Welcome to the Shadow Court

Never let it be said that Muldran doesn't know the value of irony, but experimenting with Blackrock may very well have knocked seven shades of... spirit out of the collected works of the Shadow Court...

But if you want to know about the group of individuals, adventurers and explorers, have a look at the Shadow Court Website: http://www.shadowcourt.co.uk.

Shadow Court FAQs:
Last Updated: Wednesday 27th September, 2006

What is the Court, and what do they believe?
The Shadow Court (SCT) is comprised of individuals interested in knowledge, exploration and adventure. Think of a Gentleman's Club. But with Ladies. And a few Other Things as well. Not an army, not a sewing circle - we're determined to find answers to all the puzzles in the world... and find out what makes our land tick. We're on guard for the Greater Darkness - that which oppresses, and stifles - and determined to ensure the world can be enjoyed by all peoples.

Find more about the Court's beliefs in the Shadow Manifesto.

So you're not all soldiers, sailors and mages?
Not all of us - not quite. You can check the Shadow Court Guildstone for more information about who is presently a member of the Court. But we welcome all types of people and all types of professions.

Even the oldest profression?
Yes, stonemasons are welcome.

Where can you be found?
Well, we travel around quite a bit, so you might see a Shadow Courtier (SCT) here or there. Please, stop and talk to us. Even to Decardo. Honestly.

We also have some allied friends in the People of Rhovanion (PoR) guild - and that's a clue as to where the Court is located - deep in the mountains of Malas, in a snow swept valley called Rhovanion.

You're a roleplaying guild, right?
We like to keep a story going; as such our players make themselves part of a story, even on the forum. However, we've all got to start somewhere, and the Shadow Court is willing to help people understand what it means to role play, and to get into the spirit of the story. Of course, we also do hunts and sometimes, some of us even make it out alive. Without flamestriking each other. Lucy, are you reading this?

So that means rules I need to memorise?
Cheer up, it's not that bad. We do have a few rules that need to be observed. We're not a member of a community group, but we do interact with people who are, so although you can cloth yourself in fantastic gear (although within reason - Muldran doesn't want the Shadow Court to become the Blinding Neon Court) please always keep a set of GM items on you in case you're involved in PvP combat with Role Playing guilds. We also need to refer to their rules, so please be familiar with them. But...

But? You mean you're fighting other guilds all the time.
No. Absolutely not.

But you said...
Yes, I know, but the Shadow Court is not here for guild PvP. I can count on one hand the number of times we've had cause to attack other guilds. (Okay, one hand and the toes of my left foot.) Why? Read question one. The Shadow Court sits, observes, advetnures, and discovers. We're not into politics, we're here for people. And killing people is not something Muldran believes in.

The Shadow Court will always ask questions first - and will rarely shoot after. If you want a fighting guild, there's plenty out there. We're here for the monologues. And the relics. Don't forget the relics.

In summary - we're not here to fight, and people who joing the Court to engage in warfare will quickly find themselves seeking new employment.

Really?
Well... perhaps there's some things going on behind the scenes that Muldran assigns people to do - but you can read about assignments when it comes to that. Assignments are... well, read further down for those.

How do I join?

So, we haven't put you off? You want to join the story, have some fun, find out more about the world? Read the forum, chat to the people here - and more important, see us in the game.

PM Muldran, and he'll set up an interview - it's part fun, and part serious - to see if the guild is right for you. And then - enjoy!

(Any more questions for the FAQ? PM Muldran!)

Re: Welcome to the Shadow Court

Shadow Court Assignments

It's not all fun and games. There are things happening in the world that concern Muldran and his 'Lords Cardinal' - those who guide the Shadow Court. Yes, we are a friendly bunch... But we're also observant of the Greater Darkness. And we're worried that it will creep into people's lives, turning the wonderous into the mundane, the joyful in the upset, and the chocolate into rice pudding. Ergh.

Assignments are tasks that can run for up to a month that Muldran will assign to members of the Shadow Court. The Courtiers can view the 'Inner Court' forum to find out about these tasks, and their parts in them. There are things that Muldran wants done - and things that he wants kept in the dark. Did I just say that? No, of course Muldran wants to make sure that everything is... good.

Not to say that the assignment is all the character can do - goodness no, that'd be boring. And boring is a sympton of the Greater Darkness. See where I'm going with this? People assigned to tasks should do a bit to find out what is going on - and note it down, then deliver that information to Muldran and the Lords Cardinal.

There are also public assignment threads, where general information can be posted, so people outside the Court can see what we do. Of course, there might be one or two things that Muldran will ask to be hidden - but it's all in your best interests, of course!

Please fell free to read assignment threads - but don't post on them if you're not one of the assigned people; start a thread discussing the assignment, or Mul will prune the responses... And who knows, if you want to get involved you may become affiliated with the task! Or will it give you a taste to join the Court? Splendid!
