Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

http://www.vanguardsoh.com/

Looks to be a winner IMO... Even has custom housing and a seamless massive server...

I would go as far as stating this:

If they deliver the gameplay and content they promise, the true dynamic graphics will cause me to leave UO...

Will even support the new PhysX PCI board for Dynamic Models

Re: Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

I've been following this game for some time now...I'm very excited.

At E3 they showed some demos...the gameplay is great. For me, it's a good mix between UO gameplay and EQ2 graphics.

There is a video out with them showing how you build and deco houses...amazing.

Re: Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

They are basing on the Unreal engine which is fantastic news for those who want to play and dont have uber rigs.

The Unreal engine has really amazing scalability. I played UT04 on a bottom of the barrel 800Mhz PIII with greater stability and frame rates than other games that had lower Min Reqs...

Looks very nice. Depending on fees and box cost, Ill probably give it a shot..

Re: Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

I'm pretty sure this is it...

http://www.fileplanet.com/163792/160...Player-Housing

You have to download it to watch it...it was a preview at E3. As it stands right now, the devs put out 3 screenshots every month and sometimes we're lucky enough to get videos....

I good site that has lots of videos and info is Silky Venom. http://www.silkyvenom.com

Talking about housing, some of the things that have been said are:

-Areas to build towns. Some plots can only build one type of house (like a guard tower at the front of your town gates) To buid roleplay

-Their is a lot of opportunity to 'caravan'. As in, if you don't want to build an RP town or community...you can easily drop your house and move it into the new area that you are exploring...providing you find a plot to place in.

-Destroyable!!!! That's right...you can be raided by NPCs who can do damage to your homes, even when you are offline. Not necessarily destroy them, but cause some damage that you need to repair.

I guess I should add Ships/Boats in here..

-Livable...destroyable...NPC pirates...it's all very cool!

*check the boat in the background of this screenshot*

Re: Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

Thanks for the link!

There is a function available out there for those of you with nice rigs and 300 bucks to spare...

A new PCI card came out called PhysX... It is similar to a graphics card in function, only it is for running an enviornment and calculating the enviornment physics. In lamens terms it allows for a dynamic enviornment, trees that don't sway the same way every time, no two explosions will look the same, characters actually move with human mechanics, ect...

Vanguard: SOH will fully support this PCI card. It runs about 270-300 at this time, but as more games come out the price should fall a lil by the time Vanguard is released.

Speaking of which, is there any solid forcast of Vangaud's release?

Re: Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

The developers have said Nov/Dec 2006, or Jan/Feb 2007.
