Re: Religion, Nobility and the other stuff
There is the Religion of the Virtues, and the Gargoyles for in game generated stuff.
Plus there have been many religions created by players in UO for the pueposes of Roleplay. Also the Roleplay community has a nobility system, at one time it was very well done. Nowadays its very much a looser system with people taking up titles as they wish. But the original bestowed ones like the Duke of Trinsic, the Baron of Vesper remain alongside some others like the Barony of Cove. Some other titles remain in peoples mind like the Duke of Spiritwood, and the Lordship of Magincia, but theres no players of family lines left of them. There are in game books created by players detailing all this. They are held amongst various player run libraries such as the ShadowCourts very own in Rhovanion.

Re: Religion, Nobility and the other stuff
Very sorry to hear that about the nobility system...
People, who belonged to the nobility used to have dutys towards their people as well as liberties. It has always been very nice to emote a kneefall to someone, who deserved it - for they gained their title by good rp. If evrybody can pic a title, as they wish, it's not the true thing. No reason for my char to bow or make a kneefall. Nobility is usually a thing to get, when deserve, for your rp has to show, that your char _is_ of nobility. With disciplin and manners... evrything you see at court. what a pity... |

Re: Religion, Nobility and the other stuff
With the Elven Guild we follow Tolkien based religion, but we do not have nobles amongst our members as like Decardo i believe just taking on a noble title is silly. So no Elf Queens/Kings or princesses/princes. There are one or two members who have a "noble" background but that is all that it is, a background. In regards to our religion most can be found on our website and some can be found IC in the Elven Quarter Library.

Re: Religion, Nobility and the other stuff
Welcome to UOForums Cole Dunmoor.
Yes sadly as Decardo says, the 'nobility' of UO has rather gone away. I remember Lord Ao, returning some 18 mths or so, once a very well respected member of the game. I saw first hand the way his character was laughed at and harrassed in game. As stated also, the longest serving'Nobles' still playing are the Duke of Trinsic and Baron of vesper. I kow a lot of 'Virtue' stuff is being introduced,as a part of the 10 th Anniversary, but imo, its too little too late. Its been said by a rep of EA,that they have no intention of finishing off the Virtue system, available on the Paper doll gump. The Virtues as a roleplayed concept,is fast fading also. Times change and I guess players have to adapt to the current trends. ![]()

Re: Religion, Nobility and the other stuff
If you are interested in religion and are keen enough to develop it, you could activate the Avatarian Church. Its ready-made and just needs someone to hold it together. The player who started it has sadly left, but the beauty of the idea is that it is not a guild, any character in any guild may join it.
Its all there, worked out for you, but, of course, it takes effort and sufficient enthusiasm to launch and run it... |

Re: Religion, Nobility and the other stuff
Should clarify that the Avatarian Church concept advertised there is obviously not the one in use by Grd.
Yew of course has had nobles with the original three Dukes and now with Klion and Caden D'Gar taking up roles as Lord Protector and Baron respectively. |

Re: Religion, Nobility and the other stuff
Ah sorry Dart. I forgot about Grds nobility system.
I was thinking back to the old days when ERPA introduced the Regent and the system that stemmed out from that. Grd was a seperate entity back then. Its better now we all interact freely with one another. |
