The Field Exercise

Last night, the Knights Conclave and the various orders connected to it set off for a field exercise in Ilshenar, lead by Sir Falcon of the Knights Templar. We have arrived at the campsite, and though with a few minor difficulties we have erected a campsite. Or a fortress, as Falcon almost called it. I am quite satisfied with the outcome of tonights exercises and to see the motivation amongst these men and women. Through joint practice this is a prime example of what can be achieved.

I assume we will have to rebuild parts of the garrison tomorrow, due to the harsh weather and decay at the campsite, but we will only be staying here for two days. Apparently, the reason for this exercise is that the Conclave learns its strength. It seems to me that the organizational structure of the Conclave is still a bit weak, but I expect things to improve.

It seems the Britannia Guards are growing in numbers again, which is good. I have not seen them around for many months. It seems though as their leaders our out of capacity to control their regiment to any sensible extent, which is worrying. They seem to lack a lot of needed experience. I was glad, however, to see veterans such as Flik back yesterday.

I didn't prepare to be put in charge of the garrisons construction last night, but I managed quite well. I have built many such garrisons throughup my time, and I can still remember my greatest achievement while stationed holding Cove a few years back, before Baron Octiovus claimed the city.

I sought out Sir Bevier of Skara Brae this evening, but I was unable to find a convenient time for a meeting with him. I am worried at Vespers late agression against Skara Brae. Skara is still a remaining crown city, and it seems not long ago the Guard was based there. With the collapse of the Duchy of Spiritwood, they can expect no assistance from their neighbours. And if I remember correctly, the closest camp - on the way between Skara and Britain - is inhabited by Henry Winter's brigands, which is a bad sign.

Nevertheless, I hope Samsca of Olk is wiser than his predecessor. These disturbances in the Kingdom worries me greatly, especially as I do not know who I can still count on as loyal to the capital and to our King.
