I believe the candidates running for Baron owe it to the folk of this great Town to at least publically disclose their standpoints and spotlights of their campaign. Below this notice you'll find Olk's, Kain's, and Elliot's, which I hope they'll fill in, as well as a few blanks for any surprise runners. I urge you folks to be quick in filling this in, as each hour is one less you have to convince the minds of the people that really matter.

Name: The illustrious Samsca of Olk, First Governor of Vespenland, Mayor of West Vesper, Favoured son of our most valiant Republic, Destroyer of those who consider themselves our foes, Manager of the Vesperian Company for acquisition of Ore, Once Sergeant within the Militia, Once Captain within the Militia, Once Baron and Governor of Cove and so forth and so forth and so forth.

Domestic Policy:
I intend to continue a policy aiming towards that of civil harmony within our fair Republic. I propose a re-application of provincial titles, largely within the purview of the Baronial position. While the titles of Mayor of Main Vesper and Mayor of West Vesper shall remain there shall also be Governorships of Vespenland, Vespenia, Vesparicia and Windemere. We shall have maps drawn up to ensure that all within and without the Republic properly know these regions and what is entailed within these boundaries. I am of the mind that one of these Governorships should be bound to the person or persons who lead the Militia however such shall be subject to debate with our most honourable friend presently in that position at a later date. I suspect one shall go to the Hospitaller and the Dragoni should they be willing to take up the mantle. A council of these renowned folk may be conjured if there is sufficient interest on their behalf to ensure that Baronial choices are not in anyway autocratic.

While our laws shall be strict they shall focus primarily upon those who are foreigners within our sacred and liberated land. Torture upon those who are Vesperian citizens shall be outlawed however it is an unfortunate necessity in these harsh times to deal with our foes whose treachery knows no bounds. Treachery against the state of the Republic along with other harsh crimes such as murder shall be punishable by death as is presently the case. While it is clearly vital that the Militia is respected amongst the common citizenry it is also vital that any abuse of their position is dealt with.

In regards to the economy I propose that the Vesperian nation ensures a subsidy towards the Swaggers inn for the purposes of lowering the price of Ale to five or six coins a bottle. This shall ensure that the poorest can acquire the ale that is every Vesperian’s birthright. Other schemes shall be put forward to ensure the poorest are able to prosper either in the Militia or in performing other vital services for our Nation’s survival. We shall seek to ensure that the richest do not profit over much for their work to the negative effect upon the greater mass of the population. On the other hand it is right and proper that those who carry the most responsibilities receive the greatest reward.

Foreign Policy.
I intend to continue our rightful and just wars in the pursuit of freedom for our brethren however foreign they may be. Our fellow common folk in the south cry out for liberty from the yoke of their inbred overlords and their Drowish henchmen. With this in mind any allies who are of a suitably honourable disposition shall receive succour from our plentiful nation and the encouragement of seeing our hosts aid them upon the field of battle. I say honourable because I do not believe it befits the glory of our fair republic to aid any group of feral thugs who claim to oppose the Loyalists. We are a civilised and free nation and not the hateful bunch of barbarians that those outside the Republic seek to paint us. I propose that Trinsic must either embrace the Revolution or we shall enforce one by the sword for their insults against us are many and we can stand them no longer.

I have spoke for now about the south so let us turn to the north. While our great and noble victory liberated West Vesper the untamed dogs of Klion still lurk out there to the west. I propose we strengthen our alliance with Cove to finally break the back of the Yewish horde. I glance at a map and see that those famous traitors to our Nation, the Knights Templar lurk menacingly upon their borders. If these vermin seek to aid the Yewish I propose they be eliminated and their lands should be handed as a gift to our Covian friends. With the north passes properly taken any Yewish incursion should be impossible and for a time we can contend with freeing the South.

I intend of course to provide succour for those in need, such as our free Brethren in Haven after that tragic catastrophe so affected that state.

