![]() | Re: The People's Print. *a ragged page blows down the breezy streets of your town, this page appears more beaten than most, looking dated.* NEW YEAR CALM AS STORM CLOUDS BREW! ![]() Quiet weeks have passed since the rural settlement of Cedarwood became a ghetto for the rebellious of Yewtown's populace. The hardy Volunteers of 'Free Yew' have stood, weatherbeaten, steadfast on the village's borders, maintaining the relative peace of the deprived community. Fighting off occasional patrols, and enduring visits from the Lord Protector himself, and his capable entourage, the rapparees of the southern borough were reported to be struggling for supplies and munitions. Under the scrutinizing gaze of the Stonekeep citadel, questions of the survivability of Cedarwood had worriedly been whispered by it's occupying serfs. Relief, however, was brought to the cause this week past as the sails of the Indomitable appeared on the horizon off the Yewish coastal cliffs. Members of the Vesper Trading Company were seen offloading a vast array of crates, sacks and kegs behind the Empath Abbey where onlooking monks observed with baffled glances. It was not long before members of the Volunteer force broke from the tree line with a caravan of horses for the much needed supplies. The rebel leader divided the members of his force, and those of the Trading Company, between the horses and sent them off in two groups, taking alternate routes to the village of Cedarwood. Members of the Vesper Trading Company were, this reporter believes, sent to observe the citadel of Stonekeep - only to be apprehended by the local militia. Apparently tipped off, the militia set out to intercept the caravan and violence eventually erupted outside the Volunteer's Offices at the edge of Cedarwood. The Guardsmen seemed to have under-estimated their foes and were eventually forced to call on heavy cavalry! Templar from the Yewish church charged at the rebel lines, but were repelled along with the footmen. Eventually, Captain Dart ordered the withdrawal and the rebels rushed to hide their supplies before a second assault. Celebratory drinks poured from the taps of the Cedarwood Inn and contented serfs were seen skittering back to their homes with packets of food, bandages and supplies as the sun began to settle on the small community. While the future still looks hard for the rebelling citizens, this small relief from the Vesper Trading Company will likely expand the lifespan of the Cedarwood Community if but for days.

![]() | Re: The People's Print. *a ragged page blows down the breezy streets of your town* CEDARWOOD UNDER SIEGE! D'GAR TAKES ACTION! ![]() Cedarwood has been abuzz with panic these past few days, as windows, doors and gates have been barricaded across the borough. An exasperated Klion D'Gar has ordered a 'lockdown' on all of Southern Yew! Predictably refusing to accept the cries for freedom of the 'Free Yew' would-be citizens, the Lord Protector has announced a state of emergency control on the community. The entire region is to be under strict observation from the Guardsmen Militia and the "Protector"'s own household guard. Blockades and barricades have been constructed sporadically about the region by the militia who have been rigorously questioning every man, woman and child in the region. A paranoid Lord Protector has even decreed that simply living within the Cedarwood area is enough to see any individual arrested and detained, awaiting further notice. Panic stricken members of the community have flocked to the Volunteer's office, where no less than five new Volunteers are believed to have enlisted since the lockdown's anouncement! Posters scattered around Yew were enforced, brutally, two nights ago when the Lord Protector arrived with a force of guardsmen in the Cedarwood clearing and rounded up a pair of civilians from the local tavern. Being celtic, it would seem, was enough to see one poor woman - identified as Eirwen, a local tailor - cut, beaten, tied to a tree and eventually shot by the Lord Protector's men without examination, interrogation or trial. The vile torture was overseen by numerous veterans of the militia, including the First Markswoman and one-time officer, Leo Madsen. It is understood the abused is bedridden, fighting for her life in the wake of the assault. Healers do no value her chances of survival.

