't get better results with the same type runic you use.

The only thing that ingot color does is apply the damage as a different element other than physical (unless using gold, which also adds 40 Luck).
