| A Newspaper clipping Quote:
The body of Carl Lawrence was found at approximately 3am when his loving wife (Mrs Carolyn Lawrence) returned home from work. “I thought he was just sleeping at first, he’s been very tired lately – working so hard and all, but after trying to ‘wake him up’ I found he was really.. cold.. chilly, freezing almost. I pulled back our red, silken sheets – you know the sort.. only available in Nu’jelm, we had them shipped in especially.. that’s when I found.. to my horror that the bed was covered in sick, it was then of course that I ran out for a healer. Unfortunately, it was too late. My darling husband was dead’’
Witnesses say that Mr Lawrence left work early (The King’s Deer Tavern in Stonekeep,) owing to a headache. He walked the mile to his house where he met his untimely end.
Carl’s mother gave us the following statement: “Ah just don’t understand it, me darling Carl was such a lovin’ boy. Never ‘urt a fly, did he? Ah jus’ can’t think o’ who would do such an awful thing. ‘e was so ‘ard workin’, owned three taverns yer know and then jus’ opened up this one in Stonekeep! Ah jus’ don’t know wha’ ah’ll do without ‘im. ‘e was such a good boy, would come round every Wednesday to ‘elp me with them chores, ‘e even paid me rent fer me. ‘ow am ah goin’ ter manage now? Oh ‘is poor wife, ‘ow must she be copin’? Such an awful thing ter ‘ave ‘appen. Awful awful thing!”
Carl was a successful business man, owned three taverns and managing a further one in Yew alongside his wife. He was 47 years old and had been married to Carolyn (28) for nearing four years. The couple had no children but those who knew him said he always seemed happy with what he had. The healer that Mrs Lawrence fetched that evening has confirmed that Mr Lawrence died from poison.