![]() | Re: The People's Print. *a ragged page blows down the breezy streets of your town* VOLUNTEERS PUSH BACK "LOCKDOWN" SQUAD! ![]() The 'Free Yew Volunteers' defending Cedarwood last night repelled an impressive force of the local militia, as they attempted to push into the rebel borough. The Guardsmen had erected an outpost outside the boundaries of the village and sent their waywatchers to observe the rebel movements, contemplating an all-out assault. Scouts from the Volunteer's force observed and reported back the grim news to the defending Captain. Cedarwood rallied, and began the construction of it's own defensive counter measures. From his office-come-library, village elder Duncan Calder emerged to access the situation as the Volunteers got to work. Overlooked by rebel scouts, the wise, aged Calder departed the security of his village to address the awaiting guardsmen at their encampment, though his efforts were met with disdain. Vitriolic and abusive, the Waywatcher's Mistress sent the disgruntled diplomat back to his office with a tirade of unwelcome abuse, an assault that would later cost her. Soon, news reached the defensive barricade that the militia were forming to assault. Bravely, albeit unwisely, the Volunteer's captain and a capable lieutenant left the defenses to attempt further reasoning. Commanding little more respect than Calder's efforts, the pair were met by a guardsman formation on the brink of charge. The alert was rung about Cedarwood and, as the two withdrew, the guardsmen set to follow. At Madsen's lead, the militia arrived at the barricade to be met by naught but tumbling weeds, rolling by the meadow. Confused, the militia began to disassemble the wall, berating the 'cowardly' defenders who had seemed to have split. As the questioning veteran began to utter 'where did they go?', a raucous cry rippled about the clearing and the ambushing Volunteers poured down upon the encroaching guardsmen and broke their well-held lines. Outnumbered but unafraid, the Volunteers ran berserk and smashed the militia formation apart, mowing down the leading Madsen with a barrage of arrows and steel and a panicked scuffle swept the Cedarwood stage. Numbers fell from either side, though it was soon apparent that the militia had been pushed to the back foot. As the Waywatcher Mistress was knocked down to consider her actions, the withdrawal was nigh and the routing guardsmen disbursed back t'ward Stonekeep meadow. The victorious defense will likely spark a lively response from the Lord Protector, and celebrations were minimal as the Volunteers dug in for another cautious night.

![]() | Re: The People's Print. *a ragged page blows down the breezy streets of your town* GUARD BRUTALITY ON CEDARWOOD PROTESTORS! ![]() The Guardsmen Militia of Besieger Master Sineal Walker this week demonstrated the sheer difference in mentality between the rebelling Volunteers and their bitter, corrupted adversaries. With the 'South Yew Lockdown' in full sway, the 'Free Yew Volunteers' launched a counter offensive these days past as an attempt to steal munitions stung the garrison at Stonekeep. Caden D'Gar, heir to his father's land and even guard's captain Bladius Dart were said to be amongst the casualties as the vengeful Volunteers ran rampant over an understaffed militia. Though while militia casualties were high, the Volunteers eventually withdrew with little reward for their raiding; and the leadership of the Free Yew force were left contemplating the worth of their assault in the wake of Walker's retaliation. As the militia swarmed into Cedarwood the following eve, a tide of grey and gold was merciless as it rounded up the patrons of the hamlet's tavern and dragged them to the inn's attic. The audacious Besieger talked of 'equal treatment' of captives as he ordered the torture and beatings of the taken men. Master Walker must surely have a fear of fishing, farming and a hard day's work to consider the vile and brutal treatment of his prisoners to be equal to that of the 'punishments' handed out to captive Guardsmen in the Volunteer's campaign to date. Cedarwood was left licking it's wounds as the militia withdrew under the pressure of skirmishing rebels, alleged to have attempted the execution of the Lord Protector's youngest son as his minder looked on, helpless to aid his charge who demonstrated plenty of guile to escape his perusers as the guardsmen exited the village.

