The map is a great idea, but i don't think it's realistically going to happen or work properly. this is mainly due to the fact that guilds can't muster armies consistantly to represent numbers that would ICly be within areas. i think wars and territory acquisition just has to be done respectively and kept within a greater story, which could be initiated by a guild wishing to expand it's borders, but sholdn't tread on peoples toes.


uniting the knightly orders would have been amazing. pelleus and i put a lot of time into getting it started and when pelleus dropped out just became too much. i think we progressed a lot while we had the boards active, but it quickly died mainly due to, as tabbs said, GMs unwilling to give up their power. it could still work, you just got to convince the new orders that they should join the old orders and make something worthwhile, rather than just another attempt to make yet another order.

i've suggested it already to people, but maybe it would be an idea to get some of our heads back together again? decardo, tabbs, myself, taggart? get discussing things and we might come up with a way.

anyway, this is probably for another thread. map idea is very very nice, i don't think it would work but it would certainly be nice to be able to see a map at any time with up to date territory control. this would tie in very nicely if the knightly orders did finally decide to cooperate at least!

I really enjoyed working with you Kaelith when we originally all got our heads together over this. You feel the same way i do on a lot of things...it was a pleasure bashing ideas out with you, and i would welcome that again anytime.

Same with you matey! even though i don't regret joining -V- when i joined RP, i do wish i'd had more to do with the rest of the knightly community from the beginning.

even thogh i don't play UO and tbh don't expect to be back anytime soon, if ever, i've enjoyed helping tabbs re-organise KH with elliot and emery and i'd love to help out with admin or anyway i can with knight stuff. you just can't do this kind of stuff in other games!

going backto the thread topic, an idea like this would be impossible in any other game except UO. near impossible anyway. UO is just far more manipulatable (is that even a word?) than any other MMO.

I hope i can help out with the Chivalric Idea once more.
I still think the original idea of a Core Knight Order with various chapters an awesome one...it gives us soemthing to strive towards even if the end result is years away.

It's a fine idea Tigurius and i'm not putting it down. But a few points that need to be kept in mind to make it work are -

1 - Arranging and setting up battles takes time, arranging and setting up enough battles to keep the idea moving forward would take a hell of allot of time up.
2 - Its mostly only the gms or perhaps agms who bother to set things up so it only means more work.
3 - If each guild appointed a war master, someone to help the gm arrange these battles it would likely help the idea progress.
4 - Smaller guilds lands should not come into question. We should just focus this idea around 3-4 major towns. Smaller guilds can find IC reasons to help one side or the other im sure.

Don't let it die. I'm dying to have a war like this in Europa. I'm fighting in a lot of RP figths and the worst part of them is that they have no concequences whatsoever.

I'm willing to help by either supervising or taking part from within a guild. Hell, talk has been in the air for a new try for an "evil" guild in Europa being formed.

A Guild needs valued members to help run things like this, its an ideal role for AGms really.

I would love to see a Guild of Dark Renowned Knights, for even tainted Knights can be chivalrous ( at least in public ). Its something i have toyed with for a long time now as in my UO RP history my character have always been tied to the more virtuous side.

yes, the number of times i considered going "evil" was many. but i think the only way an evil guild is going to take off in any major way is if you get a truly great, charismatic GM who is dedicated and realistic. there have been innumberable "evil" guilds which have had great ideas behind and good RPers, but not since the old days has there been a really good GM capable of making a sizeable, well constructed guild.
