It'd had only been a few hours since he returned from the quest with Tim - and no sooner started another quest to help both Tim and him learn Spellweaving. He looked to the stack of books that Cherry had left to be sorted out, and Muldran leant towards them. Suddenly, he winced, and looked straight ahead. That was odd. Putting his hand out again, he flinched once more and heard a voice saying, "...eight of them... shards... must not be... kept safe..." He looked up sharply. Of course! Eric and Gina! He remembered the meeting in the Court's meeting room; discussing the strange and distant place that the group had come from; the mysterious silver-grey gate. With Muldran giving up the rule of the Shadow Court, and concentrating on his son, he'd forgotten some simple things, such as why the Court had been set up to... And then he paused. Gorthyn had been gone for some time. He'd started to set things in motion to catalogue magic and keep things safer, but... Muldran chewed his lip. He couldn't stage a coup within the Court, things were fragile enough, but... Sitting down at his desk he summoned up four pens, and began to write four separate letters. Uttering a silent thanks to his gymnastics instructor Meredith (who taught him the correct poise for holding one pen per foot, and making the writing legible) Muldran quickly scribbled out the same note four times. Quote:
He shook his head. He couldn't afford to care what people thought about these actions. He knew what was right when it came to the misuse of magic. The Court had, more than anybody, experience in magical experiments gone wrong. They were the ones best placed to fix this. Casting the notes out into the sky, and watching them fly away, he turned to the shelves, and plucked several tomes on divination, triangulation and cookery from the the shelves, before going to the central rooms to study. | |