![]() | Re: The People's Print. *a ragged page blows down the breezy streets of your town* FURTHER DESERTION ROCKS STONEKEEP!! ![]() Stonekeep was left stunned just days ago, as further guardsmen quit the garrison in violent acts of protest in favour of the rebellion! Te'ani Lanoor, a rookie waywatcher boiled over in protest at the cruel and callous schemings of her divisional corporal in the wake of a failed sting in Vesper. As the Guardsmen Militia planned to use the family and child of a Volunteer commandant to manipulate the Yewish rebels, it's understood Ms. Lanoor's objection took physical force as she fired off her crossbow at her superior officer. The Guardsmen responded and caught the dissenting rookie for a hefty beating. Support from any of her peers was swiftly muffled as the poor woman, believed to be of half-elfish heritage, was left to die by her fierce and unforgiving comrades. This reporter wishes the swiftest recovery to the brave former-guardswoman, understood to have been taken in and sheltered by the Free Yew Volunteers. It is likely the rebels would be slow to trust one of their enemy, but in this state of D'Gar-imposed lockdown, the desperate rapparee band will likely refuse no man or woman coming to their number with weapons in hand.

![]() | Re: The People's Print. *a ragged page blows down the breezy streets of your town* GUARDSMEN REPELLED IN EMPHATIC DEFEAT! ![]() Defending Volunteers triumphantly made a mockery of Lord D'Gar's proposed lockdown of Southern Yew this few night's past as they routed a force of senior guardsmen from the hamlet of Cedarwood. The once sleepy village, now epicenter of rebel activity, showed itself truly capable of it's own defence as the protective rapparees stood firm at their barricades to drive away the militia force. The fight broke out in peculiar fashion as the militia, lead by the Lord Protector himself, bore down on the defensive palisade. Bolts were loosed immediately into the assaulting besieger line who were forced back to reconsider their line of assault. Soon the guardsmen re-emerged to assault the rebel line, the Volunteer's commandant and lieutenant were swiftly targeted and chased about the meadow in a frantic skirmish. But as both men escaped their would-be attackers, the conflict returned to the village itself. Soon the rebels had the upper hand and the besiegers began to fall. Battle hardened champions of the militia, guardsmen Fraser and Tripps were sent to the dirt and this reporter even witnessed a Volunteer's bolt strike down Lord D'Gar! The routed guardsmen carried their Noble to safety in the aftermath of the assault and brave displays by Corporal Walker and his veteran Captain covered the militia withdrawal. It is understood the furious Lord Protector has mustered his guardsmen for a final, angry drive into Cedarwood Village as he stakes his claim on the land. 'Free Yew's days, he will believe, are being counted as the iron machine of the militia prepares it's next assault. This weekend will offer little rest to rebel kind.

![]() | Re: The People's Print. *a ragged page blows down the breezy streets of your town* VOLUNTEERS ROUT AS D'GAR RECLAIMS CEDARWOOD! ![]() The thundering machine of the Lord Protector rolled into Cedarwood last night and flattened the entrenched resistance of the Volunteer force as it stood in the midst of the hamlet. Seemingly caught off guard, the rebel defenders were scattered and their unruly numbers spread about the clearing as the guardsmen entered and formed their neat ranks. Professional soldiery clattered against a poor imitation of the old militia and the rapparee band were hit for hefty losses. Free Yew's Volunteers had gone a long way from their guerrilla roots but will likely be considering the worth of their changes in the wake of considerable loss. The organisation of Lord D'Gar's men was clearly superior and the Yewish engine of steel and flesh was sturdy as it drove off the dissenting crowd. Cedarwood was silent in the aftermath as survivors straggled into the woods of Yew, scattered in every direction to lick their many wounds. The besieger presence of Master Walker and tidy ranks of crossbow fire broke the rebel lines with ease and the usually hardy defenders appeared jaded, beaten as they rallied to save their freedom. As the Lord Protector surveyed his newly retaken domain, the rebel leader and his entourage are believed to have escaped, if barely, clutching severe wounds and heavily dented pride. Rebel whisperings have been muted by fear across the township, and Yew's stunned silence is testament to the militia's might. None the less, the rebel factions lays somewhere, for now dormant, in Yew, considering it's next move.

