About Gwen
(Hello and welcome to Gwen's diary section. Everybody knows the drill with diaries, but when you are new to that: please take all info as ooc info unless you have been there and know of certain things IC.)
Feb 72, 359/Oct 4, 2006 Quel Re My name is Gwen Irima Maranwe and I am a High Elf born in Heartwood, but not of Heartwood heritage. When Mondain the Wizard hunted the elves, all of us were scattered over Sosaria and forced to seek asylum with others of our kind. My parents, Arafinwe Telrunya and Linwe Oronra, ended up with the Heartwood Elves and went into hiding with them. Me and my older brother Amras Ancalime were born in Heartwood, lived in the high trees for most of our lives until not so long ago it was decided the elves should come out of their hiding. My family went to search for other High Elves and thus ended up hearing about another Elvish place called Eska’eldalie where elves lived that had never went into hiding. My brother who is married by now has returned to Heartwood to live there with his family and me and My parents remained in Eska’eldalie where my Father has joined the Guards to aid in protecting the town and where my mother now makes potions of the Demadui plant that grows in the surrounding forest Silmataurea. The keeper of Eska’eldalie has foreseen certain problems that would occur in the Elven Quarter and thus trained me to be able to replace the lady VanQa of the Elven Guild for as long as is needed. And here I am now… Gwen Irima

Re: About Gwen
Mar 10, 359/Oct 5, 2006
Yesterday was a particularly long day. I had gotten up early to see the elves leave for Eska’eldalie to take VanQa there and once they were gone I couldn’t find rest anymore. It’s the first time I am parted from my parents with a distance like this. I’ve also come to like Durinka and her sisters very much. I guess… I guess it is normal to feel a little bit lonely once you’ve set the first steps on the path that you walk when being grown up and on your own. The elves are all still a bit stunned by all the happenings and with them many of the people that regularly visit the Elven Quarter as well. It will take time to earn people’s respect and friendship although there are some that have reached out and showed great kindness. The nicest surprise was a letter I found in the mailbox that was addressed to me, from Countesss Gwyn Quaintly in which she welcomed me to Trinsic. Later on the day when I finally nearly did find some rest, Draxandru Rose came to wake me rather noisy and excited. She begged me to go aid the Duke of Trinsic in finding his friend, a man that she knew as well as he performed the Wedding Ceremony of Rose and her husband. There was no way to calm her down other then promising I would do what I can to help, I just wonder if the price was not a little bit high. I will continue aiding the Duke (who is a very friendly and polite man, just as people said he would be) for after the matters that I have read and heard about I think it is more then interesting to see this through. Re: About Gwen
Mar 22, 359/ Oct 6, 2006
I have visited Cove during their Relaxation Evening and took the time to look around the town for a while. Within the walls the town is not as big as Trinsic or Vesper, but the lands outside the walls is huge and covered with a blanket of grass and trees. My kind if place if you ask me, although there is nothing more beautifull then the Elven Quarter I believe. For the Relaxation evening there were scented baths placed on the main square of town and there were some shops. I have bought some Rose oil and Rose soap to be send to Lady VanQa, I heard someone say she liked rosey things (yet this is also pretty obvious seeing all the Roses in and around the tavern). At the tavern things should hopefully settle down soon. I try to be as good a host as I can be so hopefully the Guests will get used to my presence in a while. Many people drop by shortly just to ask how VanQa is (have to remember to tell VanQa when she is better that a drow woman named Vierna wants to see her) but there is also a few that keep coming back all days like the Archers. Talking of Archers: I entered an archery contest yesterday. My performance wasn’t really that great, so I didn’t win anything, but I did enjoy myself. It gave me a chance to meet some more people and to afterwards speak with Kaelyn of the Duchy Guards about Miguen’s expired lease on the Provisioners. I will be leasing the Provisioner for now as the Trinsic Rose often relays orders through there. Gwen Irima |

