Do you put a mains lead direct into the monitor or does it use a mains adaptor?

its on a anti surge extension lead. Along with all my PC bits like speakers, tower section etc etc

Reason I ask is that if there is a mains adaptor in the loop it could be that rather than the monitor. Especially if the standby light does not even illuminate. A mutli meter would prove this either way.

I'm going to have to go with the solider options.

As things age, and dry out, seperation can occurr.

As things heat up, the soilder/connection expand, and then seperate. The "days" to recover just means its taking longer for the small gap to close and make a solid connection.

I gave up a nice 21 inch monitor when the red was going, and it was going to cost more to fix then replace.

Yes Solonoid, its one of those 3 pin kettle plug affairs, that goes straight in the back of my monitor from the mains.

Right-o. Dry joint then. You could get lucky and spot it and whack some solder on it but sods law it will be tucked away some where. Might be time for a new one.
