Marble Island Facilities

Right, since folks seem up to using Marble Island now, I'd like to get some general input about the facilities and what is missing or what can be changed. Also, do you like the general style (keeping in mind it was originally done this way for the Vesper/Trinsic war)? Or should we do something a little different for something more vampiric?

It was rather obvious on Wednesday meeting that having the full group of us in the meeting hall was slightly cramped. Admittedly however, it's a bit of a rare occurence for us to get that many together in one place and time.... which is more what I had thought about when I first made the hall.


At the moment on Marble Island are the following buildings:

1) Fortress - holding military barracks (& kitchen), prison, small armory, small courtyard, offices, small treasury, provisions area, front lounge and a small council meeting room. Has also a nice front yard area which can be used for small markets and training area etc.

-However, Tremere is not exactly a warriors guild... but... or perhaps make this more into a town hall? Do we need a fortress? It was created originally for use during the war, but now peace talks are commencing...

2) The Tavern area - also rather small tavern area, hotel beds upstairs, a blacksmithy area, a storage/fisher/flour mill area, a farm/garden area, what was to be a carpenters hall (somewhat unfinished) and some Tremere back rooms...(which probably shoud be moved towards the fortress area?)

3) Two "Shops" - each with a housing area below (unfinished), basically a general provisions, a sculpter area, a tailor and tinker area

4) Mage Hall & Library: Basically as said, small council room inside, upstairs has private section and office plus casting area on the roof.

5) Hospital and Pharmacy: Alchemist area... emergency operating room, small shrine (for nervous waiting folks), doctor's office, hospital rooms, and upstairs a small private home for the pharmacist to live in...



Any suggestions or changes?? I'm primarily looking at the whether or not the fortress stays as it is or gets changed. Which could mean also the tavern area could be expanded then (once the back rooms are moved...) to have a games area and potentially a brothel area as was suggested on Wednesday...

Another idea was to have a small apartment complex instead so that various familiy members could "live there" (knowing most of you already have houses).

I never bothered much with making a church or cemetary because there is already the NPC/UO temple on the island...

the buildings are great....and I think that the houses are fine to keep up appearances.

dont worry about meeting places there are several other places we can meet
Sir Fargo's, Orlando's, The library, and the fortress's planning room

heh, and I decided that the shape of the island actually looks like a "T" for Tremere of course ;)

The T is cool. I also thought of allowing members to run or work in the buildings so they are being used. Think of interesting events or making those buildings active. I know Demos has requested the use of the Mage shop. Anyone would like to work the Tavern or plan a tavern night. Also hold lectures since Umbra has not been seen about. Let me know what might be fun.

I did not know you had a Tavern now on Marble Isle, is it a public place like the old Poisoned Elf in Naeloth or is it mainly for Tremere ?

At the moment it's just a small one, mainly added in for the feel of having a complete town.

It is public, but as Jade mentioned above, it's open for people to plan tavern nights there.

The tavern is nowhere near as "grand" as the Poisoned Elf tho... But then, that's a bit why I asked if people would like some things changed!

I liked the brothel idea, If you lost the fort, and built the housing area as mentioned, you could also make the brothel there. Having members working in the buildings i think is a good idea, would be great to see the tavern used more, if you do decide to make the brothel can i run it? *grins* Fayte would really like to be more a part of the guild and this is something she would be very good at. Also, i'd love to see how you would decorate a brothel. I imagine it could look very classy.

ahhh a kind of response I was looking for thanks Fayte (and Jade). We used to have the Poisoned Elf tavern done up as a place for pole dancers and so forth. I think I'll work on those buildings with the tavern and the fort a bit.

I think I'll also rework the mage's shop area a little since I saw I lost a table already in there. Actually all of the houses could use a little tweaking to optimize them, but eh.. I'm lazy now I finally had some ideas for the hospital as well (thanks Decardo) I'll do it in some more marble to go with that temple next door. And add in some more marble down by the fortress area.

The isle is in a very strategic spot for control of trade from britain to vesper and trinsic. if control could be gained of the whole archapalago, trade could be effected through diplomacy guile and sheer underhandedness. orc raiders from the cove .. fort pushing the trade south ...pirates forcing the channels between the fen of the dead and the isles ...making our isles a *safe haven*.. especially if enacted as an independent *nutral* nation.... tradehouses opened ..small tithes for *recovered cargos* the possabilities are endless if done properly. Small watch towers on the other isles could be warrented as protectorates.....a study of tha maps of the area will show you what i speak of. and in a simpler form ..trade to the great city of britain by .. sea could be brought to a standstill......
