Re: Battle of the Cities?

I don't think I've ever been this excited for an event before
This sounds really awesome, and if you need help Rand, I'll do whatever it is you need. Of course you know, the three Davions must be among the contingent of Vesper fighters. Also, I think 5 is the magic number. Nice round number.

Also, one suggestion. You should Define 'Champion' as somone with a code of honor. Ffs, disallow poisoning and Necro. It's just...yucky.

Re: Battle of the Cities?

*Slips in a small spoonful of negativity*

Excellent idea, sounds like a lot of fun. But! you'd need to find some way or other around the fact there are a few of the Cities aren't warred to each other.

Other than that, looks excellent to me! I also think Fel would be much more fun than Trammel for it - but meh.

Also, maybe make it have some sort of significance.. something they are fighting for perhaps (I don't just mean I prize for the Character) maybe something for the City they represent.

*Legs it back out of the thread before she gets killed*

Re: Battle of the Cities?

Alright, this is probably the longest thread I've seen about an event that's still in the makings And yes Hanse, I did think of the Orc problem, and the more I think about it, they really don't fit in with the whole "city versus city" theme. Sorry you green bastids Also Trinsic is another problem because of the vast amounts of guilds living there. So Genty from -RM- suggested that they themselves (I'll attend too probably) hold a qualifying round amongst themselves to see which guild enters in the name of Trinsic. DOT, RM, LB, etc etc.

Which brings us to PRIZES! This is what I'm stumped on seeing as this "grand" tourny would be kinda lame with only gold being the prize. Although the winning prize would be a mill should we use gold. If anyone has any suggestions to this please leave them here. I was contemplating something along the lines of some engraved tokuna dyed (rum red) armour bits for the winners. Something like "Champion" engraved, but have no idea how much engraving thingies cost, and I'm not the richest person around.

Once I get all the details sorted, I'll post an IC banner around all the boards and then this will probably go ahead next weekend. Oh, yeah, thanks my little snugglemuff Drax, I'll probably need some help later on with the small details..

So yeah, any suggestions to prizes anyone? Remember, has to be "split" between 5 people and I'm reluctant making it simple gold coins...and I'm posting this on the public forums so anyone can pitch in with thoughts and ideas.

Re: Battle of the Cities?

I like the idea about engraving an item, cause giving out 1 mill checks to everyone doesn't show off the guild/city that won. Engrave a snappy sash with "(Guildname) winners of the almighty city tournament and undesputed champion of the wooooooooooooooorld".

Or perhaps get the arti shield Ęgis and have it engraved. It's an arti and is shiny and white, yet it doesn't cost 1000000 mill, which the leader of the guild can show off with.

Re: Battle of the Cities?

Yeah Frelt, but an arti could only be worn by the one char, and he might not even be the one participating if it goes to the GM Aye, a sash or some such might work..will make it optional. Rum red toku dyed armour, or a sash.

*slaps Darkion*

It's allowed but...*slaps some more*

Only rules are that there are no rules. Every temp is accepted, normal Core rules still apply. Sorry Drax, but it really wouldn't be fair to other guilds if we banned necro and poisoning, as then they'd be up against a bushido user and 3-4 mages? Unbeatable...and impossible to xheal through if the attacks are coordinated. Only necros are not allowed to use any forms, like wraith, lich, etc. This way we also don't eliminate any would be hopeful champions. Surely you're not scaaared of necros and poisoners are you? Just use pots. Like Darkion..

Re: Battle of the Cities?

Having thought about this some more.

Quote:

where each city, namely Yew, Cove, Trinsic, Skara, Jhelom, Kaldor, Orcs and ofcourse Vesper (apologies if someone was left out) would select 4-5 champions from their guilds to participate in one grand tournament facing the other cities. These 4-5 people would fight as a team versus the other city teams.

..............

Also Trinsic is another problem because of the vast amounts of guilds living there. So Genty from -RM- suggested that they themselves (I'll attend too probably) hold a qualifying round amongst themselves to see which guild enters in the name of Trinsic. DOT, RM, LB,

Why not choose one person from each GUILD within the town, that way each gets a chance to take part.

Just my two paws worth ....tabby

Re: Battle of the Cities?

I did post an improvised IC post on the Duchy forums saying that they are allowed to mix up their city team from various guilds that RP there. I'm just trying to make this as simplistic as possible and am trying to keep it to IC armies duking it out instead of independants.

Kaldor is on the list as I used to have an A^K char and so they get a little preferential treatment And the fact that they aren't really affiliated with any of the major cities, but still one of the really old guilds with some good pvpers, and would be a shame to see them left out.

But yeah, seeing as this is my first event, I'm using the Keep it Simple Stupid approach and will allow guilds to figure out who they want their combatants to be instead of me trying to organize everything, especially with all the independant guilds. If the independant guild members want a spot, such as Serfs, E-V, then they should try and get a spot themselves in the city line up.