Re: About Gwen
Mar 34, 359/Oct 7,2006
The day started somewhat awkward with a man who was so unwilling to show his face that he started to attack Elion and Me. Together we took him down and escorted him to the rim of the Quarter. Since all that has happened I will refuse to serve or have people in the Quarter that behave suspiciously. The rest of the evening passed by quite uneventfull. I wondered if the absence of VanQa has caused customers to stay away from the Rose, but according to Jern and Elion this is not the case. Apperantly it has always been quiet some days, busy on others and perhaps Jern is right, an event may do the tavern good. Since it was so quiet at the Rose I decided to go along with the Duke and his escort to the Deamon Temple. Getting on our way took a while, so when i spotted the unwilling robed man I closed all the doors of the Tavern so he would not be able to enter while I was gone. Unfortunately while I was briefly talking to the Duchy Guards about how to deal with unwanted characters in the Elven Quarter, Elion was attacked by an orc so he was not able to attend going to the Deamon Temple with me. Why do orcs all of a sudden out of the blue come here and seek a fight with the Elves? Gwen Irima |

Re: About Gwen
Mar 58, 359/ Oct 9,2006
Elion was right to be cautious and against me donating blood to the chauldron of the witch some days ago. And I was right to wonder if the price was too high, for it was. My soul is mine and I should not risk ever again losing it. Last night I was again part of the party of the Duke of Trinsic that is looking for the Missing Chancellor of Spiritwood. We had some days before recovered the book of Truth and Revelations that this Chancellor was looking for and this night we went to look for the items needed that would reveal the words in the book. To the passage of the Lost Lands we went to gather feathers from the Phoenix, to the Dungeon shame we went to collect three vials of the blood of the Blood Elementals that live there and to the Temple of Deamons we returned where the Duke performed a ritual that the Crone of the Ice Island had described to us. The last ingredient required me again to donate some of my blood while around us the Knights Templar, the Dukes guards, elf Kindret and others were fighting the Deamons that desperately tried to stop us from performing the Ritual. With the words revealed it was still unclear what to do. We didn’t find the missing Chancellor and didn’t know what to do with the book, so we returned to the Island of Ice to ask the Crone for more aid. The Duke asked her many questions, but while he did her glance often moved to myself. I couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable as she stared at me and should have ran away when I felt alarmed… Yes I should have. She was rather abruptly done speaking with the Duke, stepped towards me and blew a powder in my face. I recall darkness, I recall being in a small area. I was alone there. I can’t stop thinking about Goobers words now ( a man of the Duchy whom I spoke to before the expedition started): one has to know one self. I learned something about myself, something my parents and me thought about, but never had it confirmed, and I hope that those with me when my soul was released back into my body did not realize or learn about this… this fear that I have. Gratefull I am that these people did not walk away when my soul was stolen from me and I will continue to aid the Duke in his search for his friend, but I will be more carefull… Gwen Irima |

I think for many people, that walk by the Tavern, it seems that the place is very quiet. But they do not see all the people that I see, popping by for a quick drink, for some chit chat, or just to sit with their friends (or loved one). The Trinsic Rose Tavern for that matter sure keeps me very busy even though from the outside this is not so visable. Cards and flowers are left at the Mailbox occasionally for VanQa and many still come in to ask if there is news about her. Today I will travel to Eska’eldalie to see how things are and to report to Durinka on matters in and around the Elven Quarter. I am glad she wants me to come by on a regular basis, because that means I get to see my parents often as well. Gwen Irima |

Re: About Gwen
Apr 21, 359/Oct 12, 2006
What a day! Much to do in too little time. First of all my trip to Eska’eldalie went well. Got there safely and got to my new home safely again as well. In Eska I spoke with my parents who told me my brother’s wife was with child and I spoke with Durinka who wanted to hear about the status in the Elven Quarter and who spoke to me on how VanQa was doing. She still sleeps and as Callum the night before had suggested, the Healers discovered that the sleep and the symbols carved in her skin are related. (Note to self: ask for a drawing of the symbols to give to Baroness Moiraine of Trinsic) When I returned from visiting Eska I was met by Draxandru Rose who, after hearing about her sister, told me that Elion was having a training at the Moongate. Elion has been and is being a great friend and help to me, so of course I went quickly to join him. (I met with a new elf he had recruited as well, a lovely lady elf by the name of Cadala) After training I tried finding Kealyn, but Trinsic was quiet. I heard there was a meeting held somewhere, so I guess most of the duchy guards and citizens attended that. I waited around for a while, spoke with that funny Kaldorian and thanked Taggart for guarding my honor while my soul was stolen from me, and then returned to the Trinsic Rose. There I spoke some more with Taggart but also listened to Baroness Moiraine and Justice Reann who asked me all sorts of questions in regards to Iglata and his history with VanQa and her Family. It is a good thing that Durinka has instructed me so well, the heavily damaged family should not be bothered with this sort of questions. My voice speaks for all of them and I hope it speaks clear enough. As we were talking the Tavern filled with people. I saw Britannians, Vesperians, Kaldorians, and others. There were even some bartenders that I never saw before doing Belana’s and my work for us. Since they did not seem to bother the guests too much I decided to let them and even pay them for their effort. Before leaving, Mordred of Kaldor arranged for me a hunt later this day with someone of whom he did not want to say the name. Even though I trust him and that I am looking forward to do some exploring, I am glad that Devante of the Marksmen is going to be at the same location at the same time. At least there will be a familiar face present in case I run into troubles. In the end I didn’t even get to talk with Kaelyn about leasing the Provisioner… Gwen Irima |

