![]() [The news as contained in this post you can take as IC knowledge. However any posts it links to are purely OOC information, unless you happen to have a good explanation why you would know about them IC.] Today’s Edition is brought to you by Amber “The Wicked Witch” De’Crowley Feluccia Caravan Carnage Murderers Galore But No Match For Manly Militia! Apparently the Guardsmen Militia have been at it again, defending the lands I mean! I hear they marched on Feluccia a few weeks back and aided a very risky caravan that had to brave the trials of the Feluccia facet! As you can see from the sketch below many a murderer leapt on the caravan from the wilds but were beaten back time and time again but the ever diligent Militia! ![]() The Militia battle known murderers in Feluccia! ---------------------------------------------- Vesper Make Peace With The Drow! Historic Agreement Reached I met Vierna Hun’ett, the leader of the Drow, at a secret location. I don’t mind saying that I felt a little apprehensive knowing the reputation of her kind. But it’s this intrepid reporter’s job to go into danger in search for the truth, so with fast beating heart off I went. When I arrived at the location, which I was requested not to reveal, she was there waiting to greet me. I had never seen her before and was slightly taken aback at her clearly exotic beauty. She was dressed all in black with a hint of red here and there, blood red I should stress. She looked stunning no doubt about that but her eyes, they shone a deep violet colour but they looked ice cold and emotionless. There was no warmth or love in her and I began to feel a little uncomfortable. She appeared to be alone but I had this gut feeling I was being watched. With no great show of welcome just the salutation “Vendui’”, she handed me a copy of a document. It was a simple, short, document declaring that Vesper was sorry for its crimes against her people. From now on Vesper would welcome drow. I asked her how this came about and this is what she told me. “Van Cocidius, the Baron of Vesper contacted me expressing a wish to put matters right between my people and Vesper. So I invited him here to discuss matters. The document, which I showed you, he had drawn up in anticipation of our reaching an agreement. The Baron was extremely apologetic and felt it was time to put matters right. He felt as Baron it was his responsibility and that any reparations should be his to shoulder. As leader of Vesper he would accept willingly any punishment on behalf of his people. He said the crimes against drow were reprehensible and inexcusable and blamed the bigotry and ignorance of previous barons for allowing matters to get out of hand. He also hinted that Yew had influenced their stance. He was different he said and would not tolerate racial discrimination. I must admit I was somewhat taken aback by his frank and honest admission and actually admired his courage. That is extremely rare in a male. So I accepted his admission in good grace and co-signed the document. Afterwards he left happy and in good spirits” Well. Quite a turn-around from Vesper, if, that is, this is all true! Considering i've heard rumours that the Baron was in fact kindapped i do have my doubts! But let’s hope relations between the two peoples grow stronger and make this world a better place. As I left she said to me that if I saw the Baron to tell him to take very good care of his wife and unborn child. Later when I got home I suddenly realised there was something chilling in the way she said that. It sent an icy shiver down this reporter’s spine I can tell you! ---------------------------------------------- Rumours Word on the street is the the Von Richter’s are back in Cove! Does this mean the return of the Baron? More to come! Watch those money pouches folks; I hear the Brigands are up to their old ways again. Don’t wander the street late at night for heavens sake! Seems someone’s been leaving nasty notes around the elven quarter again. Better put a stop to it whoever you are lest you get found out! Tut, tut! Orcs have been attacking Trinsic so I hear, nasty things they are! Apparently they have some necromancers helping them too.! One wonders if this shadow being caste over Britannia in recent weeks will ever be lifted! ---------------------------------------------- Letters To whom it may concern I wish to dispel the rumours regarding my husband, Baron Van Cocidius. Despite his previous disposition and reputation, he has remained faithful to me and me alone. I do not deny him platonic friendships with either men or women. He was in the company of Amarante of Buccs Den, the companion of his best friend Jackyl. I assure you, the Baron has not had time to carry out nefarious liaisons, and, should he ever stray, I am perfectly capable of dealing with this issue without the aid of gossip mongering. We are expecting our first child and the stress of these rumours is not healthy for either mother or fetus. Sincerely, Baroness Madeline Warmbow-Van Cocidius From the editor: There, there dear, denial is such a terrible thing. Men are such dogs aren’t they. Reports have reached me this past week that a wild group of brigands lead by that old nasty outcast Henry Winter, attempted to raid a Britannia Guards and Skarian caravan on its way to Britain. After leaping