My mom just got home from a long trip to VA and the AC in her car will not shut off! She has a Buick Regal 2002 I think.. When you turn the car off the radio etc plays until you open the car door, even after removing the key. That is normal. Today however, her Air Conditioner will not turn off, even though Its in the off position, car is turned off, key is out, doors have been opened & closed etc. I thought maybe if I pulled the fuse out it would shut off but I can't find AC any where on the list. I am, *cough*, scared of the battery and there is some huge bar that goes across it anyway as a anti-theft device. Is there some fuse I can pull out to shut it off with out damaging the computer in the car and electruciting myself? And is there another name then AC that I should look for?

What do you mean the A/C doesn't shut off? The cooling fan under the hood is designed to run even with the engine off until a certain temperature is reached. If you are talking about the blower motor inside. Try turning the key both ways.

The Air Conditioning in the car. I saw Low & High Blower in the fuse list... or does that mean something else? I had to get my father who was/is pretty intoxicated, god I hate that and we unhooked the battery which sparked and set me flying. Realized one of the windows was open, hooked it back up and the Air is still blowing. So we left it unhooked.

That was my first thought. How long has it been on Suggs? Many cars will have the radiator fan run for some time after a long drive. Mine has stayed on as long as 15-20 minutes...

No this is the air conditioning inside the car, not the cooling fan. If I put it on hot, it will blow hot air, vent, AC, Bi Level it all changes. However it seems to be stuck on slow med or high.

She drove way down into VA today and back so I would say 2-3 hours each way plus stopping to pick/drop off people.

OMG that is so bizarre snuggs. Wish I could help. Does she have a computer in there I could fix?

If you tried turning the ignition key back towards accessory and/or on and it didn't make any difference. One of two things happened. One the ignition switch burned out internally. Second you have something shorted in the wiring causing it to back feed. Neither one would be easily fixed

See with my moms car, you turn the car off, take the key out and the radio & AC continue to play while you sit in the car. It wont shut off until you open the door. So this is like a combination of things, when you turn the AC off in the car it wont shut off, and when you turn the car off it wont shut off. My mom thinks its a switch, which the car has 10million of them and they are realllllllly expensive to replace Is there a fuse though I can take out? to just shut off the AC in the car?

Is there a fuse marked "Blower" or "Fan"? the radiator fan would be on a fuse/relay under the hood so the fuse shouldnt be for that one, it would be the one for the heat/AC...