Re: About Gwen
Apr 33, 359/ Oct 13, 2006
I took the guild to the solen hive to gather fungi and I am sure Elion had a really wonderfull time. Perhaps it is a very good idea to either leave him home next time or to force him to wrestle the solen. I have heard the stories about him turning into a beserker when released in a dungeon or other sort of monster area, but up till last night I hadn’t taken them very serious. Not sure what I should do about that… After the Guildhunt I went to the destination that Mordred told me to go to at the agreed time where I waited for a man with a jesterhat who would show me the dragons inside Destard. After a while Captain Devante appeared and after he had greeted me he put on a jesterhat. I think that was the most funniest sight I had seen and of course couldn’t help laughing at him although that didn’t seem to bother him too much. Of course we realize that Mordred set us both up and I am sure that either of us will soon think of something to return the favor. Since we were there anyway Devante showed me the dragons, but when we were surrounded by 4 of them we decided to leave the beasts since it was very clear our presence was not appreciated. The Captain then took me to see the Command building in North Paws and treated me with dinner in a grand castle where I got a bit tipsy from the wine. Being too dizzy to continue to do other things I apologized to the captain and let him take me home to the Elven Quarter. I think there was something he wanted to say to me in private, but when that funny kaldorian started to talk about kissing again I just wanted to get away from them all. Gwen Irima |

Re: About Gwen
Apr 69, 359/Oct 16, 2006
The Friday the Thirteenth Events were well received by those who were there, but I worry that many people didn’t come because I am not Her (even though Jern says that is nonsense). It was a long evening still and I used the days after to relax a bit and do some more exploration here and there. I have noticed that I am drawn back here most of the time and not just because of my responsibilities… May 8, 359/Oct 17, 2006 I have made myself a little corner upstairs in the Kitchen of the Trinsic Rose and with that space of my own I feel more at home. My shift went well, people coming and going all the time. There was for example a human child who was really being foul and inpolite. She ended up having her mouth washed with soap by Cal of the Kaldorians. She deserved it so I didn’t interfere when they did that at the waterbasin downstairs. The strangest visitor however was the ghostly appearance of someone named Gildram Lochlor. It took a while before we found out who he was, because amongst the elves we don’t have one that can speak with ghosts as far as I know and we had to use short boo’s and long boo’s for yes and no answers. He was looking for elves. I don’t know him, but he does know Elion so he is someone that used to visit the Rose before I came. He’s a friend of VanQa and knows about Eska’eldalie. He can even visit Eska’eldalie, which led me to a list of names of Elven Friends that VanQa was keeping (note: there are people on this list whom I don’t know but whoms names are crossed off with beside written in small letters: If these are ever seen in Eska, they should be shot. Interesting. Must find out who can summon so much hatred in someone). After asking him if he was this person or that person we found out his name is Gildram Lochlor and he is looking for Yumiko Nichirin (as are we!). I told him the last we heard of Yumiko is that she in fact was looking for him. I’ll be visiting the Knights of Virtue of Tel’mar soon to get some more information from the people who live there. After my tavernshift I tried to locate the Baroness and the Justice of Trinsic to bring them the drawings that were made of the symbols carved on VanQa, but I didn’t see anyone there whom’s face I recognized so I left a message for them at the Jail and returned to the Rose. He came there again, making my heart jump with joy even though Elion says he is of the sort of men that looks under every woman’s skirt. With all the guests gone (and after some teasing him), I decided to go with him, Charlotte and Felix to do some practice in a place called Despise. Afterwards we returned to their Head Quarter and even though the Captain offered me to stay over, I thought it was a better idea to go home to my own bed (something I regretted as it can be noisy in the Rose). May 44, 359/Oct 20, 2006 While Rose was busy downstairs doing the Repair Hour together with some other people, I have been trying to perform the human ritual of cutting a face in a pumpkin, something they do around the time of Halloween and to use as decoration. I got some result, but am not too pleased with it yet. I am definitely glad I decided to take up on the Captain’s offer to spend some time in his Hot Tub as I think I even had innerpumpkin in my hair ! Yesterday I joined in a long training session with Elion and mostly Kaldorians. Real training is so much different then what my brother Amras and I did when we challenged eachother. I know now that he let me win as we dueled and I also understand better what Rana meant when she said that when it comes to combat I had to learn a lot still. Looking forward to the next training already! May 58, 349/Oct 21, 2006 The tavernshift went by well visited. A new elf visited and joined with the guild, her name is Samira. I heard some rumors that Iglata was questioned, will try and find out more about his trial when I return from Eska. Gwen Irima