![]() | Re: The People's Print. *a ragged page blows down the breezy streets of your town* REBELS RE-EMERGE AS GUARDSMEN ARE HURT! ![]() Shocks this week for the guardsmen militia as remnants of the Yewish rebel movement reappeared to cause grief to members of the Guardsmen Militia. Whether or not the small gangs were what remains of the Free Yew Volunteers is yet to be known, but the armed pockets of rebel activity have stung a number of patrolling guardsmen around our Northern township. While an initial disturbance in the King's Deer Tavern was eventually repelled, a number of lone guardsmen have been caught up by disaffected citizens still frustrated in the wake of the "O'Gara Uprising." The latest victim of such an assault is reported to be new Marksman Corporal, Ffion Derwyn! A pair of celtic men were spotted dragging the fallen petty officer to the sheep pens West of the Keep. The group exchanged an array of colourful language before the senior guardswoman was deprived of her uniform basics! Stripped of the colours of Yew, the rebels even demanded Ms. Derwyn's parade arm as they stood in judgment. "You can have these back, when you are fit to protect Yew!" one of her aggressors shouted. Whatever her 'test' was meant to be, it is apparent the markswoman refused and was pushed to her knees and restrained, as another of the gang took her beloved golden arms. This assault was not the first, a recent string of similar offences have left a number of more junior guardsmen fleeing back to their garrison home shy of kilts and sashes. Beyond the symbolic, the purpose of these assaults is unknown. Whether or not such incidents are crimes of angry frustration, or a more co-ordinated series of assaults remains to be discovered; though it should not be disputed that these happenings represent a return to confidence in Yew's dissenting rebels.

![]() | Re: The People's Print. *a ragged page blows down the breezy streets of your town* LOCK UP YOUR DAUGHTERS! REBELS LOOSE!! ![]() The D'Gar household was rocked this week by the snatching of their eldest daughter, Imrae. Imrae, the most 'drow-like' of the D'Gar heirs was surrounded and "arrested" by Yewish rebels following several days of light skirmishing with the township's Guardsmen. It is believed the heiress and a trainee of the militia walked into a rebel ambush, baited by citizens of Vesper. The 'young' drow was subdued with light grappling after a moment's light resistance and dragged relatively unharmed West of the Courts of Truth. With the delinquent trainee dispatched, the rebels took their captive as far as the shore and offered an exchange of views with the Lord Protector's daughter. The spritely female remained petulant for some time though it became increasingly evident her captors were not out to play games. After a moment's confusion, the gang's leader presented a hatchet and lead the noble kin to a tree, demanding she 'work.' Bewilderment struck the young lady more than fear, an evident disdain for work apparent in her demeanor as she announced herself incapable of such a task! As she feigned ignorance, the rebel quad were left distinctly unimpressed as they ushered her into action. As sloppy technique and a careless misuse of her tool rendered the hatchet useless, the hapless heir was then instructed to cook. With fresh venison provided by the rebel hunters, a skillet and fire supplied, the simple task for the stately female was but to grill her fillet. Disaster ensued as Imrae D'Gar produced a shambolic, charcoaled excuse for food and was promptly made to eat her 'meal'! On refusal, it is believed one female member of the rapparee party was all too happy to 'assist' Miss D'Gar in her decision to compromise. It is not believed the Lord Protector was contacted for ransom, reconfirming beliefs the rebel band remain unswayed by the potential windfall of their actions. Steadfast in their ethics, if reckless in their execution, the rebel folk of Yew seem content to persist in 'educating' those still loyal to the Lord Protector, including his own blood!

