Hmmm I would debate that point.I certainly dont look for a fight in my roleplay, because my skills mean its a futile exercise for me ,and I inevitably end up grey.

This then brings further problems for me IC,as how do I just get up and carry on after ?

I usually have to take my characeter out of play for a day or two,to stay true to my roleplay mindset.

And Raul - the SWG ref I made was related to the fact that it is a sci-fi game and fps/3rd person shoot em up isnt as good for rp and the isometric look down view of UO

Arius "Just mindless slaughter of stupid critters, with the odd RP like "Oh heavens, seems they're gaining in strength! We must withdraw! Men and children first!!" - with respect there is SHED LOADS of other things you can do with an invasion. Healing stations, pre battle alliances, post battle analysis, battles within battles, sabotage, etc etc - its limited ONLY by your imagination. NO we arent going to get any new players but who cares - there are some FABULOUS players still here.

I logged on to UO last night on one of my rare blue alts who is currently in felucca magincia.

Happened to bump into two members of ELV and some DI3 and basically had 30-40 mins of pure class role play which they joined in with.

I had a f**king ball.

I was laughing at my keyboard and hopefully so were they.

They played along BRILLIANTLY and it was a beautiful little vignette.

And you know what? I almost missed it by wanting to post on a forum.

Thankfully I logged into UO instead.

The thing is... Invasions are old.. Trinsic got invaded when trammel came.. they boost some monsters with extra HP and mana - change their name and color.

I give koduz for this invasion tho that they actually got 3 new abilities on monsters.. BUT only 3.. ? pfft..

Then we had Vesper invasion.. now this invasion.. Its just not fun standing there healing or killing. They need some new ideas. Something totally new.

Yea the rinse and repeat isnt working as well I have to agree.

The Ophidian invasion was a great innovative idea and gave a mass of rp,ie ,how Grd had arranged it cos they wanted Vesper land [ muhahaha].

It was also nicely tied into the Inu plot.

Have you ever played this game matey? Its almost like WoW or EQ2 ui wise, never has it been a FPS! The Isometric look is very possible too if you pan the view right out! Also please Callum RP isnt all swords and damsens in distress you know, Sci-fi is just as valid for RPers! Perhaps you should go tell the 100's if not 1000's of SWG RPers on the unofficial SWG RP server Starstrider that they arent really there!

Yes I played it for a few weeks on its forst release and it was good. Just the time difference between me and the americans made it hard to hook up. I returned last year and was massivvely impressed with space combat getting up to level 9? [one before the top level?] I just couldnt find any other players in space ships. I played it extensively and it was the second best rp choice to UO. But the whole thign didnt feel quite right. I cant explain it really.

And of course you can rp in sci-fi - I did it myself in SWG playign a hardnosed female space privaterr/trader in a Han Solo/Queen !!!!! kind of mode. Again sadly no one else seemed to even understand role play. I love sci-fi role play Raul but for *me* it didnt translate very well in this instance at this moment in time?

But back on topic or slightly on topic and thinking abotu it more - perhaps it is time to up and move to another game en masse. tbh I wish that maybe it had been considered when WoW came out. More I think about it the more peeved I am that we/I didnt consider seriously lookign at the option.

Good idea in principal,only flaw from my pov,is I detest sci-fi.

If we did do a mass move I would only consider giving up UO for a very good mediavel/middle earth type mmorpg

And yes i do agree its time the community here started making bee lines too other newer games, or basically carry on and slowly dwindle away to nothing. It should have been done years ago, but sadly most of the GM's were too wrapped up in there little Empires too see what people like me were saying.

I'm looking forward to Darkfall and age of Conan. But mostly darkfall as i have heard you can basically "do anything", a similar idea to Ultima. It's not all "instances" and endless, mind numbing spawn bashing, or at least that's what they claim.
