Quote:
These two days I have been struggling to keep at pace with my social obligations and other projects. I decided to dedicate a day away from the chapel and try to find a fitting motive for my newest painting. I have not considered any of it's details yet but I felt assured it would reveal itself in time. And so it did. I wanted the motive to be a sort of contrast to my last painting, but I would not allow it be any subject of lesser beauty, no. I nodded to myself as I walked to the south gate of Trinsic. The revelation was the Elven hamlet with the famous Trinsic Rose. I desired to paint the illustrious council member and innkeeper of this attractive establishment, Gwen Irima.

She was at the west gate where I beckoned for her attention. Without much effort it was granted.

Her serene beauty reassured me that indeed it would be a challenge to transfer this kind of beauty to a canvas, however my mind was set. We spoke for a moment when I asked if she would join me somewhere less crowded. Her welcoming smile and careful nod preceded our short walk to the park where I could reveal my motives.

She simply looked stunning in the moonlight, a scene I decided to paint in the distance at a later point. I activated all my charming skills and literary begged her with my eyes, my words for the most intended to be graceful, alas flattery was never one of my weaknesses. Of course, she had to accept. I did not hide my gratitude for her to agree on such short notice, quite intriguing. Perhaps she is as modest as she displays, indeed she seemed genuinely surprised. I inquired if the next day would be suitable, she revealed it would be very good after a scheduled repair hour in the elf hamlet. My last request was that it would be out in the open, away from the city, a more rural scene. Smiling she agreed one last time and admitted she preferred it. You could say I had my reasons for this urgency, however going further into details here serves no purpose.

I was escorted to the west gate and bid my farewell. While preparing to leave and arrange supplies for the session, I stumbled upon the soldiers of the barony on their way into the city. Having a weakness for spying on Covians I silently followed them into the jail and listened in on their conversations with Duke Irvyn. They desired an alliance against the strangest foes. The Duke agreed to no such thing and settled for some trade agreements. I shall later look into the people who the Covians claim are potential enemies of the Duchy and the Barony.

I left them and used the rest of the night to trade some delicate supplies. Arriving home just in time to see the sunrise, I watched it for a moment before retiring.

Quote:
The next day was to be constantly interrupted by the strangest events which have become all to common for me these passing months. The details need not be mentioned. There was no doubt I would miss my scheduled painting session with Gwen this evening. I tried to find her at the elven hamlet during this repair hour with no luck. I did manage to meet a delicate and skilled tailor by the name of Draxandru Rose.

They offered all kinds of repairs here, I was amazed at the diversity. Alas my only need for now was a few damages on my trousers. After I inquired this tailor she offered to repair it free of charge. I became quite grateful for her tender smile and complimenting etiquette, she was a Lady of higher pedigree I was sure. I thanked her and left in the same manner in which I arrived, casual and leaving no trace.

My work was calling me constantly, the sole reason behind me missing this painting session. I proceeded with my tasks for as long as I can remember for the remainder of the night at least.

Re: Amel Mastema's journal

*the last entry was hastily added with complete lack of concern for the reader it may seem. Written with an unsteady hand, perhaps even damaged. Too many letters may be blurred, and assistance could be required to avoid misinterpretation. foreign numerals used frequently in the journal refer to a separate page containing sketches*

Quote:
This day I woke up remembering only fragments of the passed week. My current projects were to blame in this case also, it became obvious after considering the situation. I do remember some dull details concerning my uneventful trip both back and forth from Papua when the week started.Going through Moonglow at night I noticed there were almost no one outside. As I desired no witnesses even for my mundane actions, I relished this opportunity and proceeded. I had decided to hire an alchemist. Surely my servant Hakeem was more than experienced enough to do my bidding. However, if my something was to misfire, I would not be able to help him stay alive. Therefore, I wanted someone disposable. Again, fate delivered.

Her name was Ursulah and she insured me of her skills concerning the reagents and alchemical mixtures required. The scene I recently woke to revealed that it was simply not the case. I heard noises of a water running and a strange burnt odor clinging to the walls and ceiling. I saw Ursulah sitting with wide open eyes in a corner with her feet stretched out and back relaxed against stained walls.

Obviously she had demised to a terrible state. I could see the bones shaping her body almost piercing the stretched skin and clothes.

