![]() | Re: The Use of Chivalry my 2 cents would be to have your character despice other characters using chivalry if they can recognise it. however, I have never tried the skill so my cents aren't worth much though ![]() perhaps beside the point, but in WW's "vampire dark ages" you did have semi-holy vampires, some which believed in the holy x-tian god and was willing to crusade and die for Him. ![]() ![]() "..the first lesson: that we must be powerful, beautiful and without regret.." - Armand |

![]() | Re: The Use of Chivalry With the game mechanics, and if the player of the character can justify the reasons for his character to have Chivalry it will be allowed. However, I doubt that an abundance of Chiv characters are to be developed. If members do have issues with 'knights' that is fine to keep it in character. But to remember that those in the guild are motivated by gaining influence, knowledge, and power. I think I want Alynora to freeze this thread..... ![]() ![]() |

I just wanted to say this is an interesting discussion about Chivalry and its place in Tremere within UO. I didnt want to post here initially as i noticed its only the guild members which has been replying. But i did enjoying reading peoples views about the use of the Skill. Myself i think its all about the interpretation of the skill and should be allowed as long as its defined well by the player. For example Chivalry can be twisted and defined in so many different ways beyond what UO intended as the base skill concept. Thankyou for leaving the discussion public i have enjoyed reading it, and thanks to Jade for inviting me to reply here. |

![]() ![]() | Re: The Use of Chivalry Sorry to butt in...but Alynora, your first post was quality! Great read! If you don't mind my two-cents, Chivalry and Necromancy are the only two skills that really require a character alignment (good or evil). BUT There are so many oppurtunities to use both in the opposite character. A forum virtuous knight who has become a vampire and still holds on to his old learnings, but due to his vampiric nature finds his powers weakening (also applied by ingame features, cheers AoS) Up to you guys though...just dont bring your evil necromanic ways into Vesper ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() | Re: The Use of Chivalry Actually I don't mind. I'm glad to get some discussion on it. (and thx Ned & Decardo) We also have some interesting other views regarding necromancy as well, but that is a topic for another thread. To sum it up very quickly, many players think that a vampire needs the necromancy skill.... Alright... from a game mechanic view point, and to a degree of more historical basis, yes, these are probably good skills to have especially for a Tremere (mage) vampire. Game mechanics of course make it easier for people to recognize a vampire. But the skill is not considered absolutely necessary either, especially for those who are considered not young enough to sire anyone (the process being practically a form of necromancy). To display yourself for being a vampire, is often contrary to those who would hunt on the sly so to speak (not for those who just go into a frenzy or have other IC reasons why not to care about that) However, by the same token... why do you think a vampire would need or want to learn necromancy?? Not necessarily because they are "evil" etc... but consider the basic concept of what a necromancer does, and what a vampire is.... and I'll leave it at that for awhile... And consider how each group could view each other...and yes, this concept is worked into Tremere guidelines... ![]() ![]() "You know…there’s an element of truth to every child’s tale and legend… and it’s usually worse than we ever want to remember.” House of Tremere: www.xs4all.nl/~garod1 Last edited by Alynora; 15th July 2007 at 11:34 AM.. |