Re: About Gwen
June 19, 359/ 23 Oct, 2006
During the weekend I have visited Durinka again to bring her the latest news of the Quarter and of the drow. I also had a guest with me who was granted permission to travel with me into the Silmataurea, namely Jern Fretting. (It felt to me like a really great honor to lead someone into Eska'eldalie) As he is a good friend of both Miguen and VanQa I had requested Durinka if he could come and see her. Hopefully the visit will bring some smile on his face as lately I find him sad, unhappy. Oh what am I going to tell Durinka, how will I say it to Miguen? After last night's tavernshift I went to Trinsic to see if the Baroness was about, to hear about what will happen to Iglata. He will receive some lashes and will then be returned his freedom. I was completely stunned when I was told that. We all know that he killed. And we all know that as soon as soon as he leaves Trinsic, he will return to stalking VanQa which will end with her death (unless someone gets to him first, but then this person would be committing a crime and may end up facing trial him/herself). How am I going to tell Durinka that I find that her and VanQa’s faith in these Trinsician humans is rather misplaced? No, I am not supposed to doubt these people. I am merely here to do what I am told to do. If by law this is the choice of Justice in Trinsic, then I will honor it no matter my own personal feelings in regards to this all. I shall have to order Draxandru Rose to go to Eska’eldalie, she’ll not be safe here in Trammel. The baroness gave me the translation of what is written on VanQa: Live with You You will sleep Death is Forever You will awake Justice will choose I love you Child of the moon I wonder what it means. Because even though it is proven that hurting Iglata does not hurt VanQa, it means something… Gwen Irima. |

Re: About Gwen
Jun 31, 359/ 25 oct, 2006
A market was held in Trinsic and even though the news of recently i decided to sell all the cookies and pies that i baked in frustration. I hope I have informed all the people that need to be informed. June 43, 359/Oct 26, 2006 I have calmed down a lot, processed the news of his coming release. The last words have not been spoken about this matter. I am under strict orders now and I will obey these orders even though the heart sings another song. Elves live long and I will not forget. As a result the Repair Hour Team missed two of its regular members, Jern Fretting and Draxandru Rose, and the subject was the topic of the hour amongst those who visited the repair hour. I sense a lot of anger and disappointment, but no matter what we all feel and think and know… the Baroness is right. There is enough proof of the torture he performed, but no proof at all of the kills he did. Gorn of the Army of Kaldor surprised me greatly by asking me to join the Kaldorian forces in their fight for glory against the Loyalists. After the Training session of last week, I am greatly honored that we are deemed worthy enough to fight at their side. I rejected his offer however and told him if we some day have a common goal, a common enemy, that I would gladly be at his side. We elves are already free, so we do not need to fight Loyalists to gain something we already have. Nor do we follow the absent King or any of his court as they are not our nobles. Aegnor of Silverleaf pointed out one common enemy just after Gorn had left: the Militia of Yew. He is right about that, but in my opinion the reason why we all fight must be one as well. Silverleaf and the Elven Quarter would have an equal goal if we were to battle the Militia: The protection of our people. Not to mention: going to war against the Militia may damage my relationship with the Captain (whom I treated for cream in a place that I heard about somewhere far from here.) Last but not least to mention is the accidental meeting I had with Athos of the Knights of Virtue. I told him about the ghost of Gildram Lochlor and about the Hope that Dhar-zug still had to save him. Perhaps we will finally find out where Yumiko has gone off too and do something for this poor man who is trapped in a place that even my worst nightmares can’t imagine. Gwen Irima |
