Errr mining?

Ok so I spent an hour or so mining today in fell in basically the same area outside my house, highest ore I got was bronze or copper. This is the first time I have mined since the ore/wood changes. So my question is this. How do I get valorite and the other high end ores now? Does it randomly spawn in different ore veins or does it depend on my mining skill {Gm} if I get Val or what? Help!

I just lumber, but the system should be the same:
It´s all random, and the rarer ressources are really rare now.

Stops the lame script miners who set their game running while they go out irl and come back to 400 val ingots though so it's kinda good.

Its a bugger for mining valorite and stuff to produce armour for the new players coming into UO through Haven which is a pity.

Plus scripters will still do as they did before as everyone still needs the rarer ores. This might actually encourage it as now you cant go mining to get a little bit of valorite as you need it. As you said Henry you were at it for hours and didnt get any..... So people might take up scripting as a way to actually gain the rarer metals to avoid days and days of mining just to find a small bit of valorite.
