Hanse sat down in the chair in his new office... having an office again was a curious affair... a humble stone and wood table, two chairs, and along the north wall an array of contraband goods sealed behind a thick-barred iron fence.

The Militia was preparing to assemble for Operation Glutton when it happened. As we gathered, Baron Samsca walked off with Liberator Darkmoore in tow for protection. Most thought nothing of it - perhaps it was at this point we could have prevented what was to come to pass. Perhaps we should be more vigilant in future with the Baron's security, Samsca is after all not used to being such a target for foreign assassins. Either way what happened, happened. Lord Samsca we now know was ambushed at the mint.

It didn't take too long for someone looking to squeeze a quick buck out of the Republic to swing past the Jailhouse. Amounts and locations were agreed on, but we never had any intention of paying them. A crate with scraps of paper was all they'd have gotten if we'd failed to rescue the Baron. Typical thugs, amateurs, peasants. Should have known better. They were lulled by only two of us coming to the meeting point.

I told Escaflowne to take the other Militia "away" - while really he was sitting them at a position he could portal to when me and him got to the Baron. Sure enough, as soon as he was in sight the thugs asked for their money, and Escaflowne gave them a dozen angry Militiamen down their throats while I concealed Baron Samsca.

All in all, a perfect operation in the Republic's name, with only a few cuts and bruises for the boys in bronze.
