Re: Sosaria, The Roleplay Land Takeover Game!

For any of those people who are bored, lost or generally lacking motivation.. do what some of those poor peoples sigs say.

Give Vesper a try. Give Yew (gah, it burns!) a try. Give Trinsic, Cove or someone else a try. Sure were a strange collection of people from many different political persuasions and some might consider advertising in such a thread rather callous but its very easy for folk to get demotivated.

Vesper, that is the free Republic of, presently collects atleast 10 folk an evening in the Militia and often more. The Veeties are usually around in the Swaggers for between 5-8 sometimes more. Our illustrious and fair Alliances for all folk who wish to be free usually mean another 5-10 people will show up over the evening and again more in many cases.
Most evenings you will get 20+ people turning up over the course of the night, thats plenty if you want to do something.

It is very hard to find RP if we are all wandering the world looking for it. I know that if I go "looking" for RP I very rarely find it. Many reasons for that, least of all finding a reason for Olk to be wandering the known universe (let alone getting involved in the myriad of little foreign plots) is difficult. If I however spin something in Vesper (or try to) then something is likely to happen. If I am in Vesper and someone else tries to do something, thats atleast one person they can count on to get involved. It is also hard if were all doing secret events away from the eyes of the public. It makes things interesting for those who are involved.. but its not great for most of the player base.

Admittedly Kaelith you had the usual "blue problem" when you sat in the Swaggers a few days ago, you do have to be a bit more.. pushy these days to get into things. Call everyone miserable deviants and start preaching about the virtues (or mushrooms) and more often than not people will react. The problem being that if you RP a quiet (sane) person.. its very easy to live a quiet (boring) life unless you push the boat out.
But then I stand by my not greatly appreciated view that everyone should be in a RP guild and preferably a warred guild and if not, why not? Its not a requirement.. it just means you usually have to make more of an effort to break into the scene.

Anyway. West Vesper is mine. This foolish lack of knowledge by foreigners shall not stand. Attempts to take it shall be met with force and it shall only be yeilded for a great sacrifice of blood. That blood shall be shed upon the fair Vesperian feilds.

I know I had the blue problem, but I am still unsure as to how to play my new character and it's all up in the air.

Otherwise I think what you're saying makes some sense.. for an insane person that is ;)

It's the same old story of encouraging people to join the main factions rather than the "inevitive" small guilds. although new guilds are always welcome at the same time! better to have them in a new guild than not there at all and sometimes new guilds work out!

No one ever comes to Vesper to play with -V-! We always go out looking for trouble!

Pretty much the same for A^K and Strongholt...but then again when people are pretty sure if they go to Vesper or Strongholt they gona get spanked its hardly suprising no one goes there unless they go in a big group and get whined at for ganking.

That could be done in Trinsic, all the guilds that are around there could have their own area.

Thats true Paladis, i went to Strongholt for the first time the other day and i was bloody impressed with all your real estate

The problem with both V & A^K is we dont have a set area that can have PvP! Trinsic have the gates and Grd have that nice area by Stonekeep. Vesper doesnt really have gates, although pvp in the main bank island would be nice

But, we are both aggressive guilds, so it seems more logical that we attack!

Re: Sosaria, The Roleplay Land Takeover Game!

why do guilds now need set grounds for pvp? i thought guilds fought each other for IC reasons on any ground that they can tactically win? -V- fights for vesper and thus should fight anywhere in vesper don't need a marked out area for it. the fact vesper doesn't have walls means you don't have a bottle neck, same goes for strongholt.

pvp, like everything in RP should organically just happen due to the climate. a GMs and AGMs job is just to make sure people don't do it unreasonably and to make sure the story of our community keeps rolling on ok.

Re: Sosaria, The Roleplay Land Takeover Game!

Unfortunatly that doesnt work!

Since ive joined V has been increasingly active, but due to having more members online, everything we do is considered excessive force, unless we pre-plan it! Which isnt very organic at all, the idea of the rules is to continue to make the game hidden whilst we RP.

Attacking Trinsic with 20 people and finding 3 defenders wouldnt happen, so its best to make sure a defence is organised. But thats just my opinion...

But yes, the non-combat RP is organic, but usually evolves around small inter-player interactions!

Re: Sosaria, The Roleplay Land Takeover Game!

I see your point, but that's where AGMs and GMs send a message ahead of an attack, whether by a few days or by an hour to make sure it is ok and to make some preparations.

Your average guild member shouldn't be made aware of any of these things though, it's my belief that these things shold be dealt with at the leadership level so that the members can just play the game to the most immersive amount, without knowing all the working, which quite often dispell the illusion.

Re: Sosaria, The Roleplay Land Takeover Game!

Wise words Kaelith and I agree 100%

Sadly post pvp there are two types of player:

type a - oh lol you wtf pwnd us but ju w8 2 nxt tim was gd fun nway

type b - You said you were coming at 8pm and it was 815pm when you arrived by which time my forces had all logged on to alts to go to the Prancing Pony darts contest. You then outnumbered us by 15 to 10 and you proceeded to attack *even though we were outnumbered* and after the agreed time of attack. I even saw one of your players breaking the "flee" rule and I am sure that at least one of your players logged back into the battle on an alt just to attack ************* because ooc there are some issues. Please if you wish to attack ************** again please stick by what was agreed and the time and the placee and the rules. If you persist in this acrimonious and selfish "war" against us we will have to peace you.