from the tree line yelling threats at the guardsmen, the brigands apparently drew their swords and charged on in. Off course Baron Edmunds righteous royalists won the day, but only after defeating a second group of brigands that had been waiting a little further down the road. ![]() [The news as contained in this post you can take as IC knowledge. However any posts it links to are purely OOC information, unless you happen to have a good explanation why you would know about them IC.] Today’s Edition is brought to you by Amber “The Wicked Witch” De’Crowley Vesper And Yew Face Off On A Desert Island?!? It appears dear readers, that the Yewish Militia and the people of Vesper cannot keep their contempt for each other aside even when stranded on a desert island together! In that sort of situation you would think they might work together, but no! Let me tell you more of what I have heard! Apparently a band of soldiers accompanied by Baron Van “The Lady’s Man” Cocidius set of from Vesper in search of an evil drow egg smuggling ring! ![]() But as bad luck and perhaps, dare I say, bad sailing had cursed them on that very day, they were not to reach their original destination. Instead they crashed onto the rocky edge off a deserted, desolate, dangerous island. Oh how disorientating it must have been, I know that last line was! Apparently as they tried to find their way off this desert island they happened upon another band of lost soldiers! Unluckily for both parties, these two bands of brothers in arms were in fact enemies! The Yewish Militia had somehow also managed to find them selves stranded on the island. Now not only did Vesper have to deal with being stranded, lost and disorientated from a shipwreck, they now had to somehow outwit the larger Yewish force and make their escape! Alas things just never go that easily, do they dear readers? Baron Van “The Lady’s Man” Cocidius managed to get himself captured by the Yewish Militia, whom I assume were going to burn him or put him through some other horrible demise. Well anyway, after a sneaky rescue by Militia Comrade Damien Bedford, Baron Van “The Ladys Man” Cocidius was once again free to roam the lands in search of more innocent young lady’s! Watch out girls! ![]() I also hear that Vesper made their own revenge attempt on the Militia by marching to battle with a band of gorillas, off course that didn’t go to well at which point Vesper decided to build a raft and at the very least, get off the island. Off course that didn’t go well either, unlucky lot aint they! The Militia showed up and nicked their raft, after poor old Van had spent hours building it too, only to send it off to bring in more Yewish Militia reinforcements! Anyway, I hear the Yewish lot only managed to capture Militia Comrade Damien Bedford while Baron Van “The Lady’s Man” Cocidius and the rest of the troops found their ay home with the help of Captain Escaflowne. New inhabitants from the new lands? Last Friday evening, two strange creatures were spotted at Trinsic's foremost tavern, the Rose. The creatures, with their purple skin, and tentacles protruding from their faces, made little upstanding. The night's taverncrawlers, represented by both Covians, pixies, Briannian guards, former Vesperian barons and local elves and citizens, took little note of the creatures, who were seemingly friendly and speaking the common tounge well. Much thanks to Trinsic's including and multi-racial politics in the Britannian society, no beings, whatever creed or race, should feel left out. (Rough skwibble) ![]() Oomie, Smash! Orc activity in Trinsic?! Last Wednesday, an Orc wrecked the bakery in Trinsic, scaring the poor employee of Stewan Seagull, newbie baker Colin. When questioned on the attack, Colin didn't reply.. He just tried to flog me some food! Poor chap must still be in shock. The following Friday, the very same Orc supposedly tried to enter the town through the southern gate, but was turned away by the Paladins posted there by the Duchy. There's also another strange Orc that dwells around Trinsic, going by the name Grukthar. Unlike the average Orc, this one shares tales of wanting to be a guard of the Duchy, but after being refused by the Duke he now rambles about becoming human, and a Paladin! He also tells people of his love for a fourteen year old Orphan called Jane, who's supposedly carrying his baby - The Horror! Is this Orc the same as others? Or maybe he's related to the recent goings on of the so called "Wood spirits". Preach It! The Church Fights Back! All honest citizens and guardsmen of Cove art hereby ordered 'pon her sighting, to place her under arrest and shackle her in a cell, where she shalt remain, for days if need be, until a member of the Clergy is informed of her capture either on the bottom of this warrant, or through another means. This female is guilty of insubordination, open disrespect to the Church, suspicion of heresy, and suspicion of conspiracy to commit vandalism, arson, and murder. Any individuals known to be assisting the criminal must be reported hither immediately, so that they shalt also face punishment on grounds of conspiracy to pervert the cause of Justice, and aiding and abetting a known, and wanted criminal. Shouldst this female present herself before this Saturday, drop down on her knees and beg Avatar for his