To all Roleplayers help please.
Hey again all! I'm just looking for your opinion or some ideas on a couple of things. Ok i've only just recently got into the whole roleplaying thing and i got to say im loving it, it has given me a whole new view point on Ultima online and its fantastic.
I joined -V- militia a few days ago and they have a fantastic community, i could'nt believe that i had not noticed them around before but i had to leave due to i would not be able to keep up with there training and did not want to let them down as such and plus i have created a completley new character for my roleplaying now. Anyway to my point i was wondering what all your guys thoughts would be on a new guild being created for all roleplayers that don't want to belong to a town such as skara, britain, vesper. A guild that is neutral to all, just like your everyday people who wander the streets. Obviously i want the guild warred by all incase someone from the guild was to wander in Vesper and comit a crime or if a thief wants to rob someone from the guild. The guild does not work together as they are not an alliance we would be just everyday people, if one person was to make an alliance with say -V- it does not mean the rest of the guild is in a alliance with them. The guild will contain all sorts of people from evil to good from poor to the rich. I was thinking of a name along the lines People of Sosaria[POS], im trying to figure out an idea to get the titles involved for individuals. Everyone who joins will have to have a description of thier character in thier journal. So any ideas on this guys? I wont go ahead with it without your permission as you guys have a fantastic roleplaying community and i do not want to harm it in anyway. Thanks all hope to hear from you. Oyst. |

Re: To all Roleplayers help please.
Hello Oyst, its Baron Mic here we met previously at the armoury!
While you idea is a good one, it is flawed mainly with the reason that it will again divide the communitys guilds Their are a few types of guilds for our community, we have the towns Ie Vesper/Trinsic and the guilds within the towns, and the nomads who go where they like and freelance, for instance, Outlaws. At the moment the player base isnt huge, but when KR arrives we may get a boost to this, so hold that thought! And work your characters and play with the community in the mean time.

Re: To all Roleplayers help please.
I'm not sure if it still exists but there was a CoRE stone for wanderers with no allegiences to be on.
Otherwise I think the community encourages random common folk to join the guild that is associated with the town they are from. So peasants from Vesper should join -V- and citizens of Trinsic join DOT. Essentially guild titles shouldn't be referred to IC, but for IG practicalities it helps to know where people are from if they are in a guild. Also it means that citizens from a certain town can be kept together with other citizens and RPers from that town, rather than all being lumped on one stone which will mean one person will essentially be responsible for the lot. |

Re: To all Roleplayers help please.
Will do mate, thanks for the input. It's just i really enjoyed my short time in -V- but dont think i had much of a chance moving up in the ranks as i would have hardly made any training sessions etc due to work and real life commitments. So i wanted to be in a guild where i can do what i like kind of thing.
Sorry people! |

Re: To all Roleplayers help please.
The problem with a "neutral" guild with no allegiances to anywhere is that there needs to be someone in the guild that's responsible of the guildmembers' actions. A guild with no ties will attract griefers/rulebreakers and sorting them out is a pain. For this reason, these kinds of guilds tend to end up being peaced by the RP guilds on a regular basis.
But I know where you're coming from. Maybe some brave soul would take it into his/her responsibility to found an "adventurers' guild" which exists for solo type characters. Whoever would want to tackle this, be prepared to face a lot of resistance and a lot of work. |

Re: To all Roleplayers help please.
Firstly - the CoRE stone is perfect for this.
Secondly - The Shadowcourt is neutral guild [as I am sure there are others too] but warred to most of the RP community Thirdly - The Shadowcourt is an "adventurers" guild which caters for exactly this type of thing Fourthly - The Shadowcourt has not attracted griefers etc etc Hope that helps keep things in perspective. Much much better idea for all the "common folk" to be in a guild like Srf [Serfs - Srf covers thew whole of Sosaria not just Trinsic btw] and if they like adventuring be in a guild like SCT [Shadow Court] and if you want to be allied to a town/warring guild - then join a town guild or one of the military type guilds. Knights can choose from a numebr of guilds - KH, KT , KoV So please - no more new guilds we have plenty at the moment! But please keep askign the questions! |

Re: To all Roleplayers help please.
Callum speaks wisely, as usual. I'm glad to hear that SCT hasn't attracted griefers (at least not yet). Still, you have to admit it's probably the griefers that made you to (wisely) stiffen your recruitment procedure ;)

Re: To all Roleplayers help please.
The CoRE stone is a bad place for it as it's a dead community, and the stone has all but been a place for horny drows and gits.
There have been a lot of guilds that has just been plain wanderers, adventurers, etc, a lot have folded or kept small in number base. They're good guilds and are still out there, although somewhat hard to find sometimes. And guilds that never move out of a territory are mostly considered to be a specific guild, such as Srf's would be seen as a Trinsic guild if they spend all their time there (Just using them as an example and isn't saying that they are.) |

Re: To all Roleplayers help please.
Thanks - I didnt want to come across as argumentative
![]() Historically the SCT has had maybe three pains in nearly 10 years and not one "serious" issue for maybe 5 years or more. Also historically the SCT hasnt ever "recruited" actively and still doesnt - prefering quality over quantity. ![]() |

Re: To all Roleplayers help please.
Even if i was to get into SCT a problem would still exist, say i if i was to wander into Vesper and i caused some trouble accidently or maybe on purpose  I would get the guild into trouble, thats what i dont want.
I think i will probably get into one of the current guilds on my new characters i would just be a lower rank forever mwaha! I must admit my first 2 days of RP were fantastic! I didnt know too much about the warring of all the towns on my first day and i had heard so much of Trinsic amoung the guild so i took a stroll. Before i knew it 7 Kaldonians were running at me i played the innocent guy and strolled past then they stopped and the leader(i think he was the only one with a cape) shouted "HALT!" then they threatened me to follow or die so i followed where then they made me send a message to my guild! It was fantastic! WooHoo! |

Re: To all Roleplayers help please.
Haha. It's always nice to see someone enjoy themselves in their first time! (It's usually the first time of role play that's fun)
I'm sure Vesper would allow you an alt that isn't a military personnel but a citizen or bandit or something like that in order for you to stay in the guild. |

Re: To all Roleplayers help please.
Oyst, you can't expect to be a high rank for a while if you're new in the community. Gaining higher ranks really just comes down to organising stuff. If you're seen to be doing stuff successfully and being around yuo'll make it up the IG rank systems sure enough.
Thats the best way to do it anyway as it means you'll learn how the community works and will gain a better insight into what ideas might work to progress the community. I was a typical new recruit in the community who instantly wanted to lead and I formed my own knights guild some 5-6 years back. It worked nicely for 6 months but then I couldn't keep it going due to absence. Looking back I should have just joined another knight guild and worked my way up. You gain more respect that way, gain a better IC story for your character which grows inside a well respected and long running guild (hopefully) and it supports those guilds that already exist. Thats my advice anyway ![]() |