Military Regards.
While I intend to see that the right things occur within the Militia and certain folk receive certain rights and duties that are their due but I shall primarily leave this within the hands of the leader of the Vesperian Militia who shall of course be in the purview of the Baron but shall ultimately have the responsibility for running that fine instrument of our Nation’s will. I might see fit to instigate an “executor” rank (of which the title is yet to be determined) to ensure that the Baron receives first rate information on the goings on within the Militia and that certain vital tasks outside the activity of the Militia mainstream occur but that shall require conversation with whichever good friend is granted the lofty responsibility of being Captain.

I shall of course ensure that all Vesper’s resources are put forward in ensuring our security and as such the expansion of our Militia to keep our borders safe and increase the sphere that the world knows to be free shall continue.

Vesper remains a bastion of light in an otherwise dark world. We must see that this light of liberty is kept. We must seek that Vesper becomes perfection upon Sosaria. We must see that this freedom is granted too all who would take off the loyalist chains of oppression wherever they may be. While the number of our foes remains many we have right on our side and given time enough we shall prevail.

Proposed Domestic policy:

My aim as Baron will be to simplify the ruling of Vesper. Currently the town is split into two. I see no reason for West Vesper (Formerly known as Minoc) to be ruled separately, as doing so can only spread disunity among our people. If Vesper is to hold strong against outside influence from the south and the west, we must stand together, not apart.
I will implement a stronger legal system within the town, as currently criminals are treated with unforgivable leniency. If I am elected, I shall make sure that criminal activity is met with a fitting retribution, as opposed to the blind eye of the current administration.
My rule will be marked by actions, not endless words or ineffective political posturing.

Proposed Foreign policy:

The tyrants of the southern cities have for too long been allowed to prosper under the reign of the apathetic Twothumb. Under my leadership the militia shall be ordered to free the innocent citizens of Trinsic from the yoke of drow and criminal oppression. The city will be returned to it's rightful status as a free city of Britannia, and an interim ruling council will be appointed with an experienced citizen of Vesper at it's head.
Once Trinsic has been freed, we will be able to gather a large enough army to finally silence the corrupt ruling D'Gar family of Yew, and so remove the threat from the West.

Military Regards:

The day to day running of the militia will remain in the capable hands of it's current leadership, however I will take the position of high commander. My experience with the various Knightly orders and the wars they have fought all over Sosaria put me in a unique position to direct the grand strategies of our forces throughout the land. The talent of the militia is unmatched in battle, but until now it has lacked a true direction. With me in charge, that shall never be a problem again.

I will carry on the policy of selfgoverment West and Main Vesper as it have been since I set up the system , and I will look into the possibility of having a council of Vesper once again with the current large groups of people living in Vesper.
I will also make sure that people pay their taxes on time by making one day every month "Tax paying day" so there be no escaping the taxes.
Taxes as we all know it is the lifeblood of Vesper and with the militia being so active and the foreign policy's being what they are, a strong income from taxes are a must to uphold the militia state of the art uniform and weapons.

Proposed Foreign policy:

I will support continue to support the Knight Council which is being chaired by Lady Tabbitha in hope that they will provide aid against the many criminal groups in the lands that are fighting Vesper in all ways they can think off.
What the militia does is ofcourse strictly in order with what Vesper was founded to do, Help people who wishes to live free.
I therefor hope that with the numbers and strenght the militia have now they can help more people across the lands and help all men live life the way the gods intended them to live it... Free.

Military Regards:

Continue with the very sucessfull building of outposts along the north Vesper road to strenghen the defences against attackers along that border.
Establish a series of outposts across the land to be used by the militia when they advance throughout the land and thereby lowering the items they need to bring with them on all campaign thus making them more effective.

Ive ruled Vesper for many years and I think my record speaks for itself.
Its under my rule that Vesper have become this strong town and ideal it is today and with my guiding hand it will keep the path.

What about the continual struggle we have with the Vesper Trading Company, will the new Baron sort this out?
