The Calendar Option

Heya all

May i remind everybody that this forum has a Calendar on which people can write down their rp (or non rp) events for Europa or have done so already?

I know that with two regular open nights at the Trinsic Rose i cannot expect to own those days or something, but isn't spreading events instead of dropping them all on days that already have something happening much more entertaining ?

Yes, good point. I've never even seen it, but makes sense

When we decided to re-open The King's Deer Tavern, we spent a lot of time looking at which day was best to do so. As a guild we have a lot of regular run events on certain days and the only days that were clear for us to run the Tavern Night were Mondays and Fridays (we considered changing our regular Thursday event but the Tavern run by Leto takes place then and the clientele that attend there are more likely to be the same clientele at our Tavern evenings).

We decided upon Mondays as it was one of our busier days and the type of Charactors/players that attend aren't the same that would go to (and be welcome at) the Rose.

Re: The Calendar Option

I did at one point attempt to create an in game tavern guide, providing just a small amount of information concerning opening days and times of some of the more frequented establishments.
Unfortunately, when I switched to KR, it became rather difficult to maintain and now that I am safely re-ensconced in wonderful 2D, it seems that I have quite a lot of work to do to produce a new issue.
Also, feedback was rather thin on the ground so I may pack up my quill until such a time as I can dedicate more of energies to the exercise and I think that there might be further interest.

Re: The Calendar Option

Not to sound mean or anything, but I think most people already know that the Rose has open nights on fridays. Those people that do go and RP a nice quiet evening in the Rose will always be there. As for myself and quite a few others that I know don't go and have a drink in the Rose, as well... we aren't really welcome So for us that don't go there wouldn't really mind another event on that night. It's not like you'll be losing your regular customers anyway. I would imagine that the Rose mostly gets visitors from DOT, A^K, S&K, Srfs, etc etc, whereas you would probably get very few visitors from guilds like Grd, -V-, VTC, BoC, etc. So in my opinion, the "northern guilds" should feel free to host events even though there's an open night in some tavern that we aren't even really allowed in without eventually being kicked out.

Right, folks, before this goes too much further about certain issues, I am going to restrict this conversation to one thing:

~ Please use the calendar option to post your events so that all can know. ~

End of story please.

Re: The Calendar Option

I personally dont think enough use or read the Calendar, but then its not an obvious TAB wise on the forum.

I still think the Town Cryer is the best for advertising events, plus the old ICQ spamming the evening of the event to catch/remind everyone out there. That methods always worked for me best.

Perhaps an option would be to ask Adam to somehow change the Tab at the top of the page to something more obvious to the more casual viewer of the forums. I dont know if this is possible but have an extra Tab obviously called Calendar next to the words Town Cryer on the Europa forums which would take you to the Calendar section. That way when people look at the town Cryer for events they may also be reminded of the Calendar option for viewing regular recurring/non recurring events.

The more events the merrier though, and still many are not advertised enough out there. ( the Skara Tavern nights, the new Bucc's Den Bathnights, Spiritwood tavern nights...all could be stuck down on the Calendar as the regular events they are perhaps ).

Oh i do very much agree with that and i didn't mean it to critisize I was merely pointing out the option of the Calendar, cuz i think it is a handy tool for spreading the events as much as possible so people dont have to choose between events leaving one with only a few visitors and another with many visitors that maybe also would have loved going to the first one