She had ingested some kind of lethal poison, at least that worked for her. The were liquids and morbid components spread throughout the cellar up to a point of my faithfully barred door. I really should consider leaving foreigners out of this matter, however the unfamiliar nature they possess is too attractive to ignore in this kind of work. For me to remain anonymous to the subject, or subterfuge a fitting environment for my demeanor, is priceless. Of course, eventually the subject discovers my motive and they need to be disposed of, this would be the down side some might argue.

It is not so black and white in my opinion. A fine balance will have to be maintained for now. This was my third episode of this nature, alas my progress tells me it will not be the last, by far...

On another note I should remember to apologize to Gwen, not in this state though. I suffer without my Sire, I need to contact her as well, sooner rather than later.

*the paintings have some absurd details reflecting what the painter looks for when he sees people and objects. with the exception of the last one which barely shows a recognizable scene let alone entities. it is also organized according to the numerals*

Quote:
Finally I deemed myself fully restored and worthy of foreign attention, the blessed bandages surely do help strangely enough even for me. Being reassured of no signs from my experiments were visible any more, I went to Trinsic looking for Gwen of the elven quarter. As usual there was a small crowd at the west gate where I entered. She was not there and neither in any of the places I searched. Later returning in hope that those at the west gate could reveal her position I was disappointed to see they had all left.

Finally I found her at the provisioner. Having apologized for missing a meeting with her we proceeded discussing several matters for a while. The most interesting subjects were involving Captain Kaelyn and the Trinsic council. Apparently Gwen has substantial influence in that arena. She is working on a matter I find most intriguing, it's about the captain. Later she revealed her unfamiliar approach to the concept of council, saying she does not see anyone as her subjects even though she clearly has ruling power over them. Peculiar in my consideration, perhaps even a sign of weakness to be further pondered.

I invited her to see the neglected neighborhood of New paws, and of course gave her a guided our of the chapel. We talked for a while there. One thing I insisted upon was that the council would adequately fund this hamlet since they insist on governing it through their delegates, and not leave it to crumble. She told me of how she arranged construction in her district and I was fascinated when she revealed some details about the tree shapers. They seem very powerful. Obviously they are quite secretive about their ways, however perhaps I could learn more about them, in any event they are infinitely intriguing.

She left and I used the rest of the day on previous engagements involving mundane activities like acquiring supplies and attending my projects.

Quote:
At last I had the supplies needed and a flexible schedule to begin the painting again. Luckily enough I met Gwen of the elven district immediately at the west gate of Trinsic. There were some strange robed figures displaying what seemed to me to be some sort of play. Since they were blocking the gate I tried to slip by them unnoticed to talk with my newest model. We left shortly after courtesies and proceeded to paint after a small tour of a large hall in the southern end of the elven district. Gwen told me she had accepted a drugged pie the previous evening and done quite strange things she only half remembered. Still she accepted my wish to proceed with the painting.

Posing amazingly adept for a fresh model she made it an easy task to manifest the perfect scene. She removed a robe she had worn earlier and displayed a magnificent dress as she posed for the portrait. As we talked while I was painting we were interrupted by a few hooded figures. They seemed to me to be beggars. Gwen showed them away and they left after a few strange remarks. We continued our session talking about her family and VanQa.

Indeed Gwen seemed pleased with the finished product, I will include a smaller version of it for safe keeping. Giving permission to display it at my gallery she humbly asked for a copy. I had a valentines card with me as a small gesture of my gratitude, however she beat me to it and gave me one first. I returned the gesture of course.

I was escorted back to the west gate. After saying good bye, the evening ended at the chapel with my mundane routine consuming the rest of the night.

Re: Amel Mastema's journal

*this entry seems to have been added with great care using an elegant script. foreign numerals used frequently in the journal refer to a separate page containing sketches*

Quote:
The following evening was proceeding as usual until it was interrupted by a fireball manifesting from a flame close to me inside the chapel. I suddenly saw Flippers face in the flames and she said she desired my attention. The flames disappeared as suddenly as they arrived. Proceeding to pack I sort of dreaded this meeting as there were some unfinished business that would eventually become a subject of conversation.

