Re: Penalty for dying

I would say stat loss would be pointless. If someone dies the death time should be longer. One or two hours.

Because at the end of the day we're not all looking to go into that much depth, we need have a balance between enjoyment and good roleplay. Also the whole death/unconciousness/injury aspect of our roleplay makes the least sense and for the most part is something i'd rather enjoy if given the choice.

There should be consequnces to RPvP, and I am firmly in favour of item looting as a means of giving that consequnce.

Look what you did, you made the baby cry, and I who just finished breast-feeding him.

Anyhow, Raziel, that's a stupid suggestion; why? Because it has no motivation whatsoever. No way I'm joining in a war if I'm going to stay out of game play for 2 hours, I'll just end up logging out and not coming back until the next day.

Then again (look how I throw it back and forth like coloured juggling balls (I those)) it might make armies more careful and more eager to flee, which in turn destroys the thought of formation battle.

Formation fighting never really existed in the sort of 'period' of warfare that UO reflects, nor would it have ever taken place on the small scale that our battles do.

I like formation fighting, but im a realist and know it's not plausible in post AoS PvP. Mortal strike doomed formations.

Re: Penalty for dying

Why? Nothing wrong with battles these days. It's realistic really. Look at Braveheart - did they all lock shields and trade blows? Hell's no. It was just chaos.

Yeah, but they all stayed on the battle field and didn't run off. I see where you're coming from though. But as I said, I was just throwing those coloured balls around.

Re: Penalty for dying

The running off is riddiculous, but thats only because most people neglect the 3 screens rule.

As for statloss, no im not a fan. 99% of people when they die put on resrobes, and RP being injured/dazed. The problem is the stealthers that sneak to their corpse, loot and leave without any fruther interaction above the PvP.

If we were allowed to loot in combat, we could take their stuff and force some RP out of the RP-griefers. No names mentioned *cough* MERC *cough*.

I'm in favour of RP PvP looting, because no one obeys the yellow bag rule. maybe armour & uniform should be left, but pots, regs, petals, and maybe a weapon, that should be lootable.

ahem... moderator stepping in...

Please keep it civil towards each other guys.

I am now receiving reported posts from this thread.

While I don't mind open debate about the subject, I do mind people getting upset over trolling.

Cheerio, and I'll keep an eye out on this thread.
