A freeshard's quality, features, and server reliability are entirely down to it's creators and the facilities they have to hand. There have been a fair few brilliant RP-centric shards I've visited in the past. Alas they've all ceased to be, and a good 95% of those that remain are either PVP-based as you say or ruled over by tyrannical "GMs" and cliques of veterans and brown-nosers.

The Sanctuary: Shadow's Edge, and A Shattered Alliance come to mind as two of the best I've played in. Both long since deceased, though.

I second that.. Can make it a more believable RP world on Freeshards.. To get it good, it takes alot of work.