She had a surprise for me, I was to be head of the spy division within a hidden organization called the Black Hand. Flipper was Black Heart she said, the head of this enterprise. We discussed loyalties and and we proceeded to officially have me sworn in to my new position. Afterwards we sat down where I got some questions answered about what this was about. To my surprise my Sire was not a member and I was not to reveal anything to her yet, this might be quite difficult. I will try, I owe her that much. We also discussed the rogue vampire Gwen, she seems to have been quite busy in her time apart from us.

I got a tour of the reconstructed town hall and I was shown a gallery which was to include my paintings. It was enormous, and I thanked gratefully for this generous opportunity. Last on the tour was the garden on the roof which included a calming pond with a small furniture island in the middle.

This is were it became quite awkward. We have had a relationship beyond what is regular within the family and it was time to end it in my opinion. We would soon become intimate family and it could no longer continue. This was not my proudest moment however she knew it was true, eventually we would be no more. We talked for a short while and concluded it was not meant to be. I still have feelings for her though and I believe I always will. How could I ever forget the spark that was quite literary between us.

I still ponder if I jeopardized my gallery and new position, however it remains to be shown, there is not much I can do in any event.

After I left I proceeded to the Trinsic Rose with a copy of Gwen Irima's portrait. To my great pleasure she happily accepted it. I enjoyed a few drinks and watched amazed and honored as she displayed it over the fireplace.

Shortly after the evening ended at the chapel as usual.

Re: Amel Mastema's journal

*this entry displays excelling elegance using a clear concise script previously unmatched in the journal. the same foreign numerals are vigilantly placed throughout the paragraphs referring to a separate page containing the illustrations*

Quote:
At last! My zealous work and undying loyalty has been rewarded. The true family gift has finally been rightfully bestowed unto me, I can feel it improving the skills of every aspect. Just now I am writing at a much higher speed than I had could have hoped to achieve.

This day I was to postpone my work and report to the family at the meeting. Surely Jade knew I had been infinitely occupied working on my previous gifts, perhaps that is why it was time for me to tend to other matters. I arrived late and the meeting had already began. When I entered I discovered to my amazement the meeting hall had been refurnished once again, there was hardly place to sit. Flipper arranged reserve chairs in case it became necessary.

The subject of conversation was an alliance with the Barony of Cove. I reported that captain Raiden had already attempted to negotiate with Duke Irvyn of Trinsic. Some trade relations were established but no alliance. My sire opened for some possible symbolic retaliation which could prove quite effective. Jade continued for quite some time and there were countless interruptions in form of small debates.

The issues were among other some hunters that preferred our kind, I barely listened as this is of little concern to me at the moment. If I see one I could perhaps finally put to test my newest technique in immobilizing an enemy. Jade ruled that we would listen and wait for the moment. Somewhere between this my sire let us know she had discovered the forming of the Black Hand. To my surprise she said nothing more about it. Vesper has a new commander and we were to establish diplomatic relations in that directions as well if understood correctly. Casal Bastiere mentioned something interesting about a cursed individual, unfortunately the practical details of the affair eluded me. Parts of the council could not disguise their smiles when news that the rogue kindred Gwen had been disarmed of her family gifts and if I heard correctly, lost her memory. I'm not sure what the conclusion as I was lost in my trail of thought trying to picture this new Gwen. I wonder if her battle skills had deteriorated with her memory..

After everyone had spoken their mind Jade gave us different tasks. Mine was to establish a meeting with Cove and I should bring someone to assist if necessary. When the council was excused, Jade made an exception for myself and Flipper. I had only hopes as to what this was regarding.

We went to my Sire's villa and we descended to the basement where Flipper got to be more specific about her immediate concern regarding the foreign hunters. I vaguely remember talk of some scheduled sparring sessions in close future. When Flipper left I was alone with Jade. She had a strange look in her eyes, watching me closer than ever.

I knew why I was there and I could not wait to once again taste the celestial liquid she possessed in her veins. She looked a little more reserved and inquired if I still wished to be as I was now, or join the ranks of the family. My answer was more an instinct than a rational answer. None the less I have no regrets. The ritual had a painfully seductive start and ended with pure ecstasy. I could go on for ever if I were to attempt to put it in writing and I will not make the effort. My consciousness will never let me forget a fragment of this cataclysmic event.