forgiveness, the above charges may be wavered; though any future outbursts WILL result in a full trial before The Magistrate. † Signed † Father Siegfried, Templar Seneschal The Six Well.. Five.. The so called "Six" are a growing threat, but only five of this so called six have been sighted. So, protectors of Britannia, call upon your beasts, pick up your swords, and fight for your freedom, your pride, your Britannia! Wedding Bells! Another Wedding.. Lord Kai, a guard of the Duchy and his girlfriend Virelle, finally tied the knot in a local teahouse. Unique setting, and apparently a "spur of the moment" kinda' thing. We wish them good luck on behalf of the Poste! Calm Before The Storm.. It's Gone Quiet In Minoc.. It's gone all quiet in Minoc recently since the Yewish took over, the constant conflict that has been hammering through the town over the past few weeks has finally subsided, for now atleast. Will Vesper and Cove try to make another assault attempt on their neighbouring town and kick the Yewish out? If they are going to do so, maybe now would be a better time than ever? Klion and the D'Gar tribe haven't been seen for some time now, who knows where they are? This upcoming week should plan out to be very interesting in this plot! ---------------------------------------------- Public Notices: Quote:
Warning To All Heading To Cove! Travellers returning from the north claim that the coastal town of Cove is being gripped by a mystery disease. It is thought that the Guardian's spawn that have sought to besiege the town in recent months have brought the illness to Covian shores. The symptoms are said to be: nausea, the coughing up of blood, extreme head and stomach ache, diarrhoea, severe loss of appetite and weakness. It is rumoured that the affliction is highly contagious and that the night sky above Cove glows bright with the pyres of the dead. ---------------------------------------------- Rumours Trinsic's leading hero, Devante Stirling, have returned after an unusually long bed-rest following his recent illness. Now back, in the good custody of Gwen Irima, one hopes he will follow doctor's orders with plenty of rest. Apparently the citizens of Trinsic are getting fed up with the conservative nature of their guard force. Some are even threatening to move elsewhere. Staying with Trinsic, there's been whispers of the chance for an election for a new mayor of Trinsic in the near future. It's not been decided yet, but stay with us to find out soon! Also, retired Duchy Captain Kaelyn hasn't been seen for some while. Maybe she's finally died? One can only hope.. Apparently all the rum is gone. ![]() [The news as contained in this post you can take as IC knowledge. However any posts it links to are purely OOC information, unless you happen to have a good explanation why you would know about them IC.] Today's Edition is brought to you by Elsa Quillmark Sosarian Olympics in two weeks New inhabitants from the new lands? In two weeks time, Vesper is the location for the next series of Sosarian Olympic games. Monday 21st of July is a date worth to reserve for the official opening ceremony of the land's well-known and treasured games. After the ceremony, the city's finest tavern, the Swagger's Inn will be open to provide refreshments to guests. According the programme, the games will continue on Tuesday with single fights to determine Sosaria's best fighter, followed by darts- and archery contests on Wednesday. Thursday will be Mage's Night, with both wresteling and summoning contests. According to the posters, this will be the second olympic games in Sosaria's history. According to the Poste's archives, on the other hand, it will be the third. The first, held back in 2003 in Luna, was a tremendous success. We question whether these games held in Vesper will have the same success, considering Vesper's strained relationships to Britannia, and their recent feuds with the Britannia Guards and the Guardsmen Militia. The Poste will return next Sunday with a more in-depth look at the full programme of the Olympic Games. Trial by Combat introduced in Vesper Vesper getting more uncivilized by the hour? Worried about robbing the jeweler in Vesper? You shouldn't be. Just recently, the new Baron of Vesper, Elliot Heath, introduced a new law, letting any citizen of Vesper defend herself if accused by requesting a Trial of Combat. According to the baronial decreet, "[a]ny citizen of Vesper may, on being accused, or wishing to accuse another, of a crime or civil dispute, may request a Trial by Combat." The trial would then take place as a fight to the death by the accused and the accuser. The only downside to the whole thing is that both sides must agree to take part. In the decreet, Heath calls upon that "Lord Greenie", who is "wholly good", to look upon the trials, and that he would "intervene to ensure that the victor of the combat is righteous in his cause". The Poste has previously looked in to whether a religious mindeset is now coming to Vesper, but we have found little proof that these rumours were true. Is Heath now attempting to force his dominions into religious belief? If so, will the last frontier of freedom in the north, fall? We encourage our readers to provide input. Send your letters to the Poste before our next issue, on Sunday the 13th of July. Outbreak of