![]() | (repost) - Beliefs... - They're coming! They're coming! The guard entered the room shouting. He had news from a rider who had just arrived from the west. - The juka are raiding Yew! Sergeant Frederick Vaughan opens his eyes wide in disbelief. Just two days ago he as left Katharina and young Gallagher at home and he already regrets leaving for another commission in the Royal Guards. - Send the rider to Britain requesting relief urgently. We have to march on Yew as soon as possible. He then turned and, swiftly, climbed the stairs, to reach his commander. - Sir! The Juka are attacking Yew. We should march. - Hmmm... We must stay here and delay their advance, in case they make a move on Britain. Little Gallagher was upset with his father absence. While feeding the pigs, his head was turned by a hissing sound followed by several knocks. He turned again, when the boar screamed, only to watch it bleed to death, impaled by an arrow. He ran, crying for his mother, miraculously evading the arrows that were falling around him. Upon reaching the house entrance, a strange silence settled. He watched the puddle of blood beneath his feet growing bigger, feeded by the lifeless body of his mother. His legs failed, and he dropped to his knees, speechless... Suddenly a creature appears, fearless looking cold eyes set upon the little boy, who looks up, frozen. With a cry the coldblooded warrior deliver it's strike, but the only thing that reaches the child is a severed head. The fall of the body reveals a tall knight in white and blue who quickly grabs the little one and takes him outside. - Go! Now! - sayed a deep voice, altered by the plate helmet, while shoving Gallagher to the woods. He ran and ran, away from the crys, away from the trampling, until he stumbled into a pool of light... He could not believe... Everyone gone... Katharina... Gallagher... Her body lies now burried, but no sign of the boy's. Many corpses could not be identified, burnt to the bone. Was he among them? The knights had aided a few escape. Frederick ran through the orphanages, seeking, but to no avail... He was devastated, trying to understand why didn't he got there sooner. Eventually he came to accept the fact that it was out of his reach. He later remarried... Trying to get up from the dirt, little Gallagher noticed the circle of stones. Where was he? His mind was blank. Walking trough the woods he tries to recognize the places but nothing seems familiar. At a distance he notices the sound of the sea. It sounds vaguely appealing. A fisherman finds him and welcomes him into his house. He and his wife were never blessed with children and, as no soul has knowledge of who this boy might be and where from, they raise him as their son. But what name should they give him? Orlando... |