![]() | Re: The People's Print. *a ragged page blows down the breezy streets of your town* DESTRUCTION IN STONEKEEP!! TOWER DESTROYED!! ![]() Yew's rebel movement made it's most audacious move to date on the eve of the Sabbath, as a local cell of protesters completed a tunnel shaft that lead to the foundations of a militia tower! The large stone building is believed to have housed Lord D'Gar's marksmen division prior to it's collapse and rebel rumours about the town state the former defenders of Cedarwood have claimed responsibility for it's destruction. Opinion was mixed in the King's Deer last night as Guardsmen debated the extent of what they had first believed to be an 'accident'. But this reporter heared several eye witnesses, including Jones, a local Cooper, report Lord D'Gar's discovery of the rebel tunnel and it's purpose. Between nine and ten on Sunday night, as the Blue drained from the sky, a great rumbling filled the Stonekeep meadow as stone and earth gave way and the great tower came crashing down. As D'Gar and his marksmen were left to Delve through the remains of the fallen tower, the Lord Protector gave out a cry of shock as his heavy armour dragged him through the thin ground above the tunnel as the passage caved in. Flailing and struggling, his Scarlet mane clotted with Yewish soil, our lordly noble was left to flail like a beetle on it's back as the earth poured in about him. Not the only victim of unsteady earth, corporal Derwyn found herself Hooked into the collapsing tunnel in the moment's madness. Soon the militia set about pulling free their Lord Protector as the rebels were left to Peel away, startled, down their tunnel to safety. A series of explosions rippled through the soil as the wily rebels brought down further segments of the crudely made shaft to cover their escape. Further examination of the crippled tower's supports is believed to have revealed the rebel's plan to Byrne through the building's foundations and sink it to the ground. Local urchin Criofan Geraghty was sent into the dark of the shaft as the militia discovered it's entrance and despite the Lord Protector's first impressions, Dragons were not responsible. No doubt the local rebels will be claiming this a valuable Wyn in their struggle to victory over their loyalist foe, but the garrison at Stonekeep has a long history of hardship and it will take more than marauding rebels branding sharpened Shanks to stop them.

![]() | Re: The People's Print. *a ragged page blows down the breezy streets of your town* GUERRILLAS ASSIST YEWISH ASSAULT ON MINOC!! ![]() A patrol of Guardsmen from the Yewish garrison of Stonekeep arrived at the foot of Mount Kendall last night with the intent of investigating rumours of slavery in the Vesper-owned state of Minoc. The minnow region of workers and tradesmen, annexed by it's yeoman neighbours in the wake of the last 'Minoc Campaign' has existed as "West-Vesper" since the war and the recent appointment of new mayor Reywal S Hallow is believed to have stirred up a number of resentful dissenters. A man notorious for his disparaging attitude towards the peasant classes, Hallow is believed to advocate tighter restrictions on his populace and it is little surprise that such tales of slavery and gypsy persecution have escaped the northern province since his coming to office. Indeed, as the Yewish patrol was met by Vesper's militia, guarding the mines of Kendall, cries of "Minoc, not West Vesper!" joined the fray along with paramilitant arrows and the combination of Yewish tactics and rebel heart stunned the confident Vesperians into defeat. Signs of rebel activity was scarce in victory as the masked men returned to the shadows from whence they came, no doubt anxious of the stern Yewish left bemused by their participation. Vesper's new Baron was amongst those driven back by the Yewish assault, Captain Bladius Dart and the Lord Protector Klion D'Gar amongst the elite combatants that broke his lines. The newly appointed official; a man with rumoured ties to piracy, drug smuggling and sexual debauchery; has been a controversial selection in the state and voices of unease in the Vesperian provinces have stressed concerns that gold, bribery and promised inflation of Militia wages tipped the popularity-contest of faux-democracy that saw Cocidius elected. The man must be cursing his luck in the days gone past, as woeful timing has no doubt brought fresh concern to his office. If the Baron was expecting an easy ride, then a double-blow of Yewish interference and fresh Minocian "national" pride was most likely least of his desires. Still, loyalists across the North will no doubt be concerned at fresh rebel rumblings - however small they may have seemed to be, though others will likely be alarmed as the rebels turn to fight each other.