It was every bit as exciting as I had expected, I truly was empowered. Immediately my sire magically brought me to forests outside Haven where she taught me how not to taint my future meals, as well as other practical concerns regarding my new state. It was not as easy as she made it look, however I eventually managed. This experience as well are beyond my words so far, and simply recounting it will have to do for now. I should however make an effort to remember my first victim of this manner shocked face. How helpless the mortals become once they are in your grasp, remarkable.

Before recovering and properly discovering my new disciplines I was summoned to the Black Hand meeting. Flipper discussed agenda relevant to the family meeting and assigned similar tasks to the ones there.

I was to keep an eye on our ex family member Gwen in Trinsic and reveal what I could about her newfound loyalty to the Duchy. The meeting ended with Flipper magically transporting us to new location of a training arena that will be used in the future. We parted each our ways with much on our minds I believe.

Not quite sure where to begin I retired to my chapel to let the events of the night properly digest. There was so much to do and so much discover I needed to develop a new perspective of it all. The night ended peacefully and I hesitated slightly seeking the comfort Noixiata's old coffin. Strangely enough, as reserved I was of occupying such an intimate part of her possessions. I have never anywhere in my life felt so secure and protected as I did that morning.

*this entry displays excessive elegance using a clear concise script. the same foreign numerals are vigilantly placed throughout the paragraphs referring to a separate page containing the illustrations*

Quote:
There are several events of the passed weeks are not fit for a journal one might suggest. I will intentionally leave them out for several practical reasons. There has been much to discover and I have learned a great deal from my immediate surroundings. Lately the New Paws town center and the remains of the Britannia Guard have been my preying ground. So, so many unfortunate people staying here. I never realized. To remain on the safe side, I will have to find a new herd to feed on in case this one is compromised somehow.

Sadly more than one building of New Paws has succumbed to the swamps infinite hunger. A beautiful ruin containing a strange specter who sometimes visited my old graveyard. To the north homes of the poor has literary collapsed and sunk beneath the ground level. There is no immediate danger to the chapel however, being on the border of the swamp itself I reckon it will be safe for some time still. At least as long as the vigilant Mulag keeps a watchful eye.

During these weeks I managed to set up a meeting with the commander of the army of Cove. I traveled to the Barony and were greeted at a tavern by a friendly couple local to the area. They went through great lengths to help me deliver my message and I acquired the information needed.

After some arrangements I formally met the commander himself in the stronghold. They seemed quite suspicious of me, I must try to make work on my impression it seems. He agreed to meet under common terms at marble island. Later I sent him a letter to confirm the schedule.

*A copy is added of a letter*
Quote:
Grenadier Captain Raiden Morana

Our mistress and benefactor, the esteemed Lady Jade Bastet, has given me the privilege of extedning the following invitation.

The mistress would be pleased to have His exalted Baronship, and His selected party, for dinner at a time suitable for His schedule at Marble Island. Suggested occasions are Friday (Feb. 29 about 10:00 p.m.GMT) and Saturday evening (March 1 about 8 pm GMT).

Should these options be unsuitable I beg His Baronship reply with suggestions complimenting the Baronships agenda.

Advocate of Tremere
*signed with a large cursive "A"*

Unfortunately I have not been able to see the possible fruits of the meeting in person, I will need to update myself on the subject.

Also I have been searching for our old family member Gwen in Trinsic and it's surroundings. I included the Swaggers as well. I had no luck and if some had seen her it has been some time since and not very useful to pinpoint her position.

Training has been resumed as well, this time on more dangerous subjects. I attended a meeting at a large ruined manor inside the lower levels of dungeon Shame. There were very few words exchanged before the two initial mages outside started attacking. To my amazement I struck them down quite easily, and to stop further intrusions I animated their corpses to guard my back. I entered completely hidden in the shadows and repeated the process where I could. The walking corpses did not stay to guard me and instead broke into every room they could. To my great delight I could hear the screams of surprised mages from the rooms around me as I made my way to the first floor and dealt with the rest. I manged to feed on one of them as well, very potent vitæ indeed.

I have decided to acquire some new aiding equipment to compliment my new state as well. It seems I am not using my skills to their full potential. It will take quite some time however i rest assured it is worth the effort. I will keep the list shrouded until the items are discovered.
