Re: RoE ideas

I wouldn't mind as all the expensive stuff (Dyed) is insured...I have a tendency to go for suicide things if I do a PvM event.

That being said I'd only make gold/gems/etc be lootable. 99% Of the people forget the yellow bag anyhow and that should make up for it. Plus how much gold could you be carrying on you (be sensible, don't loot checks if people happen to carry them)

I wouldn't loot anything else. Partly because IC it's not a decent thing to do and Covians are decent. And partly because it tends to tick people off if they have to restock on some simple things like bandages, arrows or potions.

I can see the added value of gold/gems. I can see the added value of the looting of weddingbands or the likes for RP purposes (always supply an easy path to retrieve the item if requested). I wouldn't loot armour, bandages, arrows, potions, reagents or whatever people need to actually resupply if lost.

Re: RoE ideas

To a certain extent this is already all in place - well the obvious bits

if you read the ROE they are currently thus:

"All players must carry a yellow bag in which items available for looting or stealing must be kept. In addition to one or more items from this bag, food, drink, gems, and up to 1000 gold coins may be taken per victim."

Which gives you some spoils of war doesnt it? It gives robbers an income doesnt it?

Armour is usually specifically made for the recipients body size so looting it is ridiculous as an idea not ot mention in real terms would you be able to carry a full suit of plate armour around with you?

omg

Well yes i can!

Cos in UO i can carry a table and 16 chairs around on my backpack!

phat loot!

Totally true. Almost no one carries them around or has any idea that it contains "lootable" loot. I carry one myself and always used to keep some bandages, gold, gems, etc. inside. However I eventually emptied it because I wanted the extra carrying capacity and no one ever takes anything from it anyway .

As for being able to loot the hell outa the next bloke you fell in battle, Im not sure I agree with it 100%. Perhaps there should be a limit on the number of items you can take? Or a percentage when it comes to stackables (i.e. 50% of their bandages). I dont carry around anything I cant replace though, no Tokuno dyed armor or anything of the like. When I first entered the RP scene I was sure that I was going to be jumped a few times and have everything stolen, but I have yet to enter a battle without mutual consent. I havent been around as long as some of the hardened veterans, but I have yet to see any blatant abuse of the RP system in place.

For those that have dyed items (come to think of it, I do have a dyed quiver I use), just insure the item. I know sure as hell im keeping my quiver insured no matter what. I have very little money and cant afford to replace it. If someone wants my ringmail sleeves, they can have them! Easily replaced.

Re: RoE ideas

Repeat

if you read the ROE they are currently thus:

"All players must carry a yellow bag in which items available for looting or stealing must be kept. In addition to one or more items from this bag, food, drink, gems, and up to 1000 gold coins may be taken per victim."

So they dont have a yellow bag? You can snitch those items listed above.

Those items are deemed "worth" stealing.

Bandages? Worth stealing?

Yah - in real life im a house breaker - I dont worry about the electrical goods - Im after the bedsheets to rip up to make bandies out of

Bandage stealing comes from the whole pk thing - if you get pkd in felucca you will have your bandies stolen as the pker knows even if you can get a res, then without your bandies you are easy meat.

Re: RoE ideas

If bandages kept you alive in real life like they do in UO, then yeah I'd probably loot them. The reason we take bandages is to restock ourselves mid fight.

The problem with this is that the rich players (not characters) can insure their gear, whereas the poorer players cannot. It's why CoY never allowed pwerscrolls; because the rich players always have an advantage and that doesnt make good roleplay.

The biggest issue with this is that no one does it. If I were to loot 1k gold and a few gems off someone they would surely have a meltdown, weather its in the "rule book" or not. It has become the unofficial standard that you simply do not loot other players.

As for insurance money, I dont have more than 40k total on Europa, and its completely possible to insure several items on that. It only takes about 15-20 minutes to make 10k just by smacking around ettins in despise.

I don't want to enter the argument, please, but I voted wrong. I voted Agree, when I do NOT agree. Thank you.

1) Your rules on yellow bags need to be enforced then. Speak to your GM's.

2) Gahering 40k in Despise might not fit the character involved. And when your fighting dozens of battles a week it becomes a bit of a chore.

People don't forget the yellow bag rule, they just don't bother because it's stupid. =P

It's a good idea, but it doesn't work because people rather keep their things.

Re: RoE ideas

Yellow bag rule is the most useless rule in ERPA and CoRE, why people still insist on using it is really behond me. Its never worked as it should in nearly 7 years and guess what it never will.