plague in Yew Church blames faithless immigrants Just after the Poste went to printing last week, we were informed of an outbreak of a contagious plague in Greater Yew. The disease is thought to not only affect the body, but also the mind, with "sufferers demonstrating signs of madness and poor health", according to the clergy in Yew. Known symptoms of the plague are sneezing, coughing, scratching, signs of fatigue, agitation, a dry tounge and insolence. According to the Yewish church, the disease can grip the infected in a varied amount of time: "[A]nything from only a matter of minutes to a number of days, apparently dependent upon your Avatarian faith", a spokesperson from the church told the Poste. The advice of the church is to report any symptoms as early as possible. The dedication to prayer can easily cure the disease, according to the church, but "should the disease continue to ravage the body and mind unchecked, it is thought that burning of the skin is the only natural cure". The Poste would advise all travellers to Yew to keep their Avatarian prayerbook close in case one would encounter the plague. Disaster has been averted! Yew drinking waters cured by "Higher Being" According the official Militia posters, a "Higher Being" has cured Yew's poisoned water sources, the "cause of the ghastly plague that cursed not only the able-bodied of Yew, but the vunerable minds also". (Ed.: See the article above, on the outbreak of the plague in Yew.) ![]() A sketch of infectious Yewish deranged madmen attacking the Militia. According the the same reports, many areas of Yew are still infectious, and other places have gone days without food or water. The Militia, we are assured, have called in extra forces to deliver aid wherever possible. Cove-Trinsic market a success Cove-Trinsic relations improving well Last Wednesday, the first Cove-Trinsic market was held outside the west gates in Trinsic. Although a bleak ghost of the Trinsic markets from around two years ago, many citizens and merchants from across the lands had taken the journey to Trinsic. Merchants all the way from Skara Brae, seemingly prospering from their recent trading activity, had taken the time. Aegnor, the bowyer and artisan, had moved his weekly Repair Hour from the Elven Quarter, not far from the Trinsic moongate, to the West Gate. The long lost Baron of Cove, Octiovus von Richter, seemed to enjoy himself in Trinsic, and were seen enjoying a lively discussion with the the Duke of Trinsic, Irvyn Middlethorn, and his son Isidore M. Other prominent faces, such as Devante Stirling and Baron Edmund Fairholm were also present, but kept their distance from Covian baron. Perhaps not surprising, considering Cove's recent feuds with the Britannia Guards and the Guardmen Militia. Perhaps this is the first in a row of markets by the new best friends? Britannia's National Library soon to open Britannia's newest, and to this date biggest, library soon to open Sources within the corridors of the Great Council tells us that the building of a new library outside the capital of Britain will soon be finished. The library, we are assured, will house one of Britannia's largest book collections to date. The Library of Britannia is situated just outside Britain, next to the garrison of the Britannia Guards who will be responsible for its daily operation, we are told. ![]() Britannia's newest library is "soon to open", according to kingdom officials. The baron, Edmund Fairholm, tells us: - We have had many major contributions for the library, and we welcome many more. According to Fairholm, the new library should be seen as a common heritage of the people of Britannia, and be open to all. To the question of whether so-called "rebels", or republicans, will be allowed in, the baron answers: - Yes, to some extent. Provided they come in peace, I am certain something could be arranged. Perhaps a big leap for Britanna's finest, but a small step for world peace. Covian crops and orchards burnt to the ground News of 'the aftermath' has caused wide spread panic throughout Cove! Visits from those travelling to and from the town, have become more and more infrequent, according to Covian sources. Following orders given by Captain Morana in an attempt to rule out any possible source in connection with the aftermath disease (Ed.: see articles above), the Covian crop fields and orchards to the North and South, were burnt. ![]() The Orchard and crop field of North Altmere as it is burnt. Now predominantly on a diet of fish, the guardsmen and civilians of Cove are relying upon fresh springs and water falls by the Covetous Mountains for their drinking supply. According the Covian source, the disease has not yet brought any confirmed deaths, but anyone with symptoms should be report to the Covian infirmaries as quickly as possible. Bowcrafting and bowcare Yewish marksmen knows how to handle a bow Militia Marksman Kevin Longshot held a workshop yesterday, teaching Yewish marksmen how to handle and care for their bows correctly. The workshop covered the process of crafting both arrows and bows, replacing your own strings and what you should do if the bow gets wet. Upon asking advice, we were told: - If you notice damage to your bow string, a broken strand or wear, replace immediately. No bow goes without care in the big forests of Yew.
