stealth

ok.. anyone have any tips for this skill...

figured id reinstall UO for the free trial period... still not sure about ML.. but ive always wanted stealth on my char and have never had much luck training it....

8x8

wear normal clothes form 0-65
ringmail arms/gloves from 65-85
ringmail legs, studded arms, ringmail gloves, studded gorget, normal tunic form 85+

no need to 8x8.. just stealth everywhere... when I train stealth on a character, I am invisible all the time unless I'm chatting..

Eppy is right on with the armor/clothing.. I wore full plate from 90-100 though... failed more and thus checked hiding more frequently and thus quicker gains.

well the problem is... i hide, and try to stealth and i fail... i have not once succeeded and all im wearing is a robe.. my skill is 25.5 and it was bought......

you must have at least 80 hiding for stealth to work

Eeep.. yah.. 25 points in stealth or hiding isn't going to be very usefull... Ideally you want 100 Hide/80 Stealth for no fail in leather armor.. remember you're doing a Hide check every so many steps... If you have less than 100 hiding, I guarantee you will never fail... except when its important... I swear the gui has an AI and loves to watch you fail right in the middle of a bunch of folks who suddenly eye all the pretty things you're wearing. *chuckles*

I've been working stealth also... I am at 60 something but boosted it with some fancy and expensive artifact legs...

actually i gm'ed hiding.. not a very hard skill... but it just seems like it takes forever to get gains when they are based on success and i almost never succeed... once in the course of an hour.... then i gave up for the night

I've got three characters with Hiding and stealth just because I think hiding is pointless without stealth.I do have this to say when SE was released the require ment for stealth was lowered so those that started out as a ninja could stealth when starting out. last time I took on the template you start off with like 49 fencing,50 ninjistu 50 hiding and 30 stealth. So saying you need Hiding at 80 to stealth is no longer vailded for the last year now.

Just letting a friendly reminder that things have changed along in these for the professions SE brought in.

but 8x8 is pretty fast to gain up hiding and stealth. But one of my stealther's is my thief.;)

is it possible to ride an ethy while im in stealth mode.Iive only 83 hiding at the moment but 105 stealth (with legs ring etc)

nopes, you can't stealth while mounted.
