Hello, if anyone could help me here that would be great. Everytime i craft a peice of samurai armour using smithing instead of tailoring the armour peice comes out with "Mage Armour". This is very annoying as i want to use samurai plate armour! Does this mean i am going to have to use studded and leather instead of plate? It is crafted without using runics or special wood so it should be ok?

In the RoE it says - Player crafted armour & weapons only, but no runics and no special wood items.*

It's been a while since I made samurai armour. I "think" exceptional armour gets the "mage armour" property. So if you can get a smith that can't create exceptional you should be OK. Of course you then lose the exceptional bonus resist

if I remember right, people know that samuria armour has mage armour and it's ok. don't hold me to that, but i think it was brought up when it came out and was all ok...

Real oriental armour was formed from laminates and unfortunatly we dont have that facility in UO so i guess the devs came up with making it mage armour.

It was agreed by CoRE in the very beginning that GM crafted oriental armour which always comes with the mage armour effect is allowed by the RoE.

As a GM, I can concur with both Decardo and Kaelith. GM crafted Samurai armour is allowable under RoE. There is no way of avoiding the GM crafted "Mage Armour" bonus.

In the main there shouldnt be a problem as only a warrior would wear any sort of metal armour and in this respect most peole are sensible about it. No proper characterised mage would wear metal armour. So if you happen to see a mage wearing plate samurai armour, the player is rather lame I'm sorry to say.

As a GM, I can tell you to just go ahead and wear wtf you think is good roleplay and if some whiney, pedantic git cries that it's "a magic property" - you just don't war them.

Your predecessor guild had metal samurai armour in CoY under a far stricter LoW. If that's not a good enough blessing, I don't know what is.

Is it? Is it really? Then I suppose Grd are the biggest joke in Europa roleplay are they? And the Elven Guild are, what?

We don't have a community any more, we don't have ERPA, CoY or CoRE anymore. We have a vaguely neutral RoE and a bundle of guilds didn't even sign it, they're still warred to a keg load of folks and they're still happily interacting and getting about their own business. If this guy sends out war invites saying "yeah, we pretty much stick to the RoE" that's going to be good enough and most of us will war him.

/shrug. End of the day, how seriously can ANY guild be taken any more? Even the most established like DoT or -V- have few toys to play with nowdays.
